My name will now show as:
[@vamp.emily]Vamp Emily
why not just Vamp Emily it looks cleaner/better that way. But then again I like to know who I am playing with in PvP, some people create new characters and I can never tell if it was someone I used to play with before. So the change maybe good for me.

@Roehamad_Ali I'm pretty sure that's what the "prefer character name or prefer account name" setting is for, so you set it on what you prefer to see. Should be under nameplates settings.
I have no strong feelings about this change either way but see the potential for more harm than good w/ this change. There's a difference between being able to find out someones @ name/login name vs advertising it in game. I guess time will tell if it is a good change or not.

What research have you done to claim that 90% of the people will never "opt into" the nameplate system? Please provide me with your sources. Thank you.

give me the username you're using in your e-banking. oh you wouldn't, right? i guess only [snip] would.
and this here is exactly the same from a technical / security perspective (of course without the same impact).
. Not only is it half my login info which is a security issue.

My sources are anecdotal. I asked all 5 of my guilds, zone chat (saw people compain about it too), as well as this forum post. You can nit-pick if you want about how unscientific it is, (and you'd be right, it may be 89%) but it doesn't change the fact that it doesn't look right and many people agree.

Nah, you're wrong. I would never create a username for a game that I would be worried about other people seeing. Maybe embarrassed, but not worried. And if I chose to give you my e-banking username, you would still have to figure out what bank I used, what my password was, use it from an approved computer, know the answer to my secret questions, have access to the email it is tied to, and have access to the source that receives the access code.
Your argument is invalid.

That's the most absurd argument against seeing your name...I'm seeing and quoting your name right now, does that put you at any greater security risk? Why would seeing it in game instead of only in the forums put you at any greater security risk?
Be happy you're not on console, we've suffered through the eyesore of seeing gamertags above our characters for a year now and soon we will likely see our @name along with our character name and title...too much crap to tag us. I just want to see character names and titles, is that too much to ask?
Wait, our User Id is the name that will be displayed? I thought that it was our forum @name.. Not only is it half my login info which is a security issue.

Most people don't use their account name on the forums. It's purely optional.

I don't even remember my account ID name and for console users it may have been our email name iirc...that's something that can't be publicly displayed.
