I am obviously missing something he wants me to see.
So you PM me and ask for info...I begin sharing and you cut me off with an ALL caps reply cause you were and are too lazy to read. Are there more, yes but it's not worth anyone's time to pull an off topic conversation off this thread and then for you to decide to tag me and leave out that you didn't even read the first links.
Then ask me to go to another forum to name shame ppl....cmon man
Prob haven't bothered to read up on older threads I shared with you on this same topic
You've closed your eyes and ears to anything that doesn't agree with your opinion and are quick to side with anyone who seemingly supports your opinion.
What's so hard about seeing people who don't want voice chat at all.
Is it unbelievable...?
AND the reality of it all, while playing tonight I have literally 4 ppl come up and say. oooohhhhh. It's NewBlacksmurf!!
I'm reading your stuff on the forums about text chat...you're right man, keep it up and don't let them get to you.
There are people who don't feel the need to post but do read these topics and some agree with you while others agree with my position.
Then there are those, like the group I just joined in the grouping tool that do not use voice chat or party chat but respond to my PM when I ask them to party or voice chat saying...nah bro. I just play, don't want to chat sry
So, what is your idea of an anti-text post? you wont say who and when, so generalize a quote.
the simple truth is you keep saying things that you simply do not back up.
What is my idea of an anti-text post...is that a typo?
Let's assume you're asking what defines anti-voice chat.
A: Players who will utilize voice chat only if it's the only choice but otherwise want text chat and if added will default to text chat as this is their preferred method of in-game communication.
This also is a group who will party chat outside of the game but for in-game their primary method of cummunication is text chat.
This group also has those who play this game solo only and do not wish to talk to anyone via voice chat or text chat.
People who do not like or want to use voice chat or who often times say they feel forced to use voice chat because they would rather text chat primarily or all the time.
You're asking me to name and specifically identify ppl
That type of comment can fall into name shaming. Which happens to against the code of conduct...I have generalized because that is allowed in the code and I began sharing threads that involve conversations about ppl who are anti voice chat.
Secondly...naming or providing you with a list does nothing but throw those people under the rug for some thread they don't want to be a part of.
And again as I've wrote now a few times...please specify exactly what it is you're claiming that I can't back up.
The majority of my comments were from ESO live information...
How about this...to make it easy on you...cite what specific things I'm saying that are wrong and please feel free to cite proof.
I feel that I've provided information...real info from either the company or from in-game experiences and forum threads that support my opinions. I've also comments in that opinion with facts from Zenimax.
From you, all I see is an opinion based on a small group of other opinions where you're then claiming that that small sample size somehow is a majority and that's why your opinion should be addressed by Zenimax in this thread even tho it's been addressed a few times on ZOS live.
There are way to many things about no text chat popping up all over the web recently. Just have enter in google and its everywhere...
So its not only a few of us that want it, With out proper stats id go as far as guesstimate probably about 75% of the player base are OK with it or are all for it.
25% are probably casuals that would be fine once implemented, I bet everyone would use it tbh...
Yes even you NewBlacksmurf.
I'm still having a hard time understanding why you are so adamant at arguing with everyone on here about it.
You don't have to use it if its implemented (but I bet you will)
Why are you unable to comprehend this thread?
People have given plenty of reasons pro text chat, and alot of people only give negatives to the voice just look through this thread or google it..

