The real question is: Can it be fixed fast?

This is ridiculous as there are times when I have had to AFK in a friendly keep and come back from afk to the keep being another color. (Yes, I hide if I have to go AFK. It is Cyrodil after all.) So, is this a hack? Or like last night, I was booted to the load screen during the battle at Roe. At the time that I was booted, the keep was half blue and half yellow. When the game let me back in, the keep was full yellow. There was only the NPCs in the keep besides myself. I did kill two of the NPCs and if I could have, I would have set up oils over the flags to wipe the rest of the NPCs. In both cases, I was legitimately in the keep before it flipped. I have a friend who accidentally dragon lept into a keep, and he was accused of hacking. Dragonknights have been leaping into the keeps since beta. It is part of being a dragonknight. All sides of the alliance war do it. Are you going to accuse all Dragonknights now?
What I am saying is learn what a hack /exploit is a leave the legitimate players alone.

All weekend it's been the same names crying this tune. Every time you come to the forums it's the same folks making these threads...not saying there isn't a hack just saying there are far more people playing this game happily and not being affected. Hmmmm what is that I smell? Is something rotten in Denmark? (Sorry to all those from Denmark) it's a figure of speech. More drama...at least I got lols this weekend. Think I will go outside and get some fresh air...something some of you might want to try.

Glad I'm on Console as mods are lame and ruin the interface and now lead to hacks. I don't agree wirh taking server down as i know ZOS will look at data and ban any obe who is doing huhe amounts of ultimates. I just hope it's perma bans and they are removed from leaderboards etc.
VERY clever. The problem can be fixed easily if they act in the social aspect. Heavy punishment. Permaban. Shaming. Impunity is the reason our society is so messed up today. HUMANS WILL DO WHAT THEY CAN GET AWAY WITH. In the real world, that is really hard to prevent or punish, there are extensive trials, appeals, etc. But in a controlled enviroment such as a video game, I don't understand why there is holding back in punish people. I got banned in game for 72 hours for some non politically correct words used in a zone chat debate...that scared the *** out of me, I thought I was going to lose my account that I worked hard for, am a guild leader as well. It worked. Now I behave in zone chat...mostly.
Then you say, SHOULDN'T YOU BE PERMA BANNED FOR SAYING THE WALL SHOULD BE BUILT TO KEEP CERTAIN PEOPLE AWAY? Well, my political opinions have zero impact in anyone's gameplay, I suppose you have to use a limited slot on your ignore list, but really that's all.
Now you have people who googles the program, install the program and proceed to cheat. Maybe they cheating because they think it's the only way they can have fun in game? Or because they want to prove a point? Cause chaos? Don't care about the game? Shove their fake acomplishments on people's face? Whatever, the individual took several steps to cheat. In this case, education won't work. In this case, everyone's gameplay might be direct or indirectly affected by the cheating. In this case, you don't punish people to educate them, you punish them to remove them from society and keep society safe, you permaban.
Why, because poisons?
The problem they've got is their scheduled DB launch. I'd imagine most of their resources are pointed toward this - and now the Cheat hack erupts.
I don't see how they can carry out the work to prevent the cheat software being used, take action against all the offenders, and still launch DB on time.
Something's got to give.
I would not like to see DB launched with the game still open to the current hack. You'd just get more of the same.
Trying to apply a poison would be a bit difficult with 10+ meteors being Gatling-Gunned at you.
You seem to know well about this...Lava_Croft wrote: »There's nobody to punish if you hack smart. Nobody will report you for casting your Ultimate just a bit faster than usual, nobody will report you for farming vMSA with some external 'help'.

Although you may think that this does not directly affect you, the impact of the issue is that a lot of illegitimate gold/gear/ap will enter the game due to such an hack. I'm sure that this does not affect your questing whatsoever, but what about the times when you need a gear upgrade for example? If let's say one day you log in and you find that due to hyper-inflation, things such as Tempering Alloys cost 20-30k gold per piece?
The hackers who have farmed the gold mats are not going to do a mass release. Instead, what they will do is that they will slowly release it onto the market drop by drop, trying to squeeze the maximum profit out of it. Then, they can use the gold that they have gained from such measures to buy up existing stocks of gold mats only to resell them for a higher profit. This will inevitably drive up prices, and thereby affect everyone and everything indirectly. When there is a surplus of gold in the system, prices will naturally rise, and since quests etc don't increment their gold payout to match the new hyperinflation caused by hackers, this will result in items being priced far more then what average players can afford.
The other impact of such hacks is that it devalues all the effort others have put it, though as most of you here say, you don't really care. However, to the people performing at the absolute bleeding edge, this matters a lot. These same people are the ones coming out with builds/strats/guides for the rest of the more "Casual" (I don't like to use that word, really) playerbase's benefit. Who is the one going to tell you what abilities are good and what is bugged if not for the extensive testing and dedication by the more "Hardcore" (Again, another word I don't like to use) players? Like it or not, this series of hacks affects us all, no matter if we realise it or not. This is why I am advocating for a server shutdown or at least a rollback to prevent the damage caused to be too great to be repaired.

This game costs money. Every single cheater account should be banned, then gold transfer traced from this account and all accounts banned until explanation is given why they got money from cheating person's account.
What we need is a group of GMs that will beat the crap out of every cheater or scammer on the megaserver. Make their lives miserable.
I will pay extra for that.
