VP vs. XP

VR leveling is just completely FUBARed at this point.

I've been playing this game since a month after launch, and have defended it again and again. And this is the first time I've ever seriously considered unsubbing. That should probably tell you something. :-(

I've got a VR1 toon (my only one, since I'm generally not one to do alts). And I'm not really sure what to even do with him anymore. I went questing last night and my XP seemed to barely move (even after I disabled the Slightly Improved Experience Bar addon, which seems to have bugged out after the last patch). I usually really enjoy questing, but now I'm wondering if I'm not making a terrible mistake even doing it.

I'm actually feeling BAD playing the game now. I used to really enjoy it before 1.5. That's a pretty fricking serious problem right there.

I hope they get it together at ZOS. At this point I just wish they would just roll back to 1.4.7 and stop doing patches altogether for a while (and probably just stop posting too, since their confused and contradictory public statements are more embarrassing now than informative). I'm not sure what the deal is there, or if this has something to do with the layoffs they had a while back. But they really need a new plan and some new quality control procedures. I think they also need to carefully rethink the Champion System and their transition to it. Maybe a roll-back to 1.4.7 and a long time-out is in order.

They need to create a quality assurance deparment, you know, where people test stuff and discover such simple bugs before they reach live servers :P

I love this statement " prevent a wide split among players" -- You know they just might be right there -- all the players that already have a vr14 toon will be happy and all the rest will quit playing and puff no wide split of players -- great plan Gina -- now they should put you back in the padded room

Totally inappropriate and unfair to Gina. She is a spokeswoman in this case. I'm certain none of this can be blamed on her. Padded room indeed.

You want to blame someone, try whomever is responsible for pushing a patch with this much wrong with it live. That person(s) had to have seen the PTS bug reports and chose to disregard them; had to have known how many things were borked with this one. At least someone wasn't surprised by this mess.

I'm going to agree with this to a point.

It isn't directly her fault. But, she keeps putting her name to what is demonstrably false and misleading information. I find it very hard to believe she (and the others who keep posting this crap recently) don't know this. It's a job, I get it. That doesn't mean I like what I'm hearing, though.

That said, @stunning shouldn't have attacked her directly regarding the plan. We all get upset, though, and post things that we don't mean.

Regarding anyone who should have seen the PTS reports... well, I'd assume our forum admins and mods would have. And almost all of this was there for a good 3+ weeks before the patch went live. Then they come back and act like it's all news to them.

That's fair. Something stinks to high heaven about this, but the personal attack was pretty rude.

rofl -- You say I attacked her personally -- you just said and I quote "she keeps putting her name to what is demonstrably false and misleading information" or without being politically correct -- you are saying she is a big fat liar. But giving her a little room that she really may have not known -- she still has to realize that if you ride with them you die with them

You did attack her personally, I merely stated a fact.

And, you quoted the wrong post... it was me who said that.

Don't worry, even if you grind out that VR level completely, you won't level right now. Leveling is bugged in Vet Ranks. Aint that just icing on the sweet roll?

They have said elsewhere that this should get fixed with Thursday's patch and they are reducing the level requirement to 1,000,000 exp.

With that fix we will only run out of content (The Cadwell quest chain) at around vr 6 or vr7 -- being 7 vr lvl's short -- woo hoo only 7 lvl's to grid out -- looking forward to that crap.

Essentially the problem is that the leader's of the game fancy themselves MMO royalty because of DAOC and believe their vision is best, regardless of what the players believe.

I think that this statement is absolutely 1000% true. Everything going wrong with this game is down to this. Get rid of these people and this game will thrive and prosper.

Lets say they will do as they say and lower the xp needed to lvl to 1 million ( Never can be to sure with Zos) That will mean that you will only run out of content by vr6 instead of vr4. They don't seem to understand -- it's not the time to lvl but the fact that we are lvling so slow that we have to fight mobs many times above us in zones we really should not be in. The lvling system needs to be fixed so that we can lvl with the zones we are in not to have to fight mobs in zones many lvls above us and the content running out far before we reach max lvl. That only leaves one thing to do is to grind for weeks on end to try and reach max lvl -- not my cup of tea. That may be the new strategy Gina spoke of but it will not keep many players in the game.

To make things worse in a few months or years (again never know with Zos) they are going to bring on this Champion xp system -- and I guess only the Gods know what a mess that will be

Greetings! I am Maria Aliprando, Gameplay Designer on the Champion System.

We are hard at work on it and I’m here to answer a few of your questions. Most of these questions were also asked during our Guild Round Table in the last two days.

How will the current system change when the Champion System gets introduced?

The Champion System will introduce new past lvl 50 progression for your account where previously there was only an increase in Veteran Ranks and Attributes. The Champion System allows you spend points in the constellations to earn powerful passives such as giving your bash a chance to snare targets, reduce the amount of damage you take from flames or leech health on critical strikes.

What happens to the Veteran Ranks we currently have VR1-12?

We want to remove the Veteran Ranks from the game and rely on the more active progression provided by the Champion System. However, when we release the Champion System we will continue to maintain Veteran Ranks. We have several options as to how we will remove Veteran Ranks but all of them require time and careful planning. In the meantime, we are making Veteran Ranks earned by XP and reducing the overall time it takes to get a Veteran Rank. We are also rewarding an Attribute Point and a Skill Point each time you reach a Veteran Rank.

What happens to the Skill Points from VR1-12? Are they carried over to the CS instead?

The Skill Points we reward will not be removed from you! You will continue to have the same amount of Skill Points you do now. The Champion System does not reward any Skill Points, only gaining Veteran Ranks does. When we take out Veteran Ranks we will make sure that anyone that didn't make it max Veteran Rank will still rewarded with those Skill Points.

Does everyone that is a Veteran Rank get lowered back to lvl50? Or are the Ranks staying, but only being changed to lvl 51, 52, etc instead?

Similar to an answer before, we just don’t know yet.

Should players that are VR1+ still work towards VR12 or should they just wait until the new changes.

Continue to play! We are tracking your XP as you advance your way through Veteran Ranks and even past VR14. When the Champion System comes out we will reward you points right away based on the amount of XP you have earned up to a cap. In general, most people won’t reach the cap and we do not know what that cap is yet. We're still working out that value and making sure to take a look at the XP you all are earning.

If VR leveling does become slower instead of faster after the bug fixes, I hope ZOS explains to us why they changed their minds, cuz the Champion System designer herself said that it was gonna take less time to gain a Vet rank when VP gets changed to XP.
