Housing seems fun yet I did find a few things challenging.

    1. The Reguard seats in the pic above can not be sat in.
    2. Often when sitting in a any seat you appear to be standing though your visitor see's you as sitting and vice versa.
    3. Collectibles from mounts and animals disappear from property.
    4. The guild function to invite the entire guild as visitor is not working.
    5. Objects such as tapestries are a challenge to retrieve from outside walls.
    6. We should be able to ride mounts within large properties.

The editor is great ... I really did like the way it is sorted. I found it easy to use. Interaction with objects is great. Yet as in dungeons and trials, I also locked up in the editor which is listed on another post. Death, respawn, relog only way to fix it.

Also, the item limit is too low. It felt like it should be about twice what it is. I'm sure this is at least partly done for performance reasons, but it could use some more tweaking. As someone else pointed out, it doesn't leave room for things like elaborate table settings when every fork, spoon, plate, and apple counts as an individual object.

Agree here. Some people don't want a giant mansion but want just as much creative control over their space. Especially with some of the smaller houses that have spacious backyards, you can't even fill them before you hit the limit. You should either be able to upgrade the item limit, or the item limit should be increased for those smaller houses that have larger maps with enough space in them.

Was the Housing Editor easy to use?
Yes - very. It was even easier to use than the in-game editor in Fallout 4, or Dave Humphrey's furniture mod for Morrowind.

Did you run into any issues using the Editor?
I got lights stuck in the ceiling and couldn't get them out again.

Did you place any Collectibles such as pets, mounts or Assistants?
I did, and that was great - but they do look odd just standing there - some sort of 'wander'/'idle' animation would be great.

Were you able to properly set permissions and see how many items were in your home?
I just used the permissions from the first house each time. It didn't occur to me to look to see how many items were in the home.

Do you have any other general feedback?
In Skyrim, clear instructions are given on where and how to buy furniture. It would be great if similar information was provided for ESO. I did eventually find the 'purchase' tab for the furniture, and I agree - those are crazy prices! - but it was easy to use once I'd found it. The icons on some of the items aren't very clear, so it's hard to see what you're buying - which is fine for the small items but harder for the big ones that you can't just plonk on the floor to have a good look at before hitting 'buy'. Not sure what the 'retrieve' tab is supposed to do.

I bought fireplace I placed in the home, came back later its gone, and no longer in the housing editor???

Made my 1st crafted from a blueprint item: Green level - Breton, table, kitchen - Required 5-Heartwood, 15-molybdenum, and 9-pitch ---- The thing is so small that it looks like a stool.

I have several other "recipes", But table was the first item that was a actual piece of furniture that I could craft.
I am so disappointed with this.

I am seriously thinking not to do anything with Housing.
The table is on the left. On the right is the stool was purchased from the housing vendor so I had a piece of furniture to do the initial quest.

I wrote earlier about the nice controls available in Rift Dimensions. Is it too late to re-engineer the item placement controls to work more like the ones in this video? Or perhaps let us toggle to the traditional 3D CAD-style placement tools?

I have discovered there is a limitation on the amount of 'goodies' you can put in. It would be nice to have an indicator say in the bottom left. IE: "45/50" ..... so planning would be a pinch better to do.
It says it somewhere... top left while in the editor, perhaps?

This is the official feedback thread for the housing editor.

    @ZOS_GinaBruno
[*] Was the Housing Editor easy to use?
Once I figured out that the F5 keybind to engage the editor conflicted with a custom setting of my own- yes. Overall, the interface is pretty simple to use. I really like the collision toggle. Turning it off allowed me to place things like books, candles, clutter, etc. precisely where desired. Larger items like stones, rocks trees could be skewed around for really unique looks. OK, now the bad. The categories into which items are sorted is cumbersome. Naming the categories by function would be simpler. For example, Chairs, Cabinets, Tables, Beds, Lighting, etc. is a lot easier than Library, Dining, Hearth, etc.

[*] Did you run into any issues using the Editor?
Yes. The biggest problem was placing items and having them gone when I visited the house later. Specifically, I purchased the Orcish Chandelier and placed it in the southern downstairs room in the Greenshade (outside Marbruk) home. I came back later and it was gone.

[*] Did you place any Collectibles such as pets, mounts or Assistants?
Yes. They were gone when I returned later. Every time. Every home. No exceptions. Also, animations are boooorrrriiiing!! Pets should emote like they do when following player.

