Ridiculous that this thread has been open since day 1 of the PTS and yet ZOS hasn't said a single thing about it. Even if y'all intend to go through with this moronic "addition" to the game, at the very least say you hear us overwhelmingly hating this and agree that in the future you won't do it again.

Hey ZOS, here are some more great ideas regarding cosmetics:

-Class locked mounts. You know like for example the Storm Atronach ones should only be usable by Sorcerers.
-Class locked player houses. Who else but a Necromancer would live in a place like Wraithhome.
-Class locked mementos. Stuff like Discourse Amaranthine only makes sense when used by an Arcanist.
-Class locked non-combat pets. Only Wardens should be allowed to have Bear Cubs, duh.

These should, of course, be applied retroactively to the game and would fit nicely with the IA Class Styles.

I really hope ZOS reconsiders this choice.

And if it's too late to go back or reverse the change, then what about introducing a separate version of the styles that can be worn by every class, but lacks the particle effects?

I've given this a lot of consideration since I first posted about it here, and my feelings have changed.

Instead of feeling that this is a bad decision, I now feel it is an ASTRONOMICALLY BAD DECISION.

It would look kind of tacky for a sorc to run around with the nightblade logo on their chest.

    They don't want that.

Literally, you could just make the nb mask a ffa and this would go away.

I see people talking about specifically the nightblade mask a lot, but I also want to add the nightblade legs are really cool with the 3d pockets it has. I was looking forward to those as well. And the sorcerer robe skirt. Not as drastically unique as the mask, but still

I already agreed with this as well. Considering they have the class icons on them (at least the Warden set does, not sure about others), I would think they should stay unique.

They do, I have the sorc set and it emits a static electricity around the character.

So. What exactly is the point of the style page, then? With every other page, be that style page or motif page, you can wear whatever you please regardless of class, race or equipment.
Why is this the exception? What is there to gain from this? The main reason most people have been looking forward to the class sets as style pages is, primarily, the nightblade mask. And most people can't access that because they need to be a nightblade to equip it, exactly like the armor piece?

This goes against the idea of style/motif pages to begin with.

have to agree this is terrible, was deff looking forward to using the nightblade mask. 90% of the stuff they come out with is so lame, but the mask is a bit different. Guess ill only be using on my nb, which i think ill be playing more next update after reading the patch notes.

I think like 99% of the players here just wanted the nightblade mask lol

There will be a motif sometime in the future that has similar style to it.

Which could be super different and sometime in the future could be years in the future.

We first saw the class styles on PTS in September without class restrictions and it went live in the same way in November.

And then a few months later got told they'll be class restricted.
that's obviously not great for people who were looking forward to using these styles, on any character.

    edited for addition:

Dang. That's bad. I'm so deeply disappointed in this choice. It's the worst. ESO was so proud all the years to not force something upon you. Choose your style, they said. Hybridization was done, just so everyone can play everything. And what are they doing now? Limiting unique item styles you can't get elsewhere to a freaking class.

So, I'll still be able to run around looking like I have full heavy armour as a healer, I can wear my Dominion's eagle on a Ebonheart Pact character, I can wear uniforms of houses and guilds I'm not part of, but no. I cannot wear an Nightblade's mask as a Sorc. Even lore-wise this doesn't make any sense whatsoever. In every other TES game I can steal someone's clothes and pretend to be someone else, but no, not when it's about a class in ESO! ;))))

I don't care about the animation. Make this class-specific, I'm totally fine with that. But give the option for the vanilla look to everyone, dang! Give me the illusion of "I defeated a bunch of Arcanists and I can now wear their clothes"!

Disappointed. Very, very disappointed. You can do better, ZOS. Look at this thread. People aren't happy AT ALL.

Yeah, I've decided to pass on purchasing Gold Road on my multiple accounts specifically because of this decision by ZOS. Since I generally buy the deluxe editions, that's a couple hundred dollars ZOS won't be getting from me this year. If they hadn't given us a preview months and months ago that wasn't class restricted, maybe it would have been different, but as it stands I've been looking forward to these style pages since September of 2023. I had entire outfits all planned out that would use several of them. And now we're stuck not being able to access them unless we're on the class would have already been able to get that look just by equipping the pieces of the equipment from IA already, back when the Archive first came out? Color me highly unimpressed and exceedingly disappointed.

something visibly unique would be the effects the class sets and styles give our characters.

if we had those effects as an extra thing to enable or disable in settings or collections that would be fine.
But instead they're tied to outfit styles that people want to use for any character.

most players mix and match different parts of outfit styles together and we want to do that with the class styles too.

plus I doubt you'd be able to recognise the class styles from afar in combat. you might recognise the effects though.

Yep. I was actually getting ready to start on IA until I heard that the Necro style could not be used by other classes, such as NB.

A good style but terrible implementation creating barriers for no real reason.

With the new Class Sets coming up in U43, I think it's time this thread gets resurrected as well.

It's fine that the sets are class-locked. It's not fine that the styles are class-locked. They weren't locked when they were first released in U40, it's only after U41 that they locked them.

I get that the weapons and most of the chest pages have class motifs. For anyone who thinks it's wrong for a DK to wear the Templar style, there's a simple choice: just don't put them in it. But for those of us who would like to, for whatever stupid reasons we have, we should be able to.

I know personally that I've felt completely uninspired to run IA to get the pages since U41 locked them away. As we all say on this forum all the time, we should have options, and this is an easy one to have... we even had it until U41 took that option away.

Please reconsider this and unlock the class styles for every player (and heck, companions too).

I hadn't realized that Class Set styles couldn't be used on our Companions. That's a missed opportunity — and considering that some weapon styles still have their VFX when equipped on a Companion, I don't fully understand what technical limitation there'd be for allowing Companions to utilize those styles. Maybe it has something to do with calculating how many pieces of the style are equipped, as Class Set styles require 5 pieces to show the VFX.

Is this just a thematic decision? I'd consider Isobel Veloise to be just as much a Templar as my own character — if not more so, admittedly. Maybe we'll see an update to this policy when we get our first Necromancer Companion in Update 44 (presuming that's the case) and the new Class Set styles have had time to be tested in the game starting with Update 43.

While I don't necessarily care about the Class Set glow on our Companions, it's clear that they are indeed characters whose Class matches up with those Class Sets. They should have access to those styles corresponding with their Class.

This whole discussion about "class specific" style should not be wear specifically for each class, is just redundant tbh. It makes sense in the context of the world's fantasy, it is called "class style", it has specific glow with coordinated color for each class, it has specific class sigil on the chest, it's basically a uniform for specific class. I really appreciate seeing someone with yellow glow and immediately can tell that was a templar. The whole "fashion should not be restricted" reason is lost on me, because I sure don't want to see someone IRL, dress like a policeman, walking around the neighborhood, but is actually an insurance salesman.

I honestly wish for more class identity, more things that make me feel like fantasy of my class is acknowledged by the game's world. Class specific sets, quests, challenges, etc. But if we can't even have a class specific outfit style (like, just 1), then we are at lost with class identity at this point. "But class identity is all about gameplay", if so, then ZOS should add new class skill styles. Just make all templar skills green, and see how the community would react.

It's very possible that we will get Skill Styles for Class Abilities at some point in the future. If the current batch of Skill Styles is anything to go off of, then if Class Skill Styles were to be implemented, we may see colors other than what was established as that Class's color. I could imagine Nightblade getting purple-colored Skill Styles to be reminiscent of shadow magic, for instance.
