O.o just get the treasure hunter cp passive, it might help with your RNG.

does it? do those writ reward boxes count as treasure chests?
    can this anyone confirm? @ZOS_GinaBruno

Only 3 months? I should be so lucky. I'm looking at 900 days at my current rate (no, I'm not exaggerating, unless something changes then the extrapolation is 900 days).

Remember that Homestead is meant to entertain us for the next 3 months, so I'm pretty sure the drop rates of mats, writs, etc is balanced to that time frame. This wouldn't be to bad (the drop rate for the last few motifs were similar) but for the fact that some essential parts (like the target dummy) are locked behind either the Master Writes or the Crown Store. The piece of furnishment should be available for in-game gold or for free (like other games do it). Leaves a very bad taste to me.

Same here. Chat in Craglorn is just spammed with those:
"WTS Sealed Blacksmithing Master Crafter Writ (116) 750K"

Prices in guild store also seems to be ridiculous. I saw one of those master crafter writ in guild traders for like 3,5 million gold no joke...

    xD

The solution is just to wait for the stuff to get reasonable cheaper (new content always is expensive but after some time prices drop drastically). And just do the crafting quest for the gold & XP they give.

There were two things I was really looking forward to regarding homestead: Storage space (I was hoping to finally have something like those "labelled chests" you could get in Skyrim), and the target dummy.

Well, once more, "Z" excels at destroying expectations. The former is not even implemented, and the latter turns out to be the most unbearable grind yet (intentional to get us to spend real money in the crown store? - yeah right - no thank you sir!).

So I'll continue to hate inventory management, and continue to use Slimecraw as my target dummy. This ESO+ member is not amused!

So I just got 3x Writs today - yay me.

    Or not.

    1. Dagger, Epic, Sharpened, Redistributor, Primal - reward: 6 Writ Vouchers.
    2. Leather Bracers, Epic, Well Fitted, Willow's Path, Imperial - reward: 6 Writ Vouchers.
    3. Absorb Stamina Glyph, Epic, reward 2 Writ Vouchers.

Maybe if the Writ Voucher payoff was 4 or 5 times what it is it would be worth throwing the mats away on those Writs, but at that payoff - not a chance.

Still, I suppose that is not quite as awful as the one I had the other day that cost me 6x Tempering Alloy (approx 30,000 gold) for just 16 Writ Vouchers.

All this is doing is making the already very rich trading guilds even richer, Writs and Furnishings are just a Material Sink, and as materials get sucked out of the economy prices go up. In fact, I would bet whoever came up with this system for ZoS is in a high-end Trade Guild in-game.

I think the system is balanced as it is. It only rewards a small amount of vouchers for consumable master writs because those skill can be trained pretty fast and have no further requirements, compared to the time needed to research traits and farm/buy motifs required for gear crafting writs. I have crafting maxed out on 3 chars, but only one of them has most motifs learned (only missing the new ones introduced in this patch) and all 9 traits researched as well. The amount of master crafting writs I get is fine - a gear crafting one every couple of days and a consumable one every day on average 0 since it doesn't put too much strain on my temper reserves.

The most common "going rate" for writs on guild stores i have seen is 5k per voucher. If its a huge cost like say psyjic needs roe or tempers it might get down to 4k per. So most of the exammpke i have sern compkained about so far would havebmade tons on the market.

So far the vouchers per writ have all made sense to me and seemed consistent.

This is why there is a crown store for thise who dont want to grind. Buy to play at its finest.

You can take the long road of piecing thinga together buy playing this like a legendary game of SIMs, or you can fork over cash and have it now.

Then theres me who plans on abstaining from anything housing in hopes that the numbers reflect that some players just arent interested

I have only one toon capable of crafting, and have turned in all 6 writs daily. Also purchasing low cost/low payout master writs I come across. Crafted my first target skeleton last night.
I have also sold a lot of crafted furnishings.
IMO, there has never been a better time in Tamriel to be a crafter.
Good job ZOS <3 bought a house with crowns to say thank you.

I agree. Up until now becoming a master crafter has been way too easy. So easy everyone has all slots filled with master crafters eliminating the need for others to hire crafters for their equipment.I think the move to have mc more dedicated is a good one.

I tend to agree. Have three Master Crafters and even though I have received several Master Crafting Writs I find them not at all worth the mats involved in crafting the items required. I now just sell the writs or give them to friends.

On PC/NA, I think they have fallen below that. Some of the 2 writ simple vouchers can go for that, but the price fell pretty hard on Monday. My guess is that a lot of people (myself included) stopped listing once we realized that the traders were the culprit for the deadly strike bug, and then the market got flooded after the fix. I listed 2 big ones on monday at 3.5k a voucher and they sat for 24 hours without selling, when last week the same vouchers sold at 6k per in minutes. I dont know where it will level out out, my guess is somewhere in the 1.5-2k range. I relisted mine at 3k per last night, and we will see if they sell. And this is a Rawl'kha trader, so if it doesnt sell there it wont sell anywhere.

I am sitting on 343 deadly strike vouchers. By the time they fix them, my guess is prices will hit rock bottom. I will probably end up actually using these ones for myself.

Yep, this is nuts. Master writs are rare as hell to find, and nevermind the fact that crafting mats for housing are completely impossible to get.

Ridiculous. I think this is ZOS trying to get people to buy furniture in crown store. Meanwhile, my house has a bed and a basket in it...

My main toon is a full 9 trait master crafter with every single motif gathered, every single quest in the game completed and I haven't gotten one master writ on her yet. Done the writs every single day.

My 7+ other alts have picked up 3 since release of housing, but they know zero motifs other than their own race.

After doing several writs and getting nothing I gave up and just went back to finding the "recipes" and farming nodes for materials.

I wanted to try and get the crafting stations, but this grind is not worth it. On the bright side maybe demand for materials will pick up and I will be able to sell those and just buy the master writs?

The thing that annoys me most is that we have been pushing for master crafting writs for ages now - mainly because the inspiration given by normal writs is meaningless but also because those writs are so basic and are totally lacking in imagination. Master writs are the perfect way to reward crafters who had learnt to something more than just craft a couple of bows and a shield and want better rewards than vendor trash gear and recipes.

So they bring in master writs...

Do they make them alternative to the basic writs? Do they make them so that a master crafter can use some skill to get a better reward than just churning out a couple of nondescript daggers, a couple of pauldrons and a helm?

    No.

They introduce a triple layered RNG grind.

You might get a master writ, if you are lucky.

You might get a writ that gives you something more than 2 tokens.

You might have learnt the obscure style they want you to use so you don't have to visit the crown store.

None of that is guaranteed. And you still have to complete the boring, unimaginative, basic writs :(

  • projectscience
Considering that this is not the only thread on the forums criticizing the more than "underwhelming" drop rate, and the only response from ZOS to this issue is ... nothing..., one can only assume its working as intended.

Keeping my fingers crossed, that you get lucky enough to log in and turn your writs in, when the time is right: rain in Death Valley, sunshine in the polar night, Sun Mars and Jupiter in the correct constellation and a spike in the ZOS RNG system.

    Happy grinding.
