Depends on who "they" are. The dev team probably doesn't care either way. The ToS Team probably does not want it for ToS enforcement reasons. Customer Support definitely wants it fixed so they don't have to do it for the players. The marketing and eCommerce people are probably asking for updates on the fix hourly.

Berdusk✭✭✭I had already canceled my sub and have effectively stopped playing as a result of canceling crown crate gifting. I've barely logged in over the past two months. I was hoping the numbers would reflect this among enough players to push ZOS to turn it back on sooner rather than later. The only reason I even know about this announcement is because of Facebook.
Now this? This makes me glad I've begun playing other games.
It also enhances my awareness of how MMOs are just cash grabs and why I should continue to avoid them in the future.7 -

We are not getting rid of crate gifting. As stated before, the issue our team is working to solve is a bit complex. So it is taking a bit of time to get through. We still do not have an ETA to share, but the team is working towards solving this solution as soon as they can.

May 2023May 3:Hi All. As noted previously, we want to provide an update on the next steps toward getting Crown Crate gifting back online on PC. We currently have a prospective fix currently being tested. Once testing concludes, we will schedule a date for the fix's deploy ASAP. This fix will also include a configuration change that lowers the login timer when switching between NA and EU (or EU and NA) realms back to what it used to be. I was leveling an arcanist in a special stream I had chosen based on "Twitch analytics". The stream was a bomb, but I did get my arcanist to level 50 in about 4 hours using only discovery experience and master writs. I didn't have anyone win the giveaway, but still it made for a fun time and a good video. That said, as as growing stream account, this is terrible news. I had just reached affiliate and was going to double down on some crowm giveaways with crowns from my subscription. I had intended to instead gift the crowns to my guild, which is the bulk of my stream's content, but now I'm unable to do that.