""CONS
No chat box
Perhaps it’s because I am a PC gamer and have played so many MMOs, but the lack of a chatbox in the console version of the game seems a bit odd to me. With voice chat being integrated into the game, I can’t say that this is a deal-breaker for me, but I will certainly miss it.
Integrated voice chat
I included integrated voice chat as a pro for the game, but it’s also a con. My first experience with integrated voice chat was in APB, and it was horrendous. Proximity chat was full of children swearing and saying vile things to each other. Then in DC Universe Online, the proximity chat was super sensitive and didn’t function very well at all. I’m not totally against proximity chat because I think it could actually be helpful in some cases. I’m just really happy that we will be able to toggle it off.
As you can see, the major differences in the platforms come in the form of UI elements, which is an amazing feat when you consider how botched some other console ports have been. Although I can’t definitively say that you should buy one version over another, I hope that my list of pros and cons help you decide for yourself.""
GO and google and come back with anything against text chat that's legitimate.....
I may not have said so in this particular thread but why I don't want it because of what comes with it.
-text wall of spam
-more spammers (they are here but I don't have to deal with the text chat making it easier for them to target players
-trade wall of text
-gold sellers
-the arguments and stupid conversations
-the spamming LFG...
-the spamming Guild recruiting...
-the spamming of WTB or WTS....
Those are a few examples and the obvious...I don't want more crap on my screen.
Right now what's on my screen is the compass. That's it
The health, magic and stam bars come up in battle but that's it.
I like it that way and the voice chat pop-ups are very minor.
Adding another box, screen or whatever in-game so that ppl can see something on their screen where all are possible in another way without adding text chat (to some extent) are a few reasons why I don't want it.
Now as for as why it's not needed...
-The current forms of communication allow us to do everything that we "need" to do.
It does drive different behaviors and cause people to move around more. It allows a real dog of war, and creates reason to travel about to find, meet and explore each day.
LFG and trading, guilds and friends all work different than PC in this current form and it's good.
It's very similar to what other console games play like.
I understand many people for whatever reason define game genre by UI as feel the UI is needed in order to truly define the game genre but that's a misconception that has hurt the MMORPG game type.
What Zenimax has done works and works well for console.
I'm not suggesting other changes and tweaks aren't needed or wouldn't be welcomed but text chat isn't "needed".
As I read over different comments and complaints that draw reason or opinions for some to add text chat, in some cases it's pointing out that something else in the game needs to be fixed, changed or adjusted.
I hope that helps you gather where I'm coming from

This is the one he's talking about. So stupid. Just add text chat. Anyway, a good workaround for consoles who want an endgame instead of leaving altogether.

You mean bring it back. Its a core function for communication on PC. They removed it because they had the bright idea of shoving VOIP only down our throats.
Ive got nothing against VOIP being in the game. Its a nice feature for those that dont have friends playing ESOTU and want to chat with others. But beyond Dungeon Runs and Grouping. It falls flat when players have no means of using mic and still need to communicate.

If you're in a car with 4 other people and the air conditioner is on, but you're too cold... you shut the air conditioner off. You don't stop at the nearest mechanic and get the damn air conditioner removed completely. Seriously, you guys need to open your eyes.

Try being a GM of 2 guilds in this game, with over 700 people. Unmanageable with single channel voice chat.
Perhaps this game is designed will smaller, more communal guilds in mind. Personally, my preference is to stay away from giant, faceless guilds who will take anybody & play with a select group of folks where everyone knows everybody & enjoys their company.
But, hey - to each their own.
Funny, seems ZOS didn't agree with you. 500 member limit, forced Trade guilds to buy and sell through guild traders.

This is not that difficult. ZOS messed up. This is an MMO. Give us text.
Your opinion is that the current game isn't ideal for you.
Let's be clear...it works even when voice chat goes out because we have party chat and it's as simple and using the radial wheel when targeting a character to open it
You can post in the console activity feed just like PPP use text chat to WTS, WTb or announce. You can use Twitter or Facebook like the rest of us and even PM or group msg friends on console. If that's not ideal for you...go with PC
Regarding your comment if I don't like text chat...turn it off.
Well if you don't like voice chat only, don't play on console.
See that goes back to you because what you prefer and what's ideal for you the company has created in an ideal way for those who like to game and communicate as you prefer.
Regarding your mechanic example...
If I may have an issue with climate controls in any car I can drive myself or just not get into the car at all. Just as if you want text chat you can not buy on PC and not play on console.
Put another way...if in a car...and I realize the car is on with the AC..I can bring a coat and choose not to complain. Ha know..plan ahead. Or regarding the game you can play on PC and as I did up until June 2015...use Xpadder and Pinnacle for controller support. Turn off text chat and use a vent server. Now that a different game version was released that supported everything I was doing using third party support I removed myself from the situation and placed myself into an ideal situation.
I didn't try and force Zenimax to add controller support or voice chat.
See the difference between me and some of you is simple.....
I found what works for me and put myself into that situation but while waiting...I didn't complain, throw a forum tantrum or try and parade and convince ppl to join my bandwagon.
This is the issue I have with how this thread is handling the situation.