[*] Were you able to properly set permissions and see how many items were in your home?
Yes. This worked fine. No issues.

[*] Do you have any other general feedback?
There need to be more lighting items. Specifically, small hanging lamps, small chandeliers, etc. High Elf homes are too dark. They worship Auri-El after all. Homes should allow more natural light. BTW, Welkynd stone gives blue light not amber.

Suggestion for the future - maybe include a snap-to option with grid? For those of us who are completely nuts about things being lined up.

I tried for a few minutes to line up my weird fish head thinger on top of the pier thinger. No luck! :)

Not sure if someone mentioned this, but you can place items in front of the second entrance to the Ravenhurst house. So players can be trapped. It's the one by the fireplace.

Moved a brazier while lit, and the fire still burns!!! AWESOME. I'm serious, I feel like, who's that guy who does the magic but is a huge tool?
    Anyway, moving on.
I have some tapestries that are kinda half in the wall, half on the wall.
Some paintings and tapestries in the furnished houses can't be moved? If intentional, nm...

To be honest, not sure I want any of this stuff fixed, it's fun playing "Decorate like Uncle Sheo!"

**Edit: Just noticed that the spot where the lit brazier was still thinks it's there. Can't move through it. This is all in Forsaken Stronghold, btw.

    I don't know if there is even an ability to do this, so perhaps I missed something;

But Id really like a clone tool for objects.

When Im placing trees and lil plants around in the yard I don't like going in and out of menus. It feels clunky. Just something like pressing another key like f to clone a currently selected object. Make my gardening and nonsensical object placing easier. :)

Was the Housing Editor easy to use?
    -Remarkably intuitive. Kudos there.

Did you run into any issues using the Editor?
-The patch notes said unusable assistants would have a red glow, but it's yellow and signals "okay" in my book. Maybe a red-orange glow would be better or some sort of floating text.

Did you place any Collectibles such as pets, mounts or Assistants?
-They have a habit of disappearing. The 10-count limit is also terribly low. If it's a performance issue, maybe allow them to be placed without animations.

Were you able to properly set permissions and see how many items were in your home?
-Yes, but didn't test this a lot.

Do you have any other general feedback?
-A Furniture Warehouse similar to the Craft Bag is absolutely essential for housing--I would have thought this was how it was going to work from the get-go. It's interesting that other players here had the exact same idea, but that's because it's a good and necessary one. Allow a player (and permissioned decorators) to store any placed items into the player's Warehouse, and allow placement of items directly from the Warehouse. There also ought to be a gifting option which would allow decorators to place their own non-bound decorations into a player's house so they don't have to constantly bug the owner to add things so long as the owner trusts them--the UI would just have to have a confirmation for the decorators to state that they are giving up the item.

First of all, I want to say to the ZOS-team that what you did is really a tremendous unbelievable fantastic job here.
The range of possibilities is near infinity! (In a certain film they refer to Supercalifragilisticexplicalidocious!)

I spent 5 hours and did only 293/600 ... This will take a lot more hours of fun!

Was the Housing Editor easy to use?
To me it's easy as eating pie in the couch on a sunday afternoon.

Did you run into any issues using the Editor?
Some issues with scaling of objects in relation to the screen view. Trees or other large objects are hard to place correctly the first time when you don't see everything.

Did you place any Collectibles such as pets, mounts or Assistants?
I did! but when I left the house and came back in, they were gone. Is it meant to be like this? (Hope not :))
Also, when I wanted to put my monkey on top of the arch of the well, it was very hard to focus on the flat surface.

Were you able to properly set permissions and see how many items were in your home?
Yeah, house information is clear. (did not test housing permissions yet... I let no-one in ;) )

Do you have any other general feedback?
    Eh, ... I'm happy? ;)

Pets and Mounts. And I agree that they - especially the pets - should do a little bit more than just their idle animation. Pets that are just standing there and looking around really looks weird. And it would add so much if they would actually walk around.
    • Were you able to properly set permissions and see how many items were in your home?
I saw the amount of items. Didn't try to set permissions.

This is more of a suggestion. I would like to see home editor be able to rename your property. For example in the editing tab to the home you should be able to rename it anything you want like "Molag Bal's Estate" and have it reflect on the loading screen as well. Maybe even have the name visible to friends who visit and even on your map. Does anyone else agree?

You can rename properties, but it doesn't go on the loading screen or the map, and I have no idea whether it shows up to guests or not.

