[Permabans being lifted] ZOS how are we as a community dealing with exploits/hacking?

I just don't feel like participation in any more revolutions . They're load and chaotic , an after watching a few dozen , boring . ZOS should just mean what they say and say what they mean . Sure we could all use CE . But isn't that just like people that riot and loot in their own neighborhoods ?

In their defence I did see a lot of thread locks and requests to post in others during the first day of One Tamriel discussions.

Generally I think it's better keeping this thread active on the talk of this topic as it lets anyone new to the conversation look back at the history of it.

As for the issue at hand I still am not sure how ZOS will be able to answer our questions because of their own rules. They won't talk about moderation or disciplinary action taken against accounts and as such can't answer why this one specific user only received a suspension rather than a ban.

There we discussions previous as to how the player supposedly bullied ZOS into repealing the ban but I find that hard to believe. I have known a player who was banned for RMT and he spent the better part of a month fighting tooth and nail to get his account back and when he eventually did it was made very clear that he had zero chances left on anything.

It's hard to discuss the topic without mention of how the player in question today supposedly bullied them but I wouldn't have thought ZOS to back down due to any threats because they have a ToS which gives them all the power to ban anyone they want and no burden of proof.

Did you rehearse that response? It sounds good, and people would almost buy it if your moderators were consistent and followed the rules they cherry-pick to justify their actions.

Should I start a new thread about specific components of players hacking the game? Perhaps one on using a 3rd party program for pve, one for pvp, a thread on ZOS incompetence, and maybe a thread on all of the other times you've fumbled on addressing exploits?

Just split up the discussion about cheating et al in seperate threads focusing on a specific component. Make a thread about cheating in PvP, make a thread about cheating in PvE, make a thread about people needing to be banned, make a thread about people being unbanned and so on.

I noticed this as well. Seems that it's not registering new posts since last visit any more. Also damn at this being 1030 posts now, this is a mega thread.

In regards to their moderation of cheating topics who cares at this point, just talk about it here and when this one is locked for review talk about something else for a while. We can sit and bash the moderators for doing their job or we can continue to debate and demand information and change on the actual subject at hand.

Moderation matters if it is simply acting as a cover up to conceal a major problem. Then the moderators are enabling cheats to continue cheating.

Cheating is now rife on the EU PC servers... we threatened to report a cheater and they just laughed and said they'd been reported loads of times and nothing had been done.

I saw a screenshot of a vMA boss fight where the person had dropoed 35 meteors in a 38 second fight...

I just can't face playing much right now and started Fallout 4...

They can moderate their threads however they want, as I stated in my post. And I have no desire to see this thread derailed. Just pointing out the hypocrisy of their actions. People largely feel like the cheating issue is being deliberately ignored and cheaters are being allowed to return to the game. ZOS has been largely silent on this. The only way they are going to fix it is if people force them to, which they attempt to do by bringing the issue to light and discussing it. Which is hard to do when discussions are locked and forced to come to this single thread, which has in the past been prevented from bumping and now no longer displays that there are new posts. If they spent as much time answering people regarding their concerns over the cheating issue as they do moderating discussions of it, we would probably have a wonderful solution in place.

Again, that's not Alan's job, but it needs pointed out. My search through the forums to compile that list gave me a perspective over how fast these forums are and how hard their job is. I don't like giving anyone grief for just trying to do their job. But when the performance of said job impedes the ability to bring up such issues and draw attention to them, it needs to be stated.

Threads regarding broken gap closers allowing exploits have been closed and directed here, which is discussion of a specific element. Just as an example.

I don't think any moderators are intentionally trying to cover up the issue here . This is one of the most heated topics ever and very tough to keep open without some moderation . If they wanted to cover it up , they could have already .

The problem here is hearing stiff penalties are being handed out for CE users and then seeing the opposite happen in game . Even if there is a valid reason behind this , some form of communication on ZOSs end is expected by everyone . Some have gone as far as saying demanded and I agree with something this game breaking , it's only responsible to give a reason for changing a stated policy .

This is a beautiful game, visually and in concept. I love it. I love the new dlcs and the variety. I would like Cyrodiil to be jazzed up at bit so it develops from 2 years old.

However. Cheats are ruining the game. They use hacks in pve and in pvp, they rise to the top of leaderboards on false premises. I see it all the time - and I know they are doing it.

They must be stopped ZOS, otherwise this beautiful game will end up in the dustbin. People will leave in droves if there is no action. Subs will stop..... and this concept will die. That makes me and many many others disappointed and sad.

Summed it up exactly. It's a good game, I'd love to resub, but with blatant hackers and cheaters being reinstated I simply can not...will not ....continue paying a sub fee to subsidize this behavior, and since I never will buy any of the dlc, this will most likely be the end of the road for me once my sub expires unless ZOS makes a drastic change in how they handle this.

I want to be a paying customer, I want them to do well, but I can't continue under these conditions that are intolerable seeing the pve and pvp leaderboards full of cheaters and hackers. It takes away the point to keep playing.

Personally I don't think they will reban the person or people because of legal issues, they can't just say we looked over our logs? Took 2 weeks you're not banned, nevermind changed our minds you're banned.

But I will be dammed if they try and tell me an almost 600k score in maelstrom from a previous known exploiter, several videos showing speed hacking is a legitimate obtained score.

At this point I don't really care about the person but I care about zos as a company, you have that score sitting on the leaderboards like you are proud of it, showing it to the "7 million and growing". You said you were wiping the leaderboards and I see now why you are not, what a joke.

I do believe there have been a couple of cases of ZOS re-banning after initially lifting a ban, following a revision of details. It wouldn't be common though

I'm keeping a tally of players I know personally that chose to either take a break, unsub or outright quit the game due to the unveiling of CE before DB dropped and now this return of perma-bans. I'm up to about 18 as of today. How many do you know?

@ZOS_AlanG The only response we, the playerbase, are getting about this major issue is moderation on threads. The previous statements about permanent bans have been proven to be garbage unless a few days is a new definition of "permanent." You and your fellow moderators need to start (continue?) shoveling this upstairs.

ZOS is not policing the community effectively. When we report players with video evidence, they go unpunished -- so we the players can't police the community either and it's a waste to time to even try.

It's been 2 weeks since the huge blowup and ZOS continues to ignore the issue and fail to communicate a cohesive, public response. The silence is deafening, and starting to sound like the official plan is to do nothing and let PvP become a hacker free-for-all; "hacks" that require no skill at all to use. With the strategy, before long the only people left in Cyrodiil are going to be a few cheaters and everyone else will be playing something else.

Start shoveling, man.
