Sorry ZOS, but your cash shop is one of the worst I have ever encountered, and that's even BEFORE I knew about this decision. People WILL be very upset over this.

Friendly advice: abandon lootchests. People hate them.

They won't abandon lootboxes/crown crates until the court system steps in and smack the hand of another greedy bigger company, or ZOS, but currently has only happened to smaller companies or mobile games mostly, or outside the US.
I think it may take one of the "whales" of this game suing them for their money back when they don't get what they want or feel they lost too much money.

The issue is, as long as people still buy them, they will keep existing.

It's not always consumer power. They often find another similar way, or just place them "on sale". The boxes themselves, the gambling, will only go away when they are made illegal. Every service company ever likes ongoing costs and people paying for services they don't really get. There is a reason casinos are heavily regulated, because everybody wants to run one and run it at such low odds while people think they have a chance at winning.

It's human nature that would be fighting against to get people to stop buying them, which is impossible to fight at that level. You need to stop the party that knows better, the one selling the thing they know is bad. It's just like when cigarette companies marketed to children. That was a company knowing their product was harmful and knowing it was addictive and who best to get addicted because of human nature. The law had to step in.

ZOS will not like it if the law has to step in, which it seems it will.

yeah also true. Lets hope the best. I mean, so many people in forums don't like them either, because drop chances of getting something good is... well not always that good. I would be more happier if they just get the items from the lootboxes in regular crown store for a fair price (not like 5000 crowns for a horse which is glowing and more of a ghost or reborn, or whatever they make up next time) or a house for almost 100 Euro/Dollar.

So, what's this about a new motif only dropping in battlegrounds? Is this correct? Will it be tradeable with other players?

The ones that are coming from the battlegrounds aren't motifs, but outfit styles that are just alternates for Fang Lair and Scalecaller's styles. They'll be dropped in runeboxes which can be sold or traded to other players, if I remember correctly.

Outfit Style Pages of Fanged Worm and Horned Dragon equipment can be occasionally obtained from Battlemaster Rivyn's Reward Boxes, which are obtained by completing your first Battleground LFG in a day on that character. These Style Pages are account bound, and will not drop if you already have that item in your inventory or that outfit style unlocked.

Where a lot of people seem bummed out that the motif is 14 rng crown crate slots, and getting the complete motif will be way overpriced/to hard.

What bothers me the most though is that I don't even want them if I can't get it complete enough anyway in my outfit station to create a look i like with them. They look nice enough, but don't seem very mix and match-able, to specific (so having others craft a piece for me doesn't help).
And I sure as heck don't want it instead of 14 other drops to begin with unless they are instead of low tier consumables (anything is better then lowest tier consumables). Seems unrealistic to expect that though. I expect (obviously don't know) them to be blue...probably pushing the more fun and reachable for gem buys (for me) blue drops like costumes, pets and such to purple and higher. (you could argue they are a costume drop then, but due to the outfit station costs and expensive extra outfits (I thus don't have) a lot less flexible (though dyable in my no eso+ times).

So they basically as the motif works now (separate chapters) they become an unwanted drop, diluting the crate loottable, making the crates a lot less interesting to me personally. Granted I doubt Zo$ in my case would really mind that as am not likely to spend much on crates anyway, this though would make me uninterested in buying them altogether. Time will tell.

Just to add to this, crown crates can seem like not a big deal when you don't care about what's in them. They truly suck when you are after something specific. This move would put 14 specific things to hunt down.

Mounts and Costumes and other Crown Cosmetics doesn't show up in your UI (except crwon store UI) until you get it. Only the ingame obtainable ones are there as a reminder that if you do xy then you will get this or as for motifs, there is the library that shows how many motif pages you have.

If this Motif will be in the Library and in the Outfit station even if you doesnt' have a single one of them, that is a very disgusting tactic against completionist who are not that rich but likes to spend time ingame and some cash also, to have their passion complete.

This will discourage me to complete motifs, also I planed to buy Crown Motif Books because I have some spare Crown, but with this I Will stay away everything Crowm motif related, I even hope that my 1 Psijic Crown crate wont't have a page (better to have 0 then 1), but I won't buy a Crate after that, that is for sure (I only bought 2 until now what I regret now).

