VP vs. XP

I would bet that a fairly large percentage of the active players never bother to visit these forums.

I feel kinda bad for them, if they are blindly plowing through Silver and Gold quests not realizing that they are shafting themselves out of a lot of exp...

In some industries, making miscalculations like this when designing and manufacturing certain products would likely cause people serious injury or death.

Good that the gaming industry exists so that some fairly clever but rather inept people can find work that means they aren't held responsible for their constant mistakes and faulty product output.

    Yay for them :sarcasm/smiley/fail:

@ZOS_GinaBruno Should we hold off on questing in the meantime until the EXP problem is fixed in patch 1.5.3? Or is there some sort of tracker in place that will give us the EXP we should have gained but didn't because of the bug, once patch 1.5.3 goes live? Thanks!

Inside the public dungeons there are groups of 5-6 VR5 humanoid mobs. These yield 82 xp... much like the skeevers that are also outside.
    I don't get it.
You've always gotten significantly less XP in public dungeons. I'm not sure why, but they feel it's necessary.

@ZOS_GinaBruno Can you please answer, should we all take a break or will be be reimbursed for the low XP we gain now? If not, then I'm probably gonna take a break until the new update comes out. That drop in XP is ridiculous, especially for the bosses in Craglorn. Fix the spawn rate, not the XP drop!

Emergency patch it as soon as its finished, please. Given the core experience for ESO is about adventure, exploration, and questing, the feeling of being "jipped" in that experience should be a big enough emergency to roll out a fix apart from the regular schedule. Though I realize any bugs that came out of it - even if the experience was fixed - would likely lead to more doomsday complaining from fickle players.

I'm glad this was brought up in the forums. I was Vet11 after all three campaigns, then 1.5 hit and I gained about 10% progress after two long Craglorn delving groups.

But now I get insignificant exp for exploration! Hooray?

It's painfully slow, makes me think about going back to WoW.

Hi everyone, we'd like to address the concerns with the change we recently made to experience points and gaining Veteran Levels. Update 5 introduced a new system where all Veteran Points were converted to use XP instead, as part of our phased rollout of the Champion System. The plan was for this to reduce the amount of time it would take to gain a Veteran Rank. However, we discovered an issue where you are not currently gaining as much XP as we intended. Fixing this issue is one of our top priorities. We are currently aiming to have this fixed in our next incremental patch, which will allow you to progress though Veteran Ranks at a faster rate than what you’re currently seeing in-game. Thank you for your patience and understanding!

Sigh..I hate to be another naysayer but this is another BS answer to be honest..The lowered XP rate resulting in much more grind was brought up nearly a month ago on the PTS.forums.elderscrollsonline.com/discussion/136087/gaining-xp-on-pts-vet-content-versus-gaining-vp-in-vet-content-on-live#latest

There were other threads on similar subjects as well which I cant ( nor have the desire to)seem to find :( So once again is this answer sincere, or is it because of the massive backlash for the ridiculous exp nerf ?????

Heh heh, next incremental patch is that 1.6 or 1.5.3? XD

The reason this probably didn't get noticed on the PTS is because everyone is already VR14 with all skills maxed and didn't even notice the XP.

I take it by their slow response to a problem they new about before they did the patch that they just want players to lvl to vr1 and quit. That's what's going to happen if they don't get it fixed fast. I have lost 4 days to play now because all my toons are in the lower vr lvl's, So maybe this is not really a game stopper -- it's a game changer

The fact that someone f-ed up with some simple math, I'm ok with.
But the fact that this made it all the way from alpha testing (was there one?) to PTS (where this bug was reported at least by Dagoth_Rac
    http://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/discussion/136087/gaining-xp-on-pts-vet-content-versus-gaining-vp-in-vet-content-on-live
    )
and after that even all the way to LIVE, is unacceptable.
I get it, developers make mistakes, but what about "ZOS reads and listens"?
Please read more carefully and take action in case of such basic problems.

I appreciate Gina's answer to this thread and that this problem is being addressed. I guess we should avoid gaining exp meanwhile because I don't see us (the players) being reimbursed for the exp we should have gained during this bug. But please correct me if I'm wrong.

Yeah I agree 100%, this along with several other bugs like the empty containers bug, existed and where noted in the PTS section YET ZOS makes it seem like it is their first time hearing it. So why do we even have a PTS section if all the bugs are ignored?

