Why are you still here ? (NOT a criticism post)

As the title indicates, why are you still playing this game? For all the broken meta, crown crates and all the subsequent posters crying loud and proud that they are unsubbing and leaving the game, ESO seems to be doing very well, game population wise.

Just like in the real world, people tend to fill out customer surveys more often when they're dissatisfied than when they are happy with the services provided (which goes unacknowledged and written off as "expected"), I'm interested in the players that are still active, be they new or returning or veterans.

Not to say that I'm happy with the current state of the game, the direction it's heading and, unlike my last Lufthansa flight, I wouldn't go on putting happy smileys in every box in the survey, I can't say I'm entirely dissatisfied. And as you can see , I'm still here, still PVPing, running dailies, rage whispering left and right, and putting my non-existant balls on fallen enemies' faces.

So what's your story? What's your reason for keeping on playing?

    It's still Elder Scrolls.
Just so that everyone knows, my Altmer still can't have black hair. About a dozen of Altmer NPCs in the game have black hair. Just saying.

    Meet my characters:
    Command: Do the thing.

Zadarri, Khajiit Fist of Thalmor: The thing was done, as commanded.
Durza gra-Maghul, Orc blacksmith: The thing was done perfectly, in the most efficient way.
Tegwen, Bosmer troublemaker: You can't prove I didn't do the thing.
Sings-Many-Songs, Argonian fisher: Sure, I'll do the thing... Eventually. Maybe.
Aerindel, Altmer stormcaller: After extensive research, I've come to the conclusion that doing the thing would be a waste of resources.
Liliel, Dunmer pyromancer: Aerindel said I shouldn't do the thing. Something about "resources".
Gyda Snowcaller, Nord cryomancer: I will find a way to do it that won't waste resources and make Aerindel proud of me.
Beatrice Leoriane, Breton vampire: I persuaded someone else into doing the thing. You are welcome, dear.
Sahima, Redguard performer: Doing the thing sounds awfully unpleasant and really not my problem.
Ellaria Valerius, Imperial priestess: I'll pray to the Eight for the thing to be done, if it is Their will.

The people I play with. I enjoy the community I have in the game, and I play because I want to be there for them. They are why the game is still fun.

I have been losing many of them courtesy of the lag and the gear grinding, unfortunately, so I really hope those get fixed so I can keep the people I have! <3 The game is nothing to me if my friends aren't there.

TES series are the sole reason I even tried ESO. I love the world, lore (even the broken one we got), and bunch of promised content we might get.

Can't say I dislike PvP even in its current state, with lag, lagzergs and proctards.

Looking at it from a "distance", main reason I am here is hope. Hope to see new stuff, fixed stuff, sharpened maelstorm stuff...

I guess I'm even more weird than I already know that I am, because I still have fun every time that I play despite all of the issues. I think the crates were a terrible idea, and it's discouraging that they were still implemented despite the outcry. The lag and constant crashes in Cyrodiil are pretty much the things that frustrate me the most, but I keep going back and keep having fun still. Oh, and proc sets don't bother me. That's probably because I'm really really used to dying repeatedly in PVP.

    Fix crafting

But yeah I still love the game, but it's getting to be more of a grind than an actual game. Still enjoy hanging with friends, running trials and dungeons.

    This ^

I keep playing because I still have fun questing, the storylines are really entretaining imo. I love the dungeons and trials. Besides, I am trying to get a full set of VO with divines trait, so I have a reason to keep playing.

I can't pvp as much as I would like to since pretty much every time I get to Cyrodiil my game crashes, but I am sure it will get a fix, pvp needs some attention from Zos.

Overall this game is really entretaining for me, I always find something to do, an achievement to complete etc. I recently got the title Monster Hunter and now I want the Daedric Lord Slayer. Besides, for what I have seen in the future content, new and exiting places are being created, and meanwhile we are getting these little events (Witches festival, orsinium anniversary, soon the new year's festival) etc... So these are the reasons why I still play this game ^^

Because strip away the c**ppy monetisation and marketing, and it's actually a pretty good mmo. Although if FFXIV were action combat, I'd probably be over there right now. Much prefer a standard sub fee with all content and updates included.