-ANd the biggest one of all...miscommunication which is more than present in the forums and on PC text chat. Compared to voice chat, it's a poor option to resolve greater issues.

What ZOS has done does NOT work well. If you don't like text chat, then turn the box off.
If you're in a car with 4 other people and the air conditioner is on, but you're too cold... you shut the air conditioner off. You don't stop at the nearest mechanic and get the damn air conditioner removed completely. Seriously, you guys need to open your eyes.

-ANd the biggest one of all...miscommunication which is more than present in the forums and on PC text chat. Compared to voice chat, it's a poor option to resolve greater issues.

I honestly don't appreciate the people who want to argue that the console just need to deal. ZOS messed up, every MMO has text, we end text. Whatever we your argument was, went out the window once you said "stop playing console and go PC".

Right so your answer according to everything you post is " If you don't like it go on PC" Well NO. I paid money for it on console and PC just like a lot of people.
I and a lot of other people i presume only bought on PC because it was delayed on console..
The answer IS NOT well if you don't like it go on PC.. Grow up.
Why should we not get a similar experience as on the PC, I'ts not like were asking for the blood of your first born.. Like you are making it out to be.
I've tried to be amicable with you, But you continue to be closed minded and ignorant.

I hope that helps you gather where I'm coming from
Im sure text would be optional...

Why not just add a function to mute players that are annoying you in area chat? And those comparing ESO to PC version why do such a thing when people cry so much about not being able to talk on PC because they refuse to run vent or TS because of FPS issues along with add-ons other mmos on consoles are just copies of their PC versions while ZOS worked to bring you something that you can call your own. Dont get me wrong when I say this but some of you are coming off as ungrateful
Giving in to text chat just encourages more people to not use mics...
NewBlacksmurf wrote: »

My first post!!!
Cheers!
That's great for you, but wait till you get up in the VR levels & you end up sitting around for hours & days on end trying to get groups for dungeons & craglorn quests with no luck. Then tell us how "great" the lack of text chat is ....
If he find s a good guild and group of friends slike alot of players have done since playing he won't have to wait hours.
IF, lol. That's the problem with this game. Too many If's Text Chat's will encourage people to be more social. This games biggest issue is that, ZoS refuses to fix this problem.
Their already people being social able I hear the same thing I would probably have to read in text chat their players talking all the time. Also the only reason I used if was respond to the OP was to be sarcastic he more then likely will find a Guild and group to play with just because you can't doesn't mean he won't everyone Experience is different.People tall all the time and not all of it is bad OK here a example from a hour ago some of you might consider it spam but I consider it hurt warming and something you wouldn't get from text chat.
So I was at a crafting stationed in Waryrest X1 and this player had his mic on and out of no where his father just came and yelling at him and said every cursed word in the boom.Afterwards the player wasn't crying but he was down you can tell from his voice and the people around the crafting station started telling him its OK it be alright and out of no where this man he sounded around 40 started talking to him and he just told him his life story and that when he was young his father was the same way and he told him how he got through it.That thing was beautifully and not one person said anything about it and the kid thanked him.He could have just saved that boys life right their. That's something you would never get from Just a text box.
My example isn't a argument for not adding it but to show you guys not all of it is spam and people playing music.Their are actual conversation and bonds being forged. So please don't say all of it is spam some of it is real and have more players being social then you might think.
so you would have no issue with additional options, right?
How would a companion app help with reaching more people to trade with vs being able to stand in a zone advertising through text chat? How would the app help to manage a guild if all members do not have another device to run it on? How would it help with finding groups to run content, cause I can tell you it didn't help much for Destiny.
The app would have a platform for players to post trades and LFG and anything else using different tabs for you to select and scroll through. All you would have to do I'd post in the corresponding tab with what you need at the time and you can get back to playing until someone sends you a message with whatever you need.Since it a a app made by ZOS they can have it work with In game mechanics so you can send a message to your guilds or change the message of the day to tell your guilds what's going on.
They can Also add a map and have the location of lorebooks and skyshards as well so searching for those would become easier.
There are already sites for both LFG and Trading. However since they are not directly tied to the game, they reach a very limited scope. Text chat is zone based it reaches everyone in the area online at that time.
It seems you are saying that as long as the app has a link to a dedicated trade site, when everyone starts using the app for text chat , more traffic will hit the sites suggested by the app. Thus eliminating the need for a chat box on console.
The app would expand the trade sites scope and help interested parties to find it.
mrskinskull wrote: »Yeah, it kinda does.Their not going to add text chat so sorry for giving a alternative that you all can use.I do have to ask this how long will you all stay of they don't respond in a month or even 2?
No developer of any game has ever changed their mind and implemented something based on player feedback. Nope. Never.
Not when the majority is fine using the system in place and a minority of players what to change it they don't.
While the forums might only represent a minority in number of players, it doesn't there by default represent the minority opinion.
Compare the number of unique posters who want text chat added and felt strongly enough to visit the forums and ask for it.
Now compare that number to the rest of the people happily playing the game without complaint. Its never bothered them that there was no text chat and they have not felt the same inspiration that many here felt. Otherwise they would be here.
I can assume the majority agrees because if the majority wanted text, the majority would have done what many unhappy with the game have done and post in this thread.
Logic suggests that many here saw there was no text and despite being forewarned that there would be no text, purchased this version of the product and then took to the forums to campaign for the change.
Why aren't there more people here agreeing with you?
Because they aren't coming, won't bother with text chat and would be furious if they knew a splinter group of forum posters were trying to slow down development of actual dlc or patches or anything they could be doing to make new content with a sprawling demand post.

