(Console Feedback)I am embracing Voice Chat Only. HOWEVER, several fixes/tweaks are needed.

I am getting used to only having Voice Chat, and I honestly cannot say that I miss Text Chat at this point for anything other than Trading. I honestly think that I could theoretically live without text chat in this game.

However, the Voice Chat system is still very flawed, and in order for us Console Players to fully embrace it, there are several things that need to be tweaked.. This is a list of suggestions for making the Voice Chat system the best it can be.

If Voice Chat is going to be the only method of communication that we have access to, then we need to have COMPLETE CONTROL over how we use it.

This means:

1. We need to be able to select our Default Channel on Login. It currently defaults to Area if you are Guildless, and to Guild #1 if you have joined Guilds.

2. We need to be able to select which channels load on Startup and which ones do not. If we do not ever want to join Area Chat, we should be able to set it to "Never Join". The same goes for any Guild Channels. for example, a Auction House Guild where nobody talks to each other anyway, we should be able to set that "always off". As it stands, every channel for every Guild + Area loads upon login and we have to manually leave every channel, every time we log in.

3. We need to be able to "Quick-Switch" between all of our Open Chat Channels. We can hear Voice from every channel we have joined, but in order to speak in different channels, we have to stop, go into the options menu, and swap channels. There needs to be a Quick-Swap Chat Channel Menu which functons the same as the Potion Bar(Hold Up) and the QuickEmote Bar(Hold Right). My suggestion, for PS4 at least, would be to put this menu on the TouchPad. The Touchpad functions like a Mouse, in that it has Left and Right Click functionality. I would put the Map on Left Click(Left half of the Pad), and the QuickChat on Right Click(Right Half of the Pad).

4. These settings need to persist after logout. We should not have to manually adjust our chat settings every single time we log in.

Agree, I'm also getting used to the voice chat, was rough but it's growing on me. And ya needs an auction house bc of no txt chat, trading is hard as heck

You will never see touchpad functionality on the PS4 version unfortunately.

Microsoft would pitch an enormous fit if the PS4 version had any functionality not available on the Xbox One version and vise versa.

By the same stance you'll never see a snappable Xbox One ESO app or any otherwise custom voice commands that are implemented at a system level.

That said, yes, these are all options we could definitely use along side text chat.

One of the biggest problems is how everything has to be so gerry-rigged to make voice chat function optimally. Normal usage of voice chat tends to be in parties or with friends in everything else ever, mostly because so few people are incumbent to reasonable mic etiquette. Even most games that stick you into voice chat with only your team for a short 10-20 minute game often have a Mute All button made as convenient as possible because of this.

And hell, let's be honest, random strangers in real life are barely capable of behaving themselves when stuck in almost entirely consequence free environments.

Absolute rubbish. Unbelievable. Unfathomable. Impossibruh! Game will 100 percent fail without text chat. No other aspect of the game has more impact on it's lifespan than text chat.

Imo we don't need an auction house. We just need to have permission to sell at guild traders without being in a guild. Allow guilds to set a tax on non-guild members so there is still incentive to owning a guild market. Could take this idea further and allow different taxes based on relations to allow for more control on the economy.
Knee Jerk, L2P, Obtuse, Casual, Entitled, All The Best, unnecessary mention of CoD

Battle leveling for pve content defeats the idea of progression. Remove CP

Those fixs and adjustments would be great, although for hearing impaired players such as myself a chat box is still necessary .

That's actually a pretty clever solution, not ideal but clever.

For XB1, you can use kinect for any features implemented for PS4's touch pad.

I can already imagine how funny it's gonna look like.

we already do. the Touchpad currently opens the Map.

they just haven't utilized the Left/Right Click functionality to it. You can currently click anywhere on the pad to open the map.

I've embraced the fact that if I set my chat output to 'headset only' then never plug in my headset I no longer have to worry about leaving Area Chat every single time I change areas.

A happy side-effect is that I no longer have any desire to hunt down and kill every last Kinect user on Earth. Such a load off, as that would have taken years.

I meant specific functionality, currently it's the PS4's back/select button. They won't cut it into multiple buttons.

Further, not all Xbox One's come with Kinect now so they couldn't put any major features on it either.

Both platform holders are obsessed with parity on penalty of we-won't-license-your-game-anymore. This is also why we don't just have crossplatform servers, they both think the other has cooties.