These were my immediate thoughts after spending some time with the editor.
    • When in the housing editor, the R hotkey should be renamed from "Browse" to "Access Warehouse"
    • Warehoused furnishings sit in the Warehouse and not the player's inventory.
    • Furnishings purchased in the Crown editor store automatically go to Warehouse, not player's inventory.
    • Players have the option to "send to Warehouse" furnishings crafted or purchased.
    • Likewise the option to "send to Inventory" furnishings sitting in the Warehouse.
    • Ability to move items on a grid up down, left right using arrow keys would allow for more precise placement.
    • Ability to float perspective to facilitate placing things on higher shelves and see top-down views of tables, etc.
    • Reorganization of editor into categories that make sense - Lighting, Beds, Chairs, Storage, etc.
    • Edited to add - In the housing editor interface, when I mouse over a furnishing item I want to see the name of the item.
    • Edited to add - some scaling of items should be included. The ability to make something a little smaller or a little larger to better fill spaces would add a lot.

    1. Mostly, except for this: I tried to build a walkway to the roof on the Hunding's house. Placement was a huge exercise in frustration. Getting the angles right without moving the placement was impossible for me. I did discover after I edited the plank I was standing on (oops) that one can still edit while dead. That is a nice feature, I hope it is intentional because I foresee myself dying a lot to fall damage while decorating with the current setup.
    2. See above. Placing items on top of other items was also difficult for me. Do I just suck at this or can it be made a little easier?
    3. Yes, but I wish they would perform their idle animations. They are a little creepy just standing there still. Perhaps you can consider turning on the idle animations and put an invisible barrier around their placement to avoid collision issues?
    4. Yes, I had no problems with this.
    5. Bear pets are felines and senche mounts are wolves. After dying to the housing editor that starts to make sense in a strange way but it really shouldn't.

I don't think that would be necessary. Newly crafted or purchased stuff should go straight to the Furnishing inventory ('Warehouse', if you like), and never touch the main inventory at all. When selling/trading, you just need an extra tab for the Warehouse.

The Purchase tab of the housing editor is extremely frustrating to use because of the camera.

The icons are no help in working out what the items look like because there's no relation between the two. For example the Arched, Covered and Grated Nibenese Wells and the Nibenese Fountain of the Bay all use the same icon even though they look different in the game. But it's impossible to tell what they actually look like because the camera is zoomed in so close most of it is off the screen.

Only the smallest items can actually be previewed properly, all the others are at least partially off the screen or hidden behind the menu.

Either the camera should zoom in and out based on the size of the item you're previewing or (ideally) it should be possible for the player to control it.

I'm just going to address the general feedback question:

I think this is a very strong addition to TESO. I love that you've taken some of the best ideas from other games that have player houses and created something that works well with TESO. A few comments and suggestions:
    • Something I would love added is a way to change the current time of day while in editing at least. I like the time and weather transitions, but when it's the middle of the night I have to change gamma just to see where everything is, unless I want to wait until day comes. Still, having the option to set time of day within the housing instance would be useful in general as well.
    • I'd also like to see any structure that isn't the house or perimeter walls (if a house has them) able to be moved. It would be nice to fix some of the alignment of structures and walls around my house and remove the dock at the pond (it's not bad, but I can see something I'd rather put in its place there).
    • It would make me very happy to see more outdoors structural elements added: walls, walk ways, arches, etc. There are some very nice walls around Tamriel that would make for fantastic structures. Walls would allow for people to create labyrinths in their homesteads. walk ways would allow me to make my Strident Springs Demesne have a much more formal appearance if I had large pieces of walkways to add. I can only spend so many crowns buying small blocks to build small walls before it eats away at my crown balance. For something I've been trying, using small blocks eats up the object limit balance, and I haven't even really touched the inside of the house.
    • While the editor is very versatile, cursor mode is really lacking. It doesn't allow for anything other than rotating two ways that I found (front to back, side to side). I think it should allow for much more precise rotation using the cursor AND also it should allow for moving items around. Rift for instance allows you to grab one of the axis wheels and rotate depending on the one you select. This also prevents accidentally rotating on any other axis. You press a number key to change the mode from rotation to movement, allowing you to move it using your cursor. The current method of walking things in place is not very precise, and if the cursor could be used to move things, it would solve the issue of not being able to move things in tight places where the objects around you are preventing you from walking something into place.
    • While editing inside my house, the align option has trouble keeping object orientation. Whenever I'd try to align a sconce to a wall, it would flip the sconce. Rotating it meant part of the base would end up inside a wall. It seems like it wants to put the center of rotation at the surface of some things when you try aligning them. Otherwise it worked fine, like placing candle sticks on tables.