-ANd the biggest one of all...miscommunication which is more than present in the forums and on PC text chat. Compared to voice chat, it's a poor option to resolve greater issues.
I hope that helps you gather where I'm coming from
Why not just add a function to mute players that are annoying you in area chat? And those comparing ESO to PC version why do such a thing when people cry so much about not being able to talk on PC because they refuse to run vent or TS because of FPS issues along with add-ons other mmos on consoles are just copies of their PC versions while ZOS worked to bring you something that you can call your own. Dont get me wrong when I say this but some of you are coming off as ungrateful
Giving in to text chat just encourages more people to not use mics...Korah_Eaglecry wrote: »I'm sorry but text chat box is one of the most annoying things on Neverwinter please don't bring that crap to ESO. For you all that cant find friends or people to play with try joining an active guild there are at least 20 pages on the NA Xbox forums alone with some threads dedicated to just making friends. Drop your GT on a thread and watch them come to you. Seriously though I encouraged all my guildies to participate in guild chat and I haven't gotten one negative complaint. We enjoy the no hassle communication while doing any and everything. ZoS is working with silver and turning it into gold. Adding text chat is just a down grade.

Im sure text would be optional...
Define optional in context to gameplay.
If player 1 uses text chat and disables voice chat...
Player 2 disables text chat and uses voice chat...
Then we've only created another issue that adding text chat didn't solve but rather creates another issue that will require yet another added feature.
When ppl say "it will or it should be optional" that comment doesn't come off as you intend it to.
You think you're saying...if ppl want to use all, none or one or the other given them options and freedom so no one feels forced.
What you're actually saying is...give people options and freedom but I don't have a solution for the realities that such a change create.
Honestly...the console would need to support some sort of combo mouse, keyboard and controller with voice chat which brings us all back to what PC offers.

