Crafting in One Tamriel

There are lots of threads looking at One Tamriel overall but I want to concentrate on one issue I see and a solution for it.

Crafters don't just craft for themselves so they need access to mats and runes of all levels. Currently that's simple: if you need to farm iron, jute and rawhide to craft low level gear just go to the beginning zones and do it there. But in scaled zones like the Gold Coast we get 50% mats that match our character's level and 50% that match their crafting level. If the whole world is scaled, will it be impossible for a CP160 master crafter to gather lower level mats?

The solution for this is simple IF the devs think about it ahead of time. Just leave the nodes as they are now in our alliance's non-vet zones. That way an AD character can continue to get iron, jute, and rawhide in Auridon, a DC character can get those in Glenumbra, and an EP character can get them in Stonefalls. When gathering in another alliance's home zones it would scale just as it does now in silver and gold zones. Plus there are a growing number of scaled DLC areas like Wrothgar, Gold Coast, and Hew's Bane where the growing population of CP160 characters can always farm for mats.

One other issue is that if we no longer have 3 instances of each zone we will only have 1/3 as many nodes. Because the silver and gold zones are so empty many of those node go largely unused so that's not as bad as it sounds, but it will make for much more competition for the nodes that do exist.

Again the solution is simple if implemented: double the number of nodes or at least double the yield at each node. I prefer more nodes because that would make it harder for a farmer to monopolize them all. OTOH more yield per node would reduce farming time.

There are a lot of other, more difficult issues with the One Tamriel concept and they all need to be addressed before implementation, but with a little consideration and planning this one can be solved.

I think the aquisition of low level mats from a high level char is an issue that would need to be addressed.

However, even during prime time I never felt any competition for mats in levelling zones so I disagree making them alliance zones have twice the nodes. It would make them as Wrothgar where you can't make 2 steps without meeting a node.

It is my understanding that all zones previous to the DLC zones crafting mats should remain the intended appropriate level of the zone itself, and the DLC zones remain as they are.

That's basically what I'm saying, but it still leaves the question of how to handle mats from what are currently Silver and Gold zones. If a DC character is in Auridon, do they get iron or calcinium?

High level characters definitely need a way to get these low level mats that doesn't require them to purchase the mats from a merchant. The only issue I see with the OP suggestion is, as mentioned in the post above, there won't be separate Cadwell versions of the zones, so there won't be any way for mats to scale for a DC player in an AD zone, and there would therefore be no way to get Calcinium through Voidstone for a maxed CP 160.

If you're crafting for someone at a lower level then tell them to gather the mats for you.

    is this even required?

I mean battle leveling should be a thing right, or did i get this wrong?

just from my last battle level grind session in wrothgar armor and weapons are pretty much irrelevant, so why should anyone craft low level equipment anyway? ;)

This. I am still thinking one Tamriel is going to make the all mighty crafting bags kind of irrelevant. No need to carry all those mats around anymore.

    No, no, no....

Went thru this on the enchanting nodes.

You need the new 50/50 in all gold/silver PLUS sale of lvl-ctrl mats in stores in game for odd cases.

Even and especially for crafting for others.

    ....

Look, the entire progression system has changed.
The need for mats at X level is driven by how many charscters are ACTUALLY at x level.

Before DB, before CP levels on gear, all the alts hit vet-1 and then had three full zones of content to go thru equipping vr 1-3 gear. Then three zones at 4-6. Those two went hand in hand. It was good to have that much space allocated for all those mats of that level. Characters actually progressed thru those levels. No leapfrogging.

THAT WORLD IS GONE. THAT MATS DISTRIBUTION MAKES NO SENSE NOW.

In the post-DB phase when anything but a firdt character hits 50, they will jump past go, past cp-10 mats to whatever cp gear their account is at. Some will go syraight to cp 160. Some to cp-80, etc etc etc. There is no longer any link between stage of silver and gold the player is running thru and the gesr they csn wear. That link is gone.

So, ZONE LOCKED MATS is practically guarsnteed to not be giving hardly anyone what they want.

The answer put in for runes works and can for all mats all silver/gold zones... maybe even bronze.
It serves the new widely varied distribution of levels needed.
    ....

Now, the question about "crafting for others" smells important and different but its not.

What "others need" is just as shifted as "what i need." Others will hit 50 and not need you to find kresh for cp-10 unless its for their very first char. You dont need one entire kresh zone, much less three.

    ...

Crafts for others takes the following forms:
    Craft for them to wear/use.
Craft for them to decon for inspiration.

In the first case, in a 50/50 THEY can farm mats whereever they are and get half useful. No prob.

In the second case, same applies but also you have no reason not to just make them bigger higher items to decon. You make whatever you are flush with instead of their level. They advance quicker. Or you use their mats ehich are appropriate whereever they farm.

Finally, for odd situations have the emergency option to pay gold to vendors for lower lvl mats. The high end ones, cost plenty, but you harvest them.

Think it thru and you will see the fixed zone mats in the new progression is fixed in the veterinarian vs puppy meaning of the word fixed. Looks mostly the same but doesnt work anymore.

50/50 split between skill and level with buy option for odd cases works better than fixed-nodes-zones for new account-based levelling.
