Well, only way you really are going to get something done about this is to spread the word to other players and gaming sites that report on stuff like this, tell your friends, your guild mates, and have them all make sure not to buy the crates.

They never reply to anything involving crown crates or crown store contents except very rarely when it's related to a bug or glitch. Makes me think that there is company-wide directive to not engage.

This doesn't seem like the "Radiant-only motif drops" that I expected, but it's still a garbage tactic. (But that seems like their standard habit of equivalent exchange: put out something amazing that everyone wants like jewelry crafting, and then sneak in a feature that will *** off a bunch of forumites and start a riot).

Hopefully each page is only 15 gems, and they release the whole book for the customary 200-ish gems price.

I also think its not ok to put a motif exclusively in crowncrates, and, to make it even worse, to rip it into chapters. Seriously? You want us to buy massive crates to find all of the chapters to acquire a new motif?! Enough pp buy those crates to get the new shiny mounts, but now exclusive motif-chapters? nope.. nope.. just.. not ok

Judging by the datamining.. yeah, it's going to either be in the store or in crates, piece by piece. I'm hoping it's just for crowns or gems.. possibly making the entire set equal to the cost of another crown store motif, which wouldn't be so bad. If it's purely rng though.. I'm not gonna be too happy.

Makes me think about it. What if it's meant to get people wanting to buy store exclusive motifs to try crates? Let's just play with these thoughts for a moment in a "what if" scenario. Not saying I'm okay with this, just thinking about it.

• Previous Crown Store exclusive motives were sold at 5,000 crowns.
• 15 Crown Crates cost you 5,000 crowns.
• A full motif set includes 14 chapters (7 armor pieces, 6 weapon categories, 1 shield)

So what if every Crown Crate is guaranteed to include one Pyandonean motif chapter you do not own yet?

While this would set a precedence for Crown Crates, a system like this is already in place with the new Battleground rewards:

Outfit Style Pages of Fanged Worm and Horned Dragon equipment can be occasionally obtained from Battlemaster Rivyn's Reward Boxes, which are obtained by completing your first Battleground LFG in a day on that character. These Style Pages are account bound, and will not drop if you already have that item in your inventory or that outfit style unlocked.

So in this situation the whole thing might not be that bad. It wouldn't be "awesome" or anything like that, but I'd still feel far less annoyed about it and I might even get it anyway.

If I was guaranteed to get the whole motif for X cost I would be ok with it. But being a player for many years has made me not trust in RNG.

Just to leave my feedback: putting motif pages only in crown crates is almost literally insane and a guaranteed poor PR move. Devs and community managers have to make it clear to the monetisation team how poor this is and how it will be seen. I can almost see a player boycott of crown crates being called for.

This is why "it's just cosmetic" is a TERRIBLE TERRIBLE excuse. When people keep parroting that it basically tells ZOS that they have carte blanche to *** people over to ever increasing degrees, since after all, it's "just cosmetic".

But it's not just cosmetic, now that outfits are a thing. People spend time and money perfecting their character's looks and appearances. True, cosmetics don't increase your stats or make you better at the game, but having a nice looking character makes you enjoy the game more, which is the true goal of every game - to let the player have fun.

Look how the motif grind has been steadily increasing over time - first it was complete books (racial styles), then rare complete books (Imperial, Daedric etc.), then rare pages (Dwemer was the first to do this), then rare page fragments (Glass), then rare pages in boxes (Worm Cult). Given that ZOS released two completely Crown exclusive motifs - Stalhrim and Grim Harlequin - and that the player base just rolled over and took it, it's sent the message that ZOS is free to push this lootbox rubbish even further. Now you pay real money and don't even get the full motif, you get the CHANCE of a FRAGMENT of the motif. And given how ZOS will never ever release lootbox odds, you can't even make an informed wager like you would at any other casino in real life.

How is this even acceptable any more? Doesn't ZOS make enough money though the preorders and deluxe editions and the collector's editions and crown store and subscriptions and etc.? The word "microtransaction" suggests that the amount you pay should be smaller than what you originally spent to get the game hence "micro", but now with 100 dollar houses and other crap in the crown store, and now this, there really is no defense anymore.

As a crafter and a motif collector, and most importantly as a PLAYER of the game I would want more opportunities to earn and work towards content in game. I do not want my subscription money going towards something that is going to be locked off, something that I have to pay MORE MONEY to get in the end. These Crown motifs should be available in game. Stop locking off content behind a paywall when it has absolutely no reason to be there in the first place.

But these are gained through playing the game so it's a lot more acceptable. The other is forcing people to spend money on crates if they want to complete motif collection... which should be entirely optional.

Think you misunderstood me. My thought was more like an offer "Buy this motif for 5,000 crowns and you'll get 15 crown crates for free.", except being the reverse.

This is all obsolete if the pages aren't guaranteed or you could get duplicates for obvious reasons.

I'm pretty sure the Battleground motif "you won't get duplicates" means what it did in the Random Dungeon Event.

Your duplicates will not be removed from the loot table, you just won't get them.

I can only agree to this. It is a step to far. @ZOS_GinaBruno is anyone even checking this thread? I think it is time to say something about that obscurity.

EDIT: As a Crafter I guess I can speak for all of the crafter community. This is a punch in the face for every crafter in this game.

I'm sure these are bound, right?

I got use to not getting all of the motifs when they put them exclusive to content I don't play, PvP, Trials, group dungeons.

As a ESO+ member I expect Crowns will only be good for crates by the time its over. they will stop making DLCs purchasable with crowns at least new content DLCs they will make all 4 promised free DLCs system garbage.

FYI, ESO+ is all I will ever be willing to give ZOS, I will never purchase Crowns on their own. And after this year it will have to be an awfully tempting Chapter to get me to pre-purchase again, just so happens you hit my sweet spot with this one.

Motifs you can get in game are often sold for 5,000 crowns. Exclusive motifs are sold for around 2,200 crowns. The Oct one also has so many mimic stones it rivals the big stone pack for value.

It also has absolutely no roots in reality. Many of us opened the free crate on the PTS with no motif piece, me included.

Because you clearly have no idea about the topic you are talking about.

Prior Crown Store exclusives have not cost anytwhere near 5k crowns. They also came with mimic stones.

You are not guaranteed a drop from the crates, and the idea that you somehow cannot get duplicates and will instead get a motif piece you don't already know is just your wishful thinking, it's pulled out of thin air.

Why do you want to defend something when you don't even have the slightest idea how this works?