I honestly don't appreciate the people who want to argue that the console just need to deal. ZOS messed up, every MMO has text, we end text. Whatever we your argument was, went out the window once you said "stop playing console and go PC".
Respectfully...that last comment is something you need to learn to be mature and deal with.
All of us have our likes, dislikes, wants, opinions, preferences, etc.
BUT
NO ONE in this thread is making the game.
Here is what's even crazier...some of us in this thread own the game on both PC and console but for whatever reason that's logical to each person are complaining about some form of communication that exists on different platforms in their ideal ways.
See...to add text chat isn't to add just a feature. It's waaaay bigger than that.
Just the basic logistics of putting it on the screen (not considering using it) but just putting it there start with.
-how will we change the buttons in order for players to enable, disable, minimize, resize, maximize, etc.
-what other controls does the player loose or what button combo can we add to create functionality that doesn't take away from what exists.
I'll stop there and no even get into the usage and if linking is added or not and if it's added how do we allow players to link, and keep typing as well as look at linked items in the UI and figure out how to select stuff...
Saying Zenimax messed up is really an immature statement because you're putting down something that either you don't understand or that you made a poor decision or uninformed decision about and have no resolutions for Zenimax.
Let's be clear on one thing...the developers and programmers aren't stupid, dumb, remise or unqualified. Heck most of us can't even qualify to apply for any of the positions let alone are we talented enough for Zenimax to even consider us as an applicant.
So to just throw this attitude at Zenimax and suggest whatever statement you apply to this topic without a realistic action plan is a put off and disrespectful to them. It's even worse when ppl write silly stuff like "I've support this company and they....fix....now!"
All the games on console with text chat...and I mean all of them can't hold a finger to the gameplay of this MMO.
That's why you're here...
Let's be realistic...it took 13+ months to release on console and 24+ months give a date for controller support on PC.
At the very least give them 8+ months to think about announcing implementing any form of text based communication for console.
And even IF it comes, will you welcome it if it's not like PC?
Giving in to text chat just encourages more people to not use mics...
You mean the people already not using mics while there isn't any text chat rofl? You do realize that implementing text chat has no impact on you or anyone else who opts to use voice right. The people you are complaining about already don't use the mic. No reason to not let them have a way to communicate. Especially when that form of communication was in the original version of the game as the console version is a port and not something made from scratch. I have no need for text chat either, but you people actively combating something that will have zero effect on you is quite humorous. I will say ganking is going to be a smidge harder in cyrodiil. But I welcome the challenge.
The ESo console version was not a port they complete made it from scratch to make sure it did not just feel like some port. They didn't want the game to play like neverwinter and not feel rightNewBlacksmurf wrote: »

Regarding your comment if I don't like text chat...turn it off.
Well if you don't like voice chat only, don't play on console.
See that goes back to you because what you prefer and what's ideal for you the company has created in an ideal way for those who like to game and communicate as you prefer.

So let me get this straight. If someone doesn't like text chat, they can turn it off and never have to worry about it again while playing the game they enjoy. If someone wants the option for text chat, they have to go out and spend upwards of 600 dollars plus create a brand new character? Lol seems legit.
It's also worth noting that Zenimax is adding native controller support to the pc version. Want to know something else? Anyone who does not want to use it does not have to use it. Options. Gotta love 'em. I wonder if there are any threads on the forums with people asking for controller support...
I bet the keyboard and mouse people are going to keep on using keyboard and mouse and not try to stop an opportunity for others who felt alienated from as aspect of the game participate in it the way they want to.

I hope that helps you gather where I'm coming from
What ZOS has done does NOT work well.
This is not that difficult. ZOS messed up. This is an MMO. Give us text.

I'd agree with your statement except, that chat was in beta. Worked great. The option to remove it was ZOS thought keyboards would be clunky and hinder the experience. And if I remember correctly, they removed it like a few days before release. So.... you can't tell me they removed the entire workings of the program, or deleted all aspects of the code involved. The framework is in the game. Mind you, it's not like flipping a switch, but the framework and programming is there already. I think most if us are pissed more so the fact that in beta we had text vs the fact that the game doesn't come with it (which is u believably stupid for an MMO).
And console will never be PC. Runs at a faster fps, graphically is better and the details are insane. To be honest, you should never compare the games except for the sole fact that one feels and acts like an MMO where the other feels and acts like a single player RPG just because of the addition/subtraction of a text chat box.

This is why I continue to suggest ppl to go back to PC
Such a change starts and snowball of other changes...it's a console game.
By design it's suppose to have limitations and force certain behaviors. That's by design

People have given plenty of reasons pro text chat, and alot of people only give negatives to the voice just look through this thread or google it..
quoted from first site googled....
""CONS
I hope that helps you gather where I'm coming from
What ZOS has done does NOT work well.