Let's put this all together. I haven't seen any post of those meanwhile 8 pages thread which is even close to positive. Not even an I don't care post.

@ZOS does not reply in any way. Not even an "We forwarded to our special department" message (Which I at least have expected, because being ignored on such sensitive thematic is rude and gives a bad taste to it's already bad status)

Almost everyone hates crown crates in general because it's more like gambling than anything else.

Say NO to crown crates and gambling. Do NOT buy them any longer (if you did). Maybe ZOS is waking up, that this is BS and gives us back the normal crown store with reasonable pricing.

To be perfectly honest I'm a broke little scrub so I'm more neutral on the subject. I usually don't attack or defend RNG boxes like this because I don't use them at all in a game. I was just saying it may also be possible to get multiple pages in one box, but nobody hasn't yet. I've been sick all week so haven't been on PTS but assuming normal rules apply here its possible, but not guaranteed (obviously) to get more than 1 motif page in a crate.

Sum this thread https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/407869/is-summerset-main-isle-too-small, plus the two other major selling points (Psijic Skill line & Jewelry Crafting) of this Chapter being a grind, plus a motif that is being used by enemies in delves and public dungeons being sold separately inside gambling boxes (while the chapter itself only has 2 motifs that can be obtainable)... now compare it to Morrowind and Orsinium, or even Thieves Guild and Dark Brotherhood for guild skill line progression purpose... do you get the picture?!

Since they announced Summerset to be released almost exactly a year after Morrowind, it felt like rushed to me. Now seeing how they are implementing the Chapter's features and even ripping of a motif from it to sell separately in a predatory way, I understand what I felt in my guts as "rushed".

The zone is astonishingly beautiful; I also read that the main quest is longer and more satisfactory than Morrowind's, some even saying it's as good as Orsinum's; side quest got praises too; Trial is deemed as very fun. But the other aspects are leaving a sour taste, something I haven't felt with Morrowind or Orsinium (the proto-chapter).

The motif learning is per character. However, for the outfit station all the motifs you learned in all your character are shown there (say you learned all racial ones on your main toon but learned all the DLC ones in another toon, then you will be able to create a outif using all the learned styles from both toons).

Interesting. In theory dups should drop like riding lessons, only you can't cash them in for gems. It's also interesting that it says seasonal purchase from Crown Store instead of Crown Crate exclusive, and that the card is missing artwork. Maybe there's a chance this doesn't go through with being in the crates still yet.

    Hey all,

As with all systems, we read your feedback on Crown Crates and are always looking for more ways to make them a rewarding experience. One of the pieces of feedback on Crown Crates we heard was that the blue-tier items didn’t feel as rewarding as our players would like. For as long as Crown Crates have been active, you have been guaranteed at least one blue-quality card or better in every Crown Crate, so these items are some of the most common Crown Crate items.

To address this feedback, starting with the Psijic Vault Crown Crates, we looked to improve the blue-quality Crown Crate rewards by adding an exclusive Motif – the Pyandonean Motif – to that tier. The goal was to add a bit more excitement to receiving a blue-tier item from a crate. However, we also wanted players to feel like there was more than one way to get this Motif, so we made sure that you will be able to purchase the Motif pages with Crown Gems. That way, if you don’t get it inside a crate, you’re not prevented from acquiring it all together. The Motif pages are also account-bound items not collectibles, which means that you can convert every one you get into Crown Gems if you want. It’s also worth noting that all players have the opportunity to receive free Crown Crates during special events, as well as through the future Daily Rewards system.

Watch for full details regarding the Motif pages and how you can obtain them in our upcoming Psijic Vault Crown Crate article.

So, yes. Crown crate exclusive. Yes, by page.

And regardless of what you've said, Yes, only obtainable through crates. Either you buy enough crates (or earn enough free ones) to get all 14 pages/gems for 14 pages or you don't get them. That's still only one way to earn them.

I'd prefer more focus on making questing and gameplay a rewarding experience rather than crates.