The overall goal should be producing VR14 players by the end of Cadwell's Gold.

With that said, Dungeons, PVP, and some grinds should not be completely dead either.

The VR wall hit the population hard not long after launch. Can you imagine if this takes weeks to fix? For me the only solution is to come back once they have actually finished the conversion to Champion levels. It's going to be a rocky road until it's done. Plus Zeni is still quite vague on the details anything could happen and it's not worth the disappointment.

I agree with you about waiting for Champ to come, ZOS seem totally clueless how to get there and are making mistake after mistake .. I actually don't think they have a clue what they're trying to do, as Sage spent most of his time dithering and waffling when it came to talking about it .. he basically admitted he had no real idea.

That is it exactly. If your not leveling, your not paying attention to the experience points. They need to remove the VR14 Template when testing things like this and replace it with a VR1

Although, they did copy our toons over, and all mine need to level. So, if anyone qued up similar characters of theirs, then they may have noticed this. But, I can bet a number of people play the PTS just to have the VR14 Template to make an uber character with play the new content, not to test new content.

For anyone who feels they have hit a wall or if you do not want to move forward because of the XP problem, let me recommend going to Cyrodiil and working the five (or six depending on how you count Chorral and Weynon a priory) sets of daily city quests there. The mobs are VR5 and they are seldom more than three in any group and often they are two or less. Each alliance has a safe campaign that is largely devoid of enemy players so you can usually quest in peace.

Many of these quests are quick as you can complete all of the quests for a city in less than 45 minutes usually. Each city also has a skyshard and there is always one quest which will lead you to a dungeon with a skyshard and a couple of bosses as well. Plus you can work these quests the very next day which make them ideal to use in order to keep leveling but without burning through the one time only quest content in the PVE zones.

My non-VR 14 veteran character will stay retired from adventuring while they sort this out, farming and shopping and crafting while the lowbie alts have all the fun. Maybe by the time the whole clan beats Molag Bal it'll be fixed.

I feel a little bad for the folks who don't know they aren't getting anywhere near the XP they should be. This is a huge issue and it's a shame most the player base doesn't know.

So its a bug.. thank f*ck for that.

Boss mobs = fraction of the exp (and are they easier?) (3-4% ish) = killing 2x normal mobs
Quests = fraction of the exp (5-10%)
Finding new location > exp than killing a boss mob

It seemed to me they had moved to a grind grind grind pathway which possibly was the forerunner to Free to Play and I was about to terminate my subscription there and now (only to find out the same day they renewed for another 3 month).

So if it is a bug what are the timeframes please for a fix?

    This.

If they were respectable about it, they would at least put up a notice on the log in page of the game or something to let all the customers who don't read forums know whats up.

I mean this isn't just some minimal glitch its pretty game breaking. I definitely feel bad for those people. They have no idea and that's just not right. I guarantee there are many, many people who don't bother with forums.

Hopefully this gets fixed soon. A few have said likely early next week for 1.5.3 - that would be fine.

In the meantime, exploring and finding mats, skyshards, lorebooks, etc is pretty fun if you still have any of that left over. Luckily Tamriel is fun to explore even without questing

I'm happy they acknowledged the problem and working on a fix. Thank god it wasn't intentional. But really, is it a wise move to refuse people proper exp for this long?

They managed to hotfix Dragonstar Arena and Sanctum Ophidia pretty much instantly after the patch. I guess that was a lot easier to do than turning the exp back on. But still, how many people run Sanctum Ophidia? Like 1% of the population lol? Compare that with everyone questing, grinding, levelling skills and trying to level up...

I will never understand ZoS priorities. This also needs hotfixing, preferably yesterday.

It was intentional and it is no bug -- they new this was like this and I guess they thought we were all stupid enough to waste our time getting no where. And this idea of waiting until the champion stuff is crazy -- do you really think there will be many that will stick with this game for that long -- get real -- I have seem games destroyed by bad patches and idea's -- the faster they fix their mistake the more players they will save

Exactly. Well, I guess it was technically a mistake if you want to call it that. It was a mistake they were told about 3 weeks ago and a mistake they knew about the whole time they rolled it out. They just chose to do nothing about it until.....whenever they decide to fix it.
