It doesn't matter. It was said to be pre-order exclusive but then they opened it to everyone in the cash shop, so at this point who cares.
It's not like Alliance and Horde. There aren't any strong political identities here. Each race is it's own thing. Everything should mingle.

The fact that there aren't any strong political identities here is, to me, one of the primary things this game is lacking. Players just don't seem to become invested in their factions for some reason, and I really feel like ZOS should be encouraging that rather than discouraging it.
Even in WoW, where you have every zone open to both factions (albeit with different quests depending on faction), there's still a real sense of loyalty for a lot of players, and for some reason, ESO just doesn't inspire that.

I feel like it cheapens the decision I made and relegates what used to be a character/RP decision to purely a PvP decision which undermines character identity, but I'm not grumpy that I spent extra money for a feature everyone else is essentially getting for free. I had two years of it that they didn't.

Different quests depending on faction is something many MANY of us wanted @ShedsHisTail , it would have been awesome to fight against the events of the main story of the two opposing factions while you're in those zones... but this is something that would have been designed from day one.
Like many things in ESO.... this seems to be a product of short sightedness.
With how things are though, I think this is a good move.

I agree with you 100%, many people wanted an open world where you could go to the other faction and do quests against that faction. They could do that in the future though, you never know.

@Gidorick I don't disagree, from a game-play standpoint. Like I said, my beef is from an RP perspective, which is a personal opinion that I don't expect others to share.
I think opening the zones is fine, I think allowing people to put any race in any faction is fine.
Although, I do feel like it further undermines an element of this game which has been lacking from the start; faction/political loyalty. It just makes for a livelier world when people actually care.
