Regardless, the smaller xp we get now (and the delayed access to better gear) is not something we will ever be able to recover from.
Someone who derped bosses in Crag to get to vr14 is now months... and probably many months... ahead of the people who actually played the "content" ZOS gave us.
So, in 6 months, who thinks that this kind of idiocy won't happen again?
Zos is capping the XP pool so that players are "within range" of each other when the CS transitions over.
To the people saying "calm down, it's for the CS": Is this still going to be the exp amount needed to reach a new champion point? They had mentioned that you should be able to reach a new point every 2 hours (didn't say how, just that on average it should take 2 hours).
This change does not seem conducive to that statement.

That's the thing, we don't really know yet. I'm sure it'll take a lot less time to gain a Champion Point than it will to progress through a VR. That is why what appears to be a slow progression at the moment, may in fact not be slow at all once everything is said and done with the CS.
Hmmmm
Not using any add ons and:
Loaded up a vet character and hovered the mouse over the XP bar, it shows XP
Loaded up a level 4 mule and hovered the mouse over the XP bar, it shows VP, yup that's VP, on a level 4 character.
What gives Zos and is this connected to our loss of incoming XP ?

I guess I'm echoing others' sentiments when I say this, but what am I supposed to do until the CS drops? What incentive is there for me to play until then? I ask this as a player who does not have the same time available as many others. I don't expect to reach VR14 in a day, but I should be able to reach VR14 efficiently while doing something engaging (i.e. questing). I don't want VR14 to be easy, I do want a challenge; however, I don't want it to feel like a chore.
It felt like slow going before, but that was just because I wasn't able to log in for extended periods of time. And I (as I assume many others) am ok with that; I am ok with real life commitments getting in the way of leveling.
I am not ok with feeling like the game doesn't want me to level.

Confirmed, my pre-vet characters XP Bar shows VP, and my Vet Rank 2 character's bar shows XP.
What the fudge?
Interesting. I noticed the same thing, but thought addons messed it up. So it shows even without them? I'll see what happens when I disable them.akalabethb14_ESO wrote: »Hmmmm

Direfrost Keep: Scaled to VR5 for the group leader. (This should have been a normal dungeon, but because of scaling, ended up being a VR5 dungeon).
Players: VR14, VR14, VR5, VR4 (Guild mates)
Players at VR14 were receiving 1 XP per trash kill, and 8 XP per boss kill.
There is something wrong there for sure...
In the end you guys should relax a bit, I am sure they will explain their intentions on Friday during the show. Keep in mind its just a game, take it easy.
They should really explain themselves to their paying customers right now. It's not a difficult question to answer. And it's a fairly vital question in terms of the game if you're below VR14. I don't understand the silence on this issue. Utterly baffling.
One of my characters is VR6 now. I have 414 exp from one normal VR6 mob In Auridon (414 exp, it is not bad) but there is public group dungeon Toothmaul Gully in Auridon and from one mob I have only 82 exp and 165 exp from boss! It is stupid joke and I do not belive it is intentional but ... if it is intentional, it is not a game for me.

I noticed something similar.
I am VR3. Killing a VR1 mob gave me 645 XP which seems okay. Later, I was grouped in a VR2 dungeon (scaled) and killing VR2 mobs in there were giving me about 70XP each, in a group of 3... I can't really make sense of that.

My wife and I are both VR3, we both have been getting 496 xp a kill from the VR2 orcs that are on the SW portion of Deshann, 992 xp from bosses and about 5k from the quests in that area. I found the mob xp to be fine but quest xp is still really low. It's faster for us to kill 10 mobs than it is to do almost any quest.
I'm starting to wonder if when you're grouping for a dungeon if it's following the craglorn group rules, where you need to be within five levels of each other to earn xp. Would be nice to check out how much xp changes depending on what level the dungeon is scaled to and the the variations of member levels.
I'm really not sure about the dungeon scenario though. I was in a group of 3, and we were VR1, VR2 and VR3 (all within 5 levels of each other). The VR2 player was the leader so the dungeon was scaled to his level. I would expect the XP to be split up a bit, but 70 XP per kill for a VR2 mob seems pretty weak when I was seeing 645 XP for soloing a VR1 mob outside.
EDIT:
I should point out that the dungeon we were doing is Direfrost Keep which is not in a VR zone. It is in Eastmarch which what.. level 40ish?
So I wonder if somehow the dungeon scaling is adjusting the mob level/difficulty but not the XP gains.

Sorry that was my fault should have asked rather than assume the party members levels. I knew someone was VR2, thought maybe the third person might have been higher.
Hmm. Wonder what level the mobs normally are in there. Cause that could very well be the case.

Update 5 introduced a new system where all Veteran Points were converted to use XP instead, as part of our phased rollout of the Champion System. The plan was for this to reduce the amount of time it would take to gain a Veteran Rank. However, we discovered an issue where you are not currently gaining as much XP as we intended. Fixing this issue is one of our top priorities. We are currently aiming to have this fixed in our next incremental patch, which will allow you to progress though Veteran Ranks at a faster rate than what you’re currently seeing in-game. Thank you for your patience and understanding!