When something comes along that matches ESO in terms of tone/style/combat that doesn't have lockboxes and communicates with its community consistently, then I'll move over to that.

    Well, I'm here because:

    1. The meta isn't broken at all. People are just complaining because their favored style of play isn't FoTM anymore.
    2. Crown crates are just the canary in the mine. ESO has at least a year left even with those gamekillers existing.
    3. Overall the game is very fun, especially PvP
    4. I'm a huge TES lorenerd, and I enjoy RPing.
    5. I still have 2 main quest-lines and multiple expansions to get through before I finish the story.

Because I love the game. I love pushing myself to get better, to achieve new goals, to get better times, to make more money.

This is the first MMO I've played and no other MMO since has drawn me in like this game does. Even after thousands of hours, I'm still obsessed with this game.

Not to say it doesn't have its issues, like all games. I'm not 100% happy with everything (is that even possible?). But I don't see myself dropping it any time soon, because I am having a blast.

Why am I here? Perhaps I'm dumb and giving ZOS so many chances to fix their game. As much as I criticize ZOS a lot... I still have some faith left in them to do what is right for this game, and for the community. As of late ZOS is losing points on my faith system, especially considering the fact that the crown crates are completely unnecessary.... it's more like showing me how greedy they are by taking an advantage, and exploiting their players who have mental health disabilities for profit.

I'm getting close on being burnt out on ESO due to excessive repeat grinding and farming for BIS gear instead of me having to craft them myself. My DPS heavily relies on the kind of gear that is non craftable (With an exception of TBS and Julianos ), and unfortunately I must farm for this gear because it's not craftable. I think I will give ZOS another 6 months (Going to renew my subscription soon) to get their act in line otherwise I will have no other choice but to seek entertainment elsewhere, and unsubscribe.

Short answer, It's a great game, that's huge.I have loads of cool solo content left to do 1.5years later. Loads of group content. And PvP left to properly get into. It's exciting.

I am nervous about all the proc sets, but they acting on that.

in terms of the moaning on here, well I'm new to MMOs, and on console, so guess I dont have the entitlement feeling that I have any say whatsoever on the shape of a game, and rightly so! For some reason people on forums in general feel that they do, that they can steer how a company directs its business, then when they don't act on it they get disappointed and angry, and rant. Guess i dont get that.

It amazes me how many people that 'quit the game ages ago' comment on posts. Why on earth would you read a forum of a game you don't play. Lol. Funny crowd.

It's managed to capture the TES vibe quite well for a multiplayer game.
The MMO market competition is horrid and is generally far further down the P2W route than ESO.
I have a lot of friends who play.
It's very casual friendly, which suits me personally as I have a busy life.

I do think Crown Crates very likely signify the beginning of the end, judging by the life cycle of other MMOs, but I say there's got to be 6 - 12 months of decent play left in ESO.

It has quite a few faults, but the competition has more faults IME.

PS - have you seen how truly horrid and insane the real world is these days?

I'm not interested in PvP or competitive PvE, and while I do cooperative play I'm also not interested in formal group content. With any game I play my interest lies in the journey rather than the destination, and I pace things accordingly. As such with my playstyle I have never had a single problem with the game in terms of either content or performance. Put simply, I'm still here because I loved the game when I first played it at PC launch and love it just as much today. It's my main MMO home for the long term, regardless of any issues other players may have with it. There are one or two things I'd like to change like the guild trading system but they don't impact seriously on my enjoyment of the game and I don't get uptight about them.

All MMO forums consist of whining. Thats what game forums tend to be used for. But it doesn't necessarily mean that most people don't like or aren't enjoying the game. I'm sure there are tons of people that play that don't even bother visiting the forums. They log on, get a couple of hours of enjoyment, log off, then go about their lives.

    1. The Meta is a Myth. As long as the Mobs die and I don't, then what I am doing works. If I die, I try something different.
    2. Crown Crates are only a concern if you buy them, and as long as it's only cosmetics, they don't matter anyway.
    3. I have all 4 classes leveled, so the developers can do what ever they want. I have parked characters before and will park them again.

Now, why am I here still? It's the Elder Scrolls. It's a fun game, certainly much better entertainment than TV. My GF works evenings so my choices when friends or family are not around are sit on the couch or interact with a game. I choose Interact with the game.