    Housing Editor:
    1. Allow for movement up and down. Overall the editor is fairly easy to use, but it would be helped immensely by the ability to hang things(like chandeliers) higher or lower like you can move them back and forth with the mousewheel.
    2. Allow snapping, like image-editors can do with gridlines. This way you can get things much more precise.
    3. Perhaps have a toggle that prevents things(I'm looking at you, woodworking station) from floating in mid-air.
    4. Allow us to shrink objects, or enlarge them(within reason).

    Furnishing:
    1. My gods, the amount of style-materials needed makes my brain hurt T_T. 25 bone for one table? It just seems excessive. 206 for the skeleton?
    2. Rakeipa seems to be overly required. Unless you intend to increase the amount of fire runes dropping from nodes, it feels as if this is going to impact more than just the furnishings
    3. Can we put our cooking fire into the fireplace? Pretty please? It doesn't work if I do so.

    Bugs:
    1. It seems that I've accidentally left a rug floating in the middle of my x courtyard, and I cannot click it within the housing editor to put it away.
    2. Not sure if it's a bug, but when placing the crafting stations, they're finicky as all get out. Most of the time I have to try multiple times, moving them minutely for them to all work.
    3. Chairs and sofas don't work unless they are placed exactly right, and even then not always.

    Suggested future furnishings:
    1. Perhaps 'display' herbs made from alchemy, like 'display' food is made from provisioning?
    2. Furnishing dying like we can dye our gear.
    3. It's been asked for before for other crafting, but please can we get a 'preview' option?
    4. Deconstruction, like you can gear.

What I liked: In general, it was fairly intuitive in how to place and adjust items, and especially with essentially unlimited items, it felt easy enough to make them do what I want. On a much more minor note, I loved that I can turn the lights off if I need to.

What I disliked(aside from bugs): It's very fidgety to align things exactly right, and if things aren't aligned exactly right they often don't work. The number of items allowed seemed pretty low.

Misc: Who the heck is going to be decorating the volcano island while the volcano is strewing ash and lava everywhere?
    PC/NA: Primarily Daggerfall Covenant.

Lennie: Breton Sorceror. 9-trait crafter on everything, purveyor of useless frippery.

This is the official feedback thread for the housing editor. Specific feedback that the team is looking for includes the following:
    • Was the Housing Editor easy to use?

Fairly easy to figure out, although I did run into a couple of obstacles that I haven't been able to fix. One is placing items against walls like sconces and tapestries. I cannot get them flat to the wall no matter what I do. If you use the align feature, it flips them the opposite direction (because I really want a sconce on the floor??). The closest I can get is to have them hanging in the air a couple of feet away from the wall.

The other issue I have is with rugs in certain locations. Today I lost the Tribunal achievement rug because it dropped below the floor and isn't retrievable from any position. Later I tried to use another rug in the Ravenhurst house, and if I placed it on the first floor it would disappear (but still be retrievable) but if I placed it upstairs it worked. Something is messing up there.
    • Did you run into any issues using the Editor?

      See above!
    • Did you place any Collectibles such as pets, mounts or Assistants?

I placed some of each in every property I tried, but they disappear every time I leave. This is frustrating - you might as well just make them able to be summoned if we are going to have to place them again every time we go to the house. Much easier to summon my banker than it is to place it with the Editor. Also, the amount allowed is far too low.
    • Were you able to properly set permissions and see how many items were in your home?

Yes if this is referencing house permissions and not something else. I was able to see my item limit and what I had.
    • Do you have any other general feedback?

Alignment definitely needs to be made a little "smarter" - things that are made to go on the wall should snap to the wall, not to the floor even though you have it in the air. I was also disappointed when I couldn't put Shalidor's books onto my empty Breton bookcase. I guess they can only stack up on normal shelves? I would love it if the Editor could align them onto normal style bookcases.

I agree. I spent many hours in Skyrim creating a library in every single house. I even had the Library extension in one of the Hearthfire manors, and I think it took me a total of 10 hours just to arrange the books in that one house. (Alphabetising! So much fun!)

I was expecting that we would be able to go up to a bookshelf and hit E to move books from our Inventory into the Bookshelves' inventory, just like in Skyrim. And I was very disappointed that this wasn't the case.
