Ha! Then you'd die seeing the ones going for 600k to a million.

    There's a threefold problem here.

    1. Scarcity of Master Writs
    2. The extortionate material cost in fulfilling the Writ
    3. The abysmally poor payoff for doing so.

Any one of those "features" would be bad enough in any MMORPG worthy of being called a Triple A game.
Any 2 combined would amlost be as bad as a typical Korean Grinder.
All three! Now that's a new low for Western MMORPGs.

ZeniMax aren't even trying to hide when they are incentivising us to take the grind-short-cut and head to the Crown Store. That's how little respect they have for us.

There's only one way to turn the tables on ZeniMax for this, but I doubt enough players would be up for it.
Stop engaging with the Homestead system, and refuse to buy anything (at all) from the Crown Store.
If enough of us do that for 3 months - so they see a hit on their quarterly reports - then they will have to change tack.

To make Master Writs even marginally worthwhile they need to be twice as common, with half the material cost and three times the current payoff.

O.o just get the treasure hunter cp passive, it might help with your RNG.

My master crafter that has all traits, all motifs expect a few pages of Akaviri and the new ones HAS the treasure hunter passive and as far as I can tell, doesn't help a bit. Plus he is an Imperial to boot. So much for the luck passives :)

While I have my qualms, if Zenimax was going to force people to the Crown Store they'd make Crown Motifs account wide. This would make it more appealing for people to turn to the CS for motifs as it upgrades ALL their characters, and thus affects Master Writ drop rates.

Reading thru this thread pretty much decided me. I am giving up even trying until something is done to make the Master Writs more accessible. Shame on Zenimax for such poor game design.

LOL @ everyone trying to spray the 7urd with deodorant.

Based on my experience on the PTS I fully expected to be screwed on master writs when this went live, but much to my surprise I have had extraordinarily good luck with master writs. At the end of the day however, I can still recognise a 7urd when I see one.

It's become painfully obvious, at least to me, that people who like to find stuff in game have been pretty much hosed by the crown store. Sadly I don't see this ever changing but only getting worse over time :(

EDIT: And worse, Writ Vouchers are a currency, but can't be banked. I accidentally accepted a low end Master Writ on alt (derp!) and I was like, okay, I'll be able to do it eventually. And I will, but you can't bank vouchers, so he'll have those 6 vouchers on him forever.

They should be account based, not character.

What the WHAT??? They aren't shared across.... *fume*
Housing is shared across characters, so why the heck is the currency not?
Forget this crap, not doing anymore. All i got was 2 vouchers from 1 writ so far, too much effort for too paltry a reward.

250 voucher is for a craft station that let you make set items.
normal craft station only cost 35 vouchers.

i was lucky to get an easy writ, for light armor prosperous shoes, alessia set in skinchanger style, and got about 80 vouchers from it, so now i can afford two craft stations.

After the first week, i had spent 115 vouchers (the three equip 3 stations and one of those 10v random things) and had 54 on-hand saving up for four, maybe five, attuning stations which will happen over time. i have writs on-hand now for about 90 more vouchers but have to get something before running them (one is bugged deadly strikes, one is armor master and i will wait for attuned station before making that trek.)

of course, i have more than one master crafter.

i don't think this was designed to be "geared for" or tuned for the one crafter running one writ a day to be grabbing attuned stations by the week or even maybe month. This was built for high end crafters and rather dedicated crafters. So, yeah, the lone craft guy might not be able to run thru it like s drag race but dont we have enough content already attuned to and geard to that casual a level of play?

I mean, casually you can make a ton off of tier-1 daily writs with all six crafts with zero skill investments and once you get high level the payouts in gold and writs adds up. So there seems to be plenty of content for writ casuals.

I am glad that across homestead the content allows folks to get in fairly easily but it cannot be "done" in anything like as quick as most of the other content is.

Before it dropped i thought "will prolly have my attunes in placw within a month" and now i am thinking maybe "by homestead" is a more likely timeframe and i like that.

    others wont.

It is either VERY bad RNG or the master crafting drop is totally rigged.
^This. It is either completely RNG or more account based than character based. My alt crafters are out performing my dedicated master crafter.

two master crafters and several alt, yet none of mine are doing anything worth a damn, last few days. :/

I have the same luck as you OP although I have maxed crafting on 8 chars and only do writs on 4 ( because I am lazy ) and I have not had a single one yet

I am starting to feel like they don't exist...

    Hahaha

I have to thank you (sincerely) for showing me I am not the only one who has endured frustration in the matter, because when I told another guild leader and friend about my lack of master writs, this is her exact reaction:"Not one? You mean today or this week right?" Not a single one????"

Let me add my 2c: 5 toons with lvl 50 in all 6 crafting skill lines, one of them is master crafter (all traits, motifs, crafting achievs, etc) so far from patch done 270 writs, got 32 vouchers! Anyway, I need to thank Zeni for all the low material crafting rewards :)

I agree. I'm in the same boat. Several high level crafters and one who has just about everything - including 9 traits researched in everything, just about all recipes, etc etc.

I've had two writs. I have lost count how many crafting writs I have completed since the update, but the drop rate is chronically bad and not in any way aligned to the purchase price of items that require writ vouchers.

    Nice idea, poor implementation.

I don't think anyone is asking for instant gratification at all. From what I have read it seems that they just want a slightly higher drop rate for the Master Writs and I have to say I agree. It's a really good idea, these writs, but the drop rate is insanely low. A little boost would go a long way.

Maybe it's a bug or something because it's supposed to be based on what you know, even alchemy and enchanting. Well I have a character that knows all ingredients (potion and poison) and runes for both and I still have not had one master writ drop on him. I stopped doing the blacksmithing, clothing and woodworking writs after the first week since I only got 4 vouchers from one master writ, not worth the materials honestly. I'll still do the writs on my alchemist and enchanter because the materials aren't that much of a pain or costly but I am not expecting a master writ any time soon.

I have max'd crafters in all crafts. In the last six days I have done dailies in alll of them. So after doing 36 dailes (6 days x 6 crafts) I have received and completed only one Master Writ quest (Alchemy) and received 2 writs. in order to buy one crafting station for my house it will cost 250 writs. Something is badly out of whack with this system IMHO. I don't intend to waste any more raw materials on this futility.

Crafting stations are 35 vouchers, attunable ones are 250. Still I get your point. RNGesus hasn't been kind to me either, even my token poor-luck friend has gotten a lot D:

My main knows every trait on every item and knows all motifs up till this patch (including crown store exclusives which don't count if i understand). New motifs are farming in progress.
I got one 50 voucher master writ on the second day after the release of homestead and after that nothing from his crafting writs until today. I don't expect to get 100+ voucher master writs everyday but for a crafter who knows as much as mine i would expect to get wirts for 5 - 10 vouchers guaranteed a day. Not super much but enough to make steady progress.

Another problem is the payoff of master writs. One of the two writs i got today was a provisioning writ which called for crafting 8 portions of the legendary receipe you can acquiere doing Oozorgas quest line in Wrothgar. I had to spent two perfect roes to get 10 vouchers. Thats way too few for what you have to invest crafting it. Doubled vouchers (ten or maybe fifteen for every roe spent) would be more fitting.

The way the master writs are working right now for master crafts (not sure if that's intended this way) provide simply not enough value for what you have to invest into them.
