First off, I PUG a lot. I see many terribad players at max level. Not just to boost my own self....I did fungal grotto vet with a player who's rotation was light attack bow, caltrops...over and over again. Or the wrecking blow spam...or stand at a distance bow light attacking never use a single ability. Full heavy armor DD's , light armor staff tanks?!?

Are everyone buying max level accounts and playing how they want? How do you get there and have no clue? I can't deal with the PUG life anymore. I tried 2 Vet HelRa PUG trials over the weekend....I'll never do that again. Not even hard mode. Just Vet. Having awesome Healers and tank still aren't getting low DPS group through.

Everyone loves to hate on the "elite" players. There's too many players out there pulling less than 10k. I just don't get it. It's so much better when I'm the only bad player in a group. My weekend of elite trials and daily's would have made a hilarious episode of "the differently geared".

I have seen the question brought up about the game being too easy. I tell you no way. Normal mode almost needs to be easier. Vet dungeons...hmmm and Hard Mode....casuals and terribads are gonna struggle and likely give up. A few really good players can carry the team, but most won't make it that far. When you see it takes 5 minutes to burn the first trash mob, just leave.

It would be safe to assume that those 531s got there by grinding just to be able to do endgame content so never developed a proper rotation

More players should do what I do. I know I'm not skilled / geared / built / whatever to perform how I'd need to to do that content, so I don't. I don't run those things, and elites almost certainly have a funner time as a result.

Think about it tho... while leveling it used to be so easy most could do by light attacking. So i guess people new to gaming and so on had no clue about dps and what it means....

And ZOS won`t risk upsetting them by making a test before allowing you to enter dungeons as then you will hear "but i payed" comments like you see about VMA because people don`t want to see they are not good enough.

That said just kick them or leave, no point in wasting time if they are so bad, after 1-2 weeks most will know they can`t do vet dungeons like that and stop queueing or adapt and do better. Because unlike before, now you really can`t do it with 2 bad dps even if you do 15k as healer and the tank does another 10k its still not enough for hardmodes. Especially as you will have to keep resurrecting the bad players. But it will work itself out after they fail a couple of times i guess.

I rarely PUG or join with randoms as it always ends in disappointment. Been playing like 14 months, in BiS gear for 4 characters and know the roles to play.

My friends were in cyro last night so i thought i would hit a dungeon to get another key for a lovely training shoulder piece. Joined and one player CP531 had no food and kept getting one shotted by first boss as he was 14k health. I said mate you have no food, here have one of mine. I gave him wrothgar Max Health+Magika regen as he was a templar and it was the only food i had on that toon applicable to magika.

He replied: You gave me useless level 1 food and im not using that.
I replied: Are you new to the game?. Use the food, buff your health you wont be one shotted.
    He replied: Dont push me.

So i left the group. I am not here to breast feed gimps through the game. When i extend free items it is nice to at least say thank you and if the advice doesnt make sense, just ask to elaborate.

We were on skype with my friends they all laughed and just another reason why shouldnt play with randoms on easy content, never mind a vet trial mate )

agreed on my second account i was cp 80 when i first down vwgt on that account ... got trolled by others cus my cp was so low they wouldnt even entertain me joining them ... i finally found a group ... and one of the dps was trolling (531 cp at that time ) kept posting his ftc results i inturn kept posting my aui results (aui allows for now pause in combat )

i out parsed him by a good 10-15% on every boss fight and his parse lengths were less than mine and on plainer i seemed to get cursed with portals every god damn time ...

i laugh when i see players demanding x cp lvl .....

ask for achievements guys atleast that way u know they have atleast seen it once (even if they was a complete carry)

im a big fan of eso hiding cp lvl above 160

ive encountered alot of toxicity around cp ...

but the way i see it is im skilled mechanically and with my rotation if some dude thinks that cp 560 really matters he/she is prob a complete carry and my time is better spent playing with other non needy mofos

This translates into PvP as well, not just PvE. A max CP magplar with 0 impen or shields came at me just spamming random abilities in no coherent order.

These same people play for a while get beat down and begin to voice opinions on balance, when they have no idea how to even play the game.

ESO lost a majority of its original player-base on PC, and it's pretty clear that it's hard for the new generation to "catch up" midway.

See typically when I do Pug vet trials which mostly consist of hel ra runs or AA only I make it a mission as the main tank or DPS to spot out things that are being done 'wrong'. People who play with me no I don't talk much unless I need to so when I tell them "Hey clear comms real quick" I'll state what I see and what needs to be changed in order to fix the DPS issue.

Example: We had two people who definitely wasn't throwing any DPS at all and the reason was 1 was using dizzing swing (since no bright orange hue which indicates it's a empowered attack i.e. Wrecking blow. Both are bad anyway) and the other was spamming snipe with poison inject.

I said "Hey just wanna say spamming snipe or dizzing swing isn't DPS please fix that using x". Often times they changed n whisp me a thank you for not outright saying it was them, etc.

I don't even know what BiS stands for, every time I see it I think "Bind on...." and then it falls apart. I'm not an elite pve'er by any means, but you don't have to be to do vIC dungeons (don't have Hist so can't comment on the skill level required to do them).

There is not much you need to do in order to succeed, don't stand in red, know the mechanics (or listen to the person trying to explain it), and have a rudimentary understanding of how your skills work.

The 531's you are talking about, I have noticed to be obstinate and leary of any advice to their build...

for example I might say "try putting force pulse on your destro staff to close the portals, it's a lot easier than using impulse. You need to close them fast and the range helps. " They however just get mad a lot of the time and say wgt is too hard and that they like crystal frags on their back bar (which it rarely procs on).

I enjoy playing with a group of cp300's who want to learn the mechanics much much more than the types of 531's who do not even have the willingness or capacity to achieve success.

The 531's and I that play together had stormproof by 350. It's about how much you care about learning and perfecting your abilities as a player!

I'm soloing Veteran Group dungeons with my sorcerer! Yes...Sorcerers are not dead at all.
Though I have max CP rank(561 on PC) and all shiny gold gear.
It really depends on the skill of the player, CP rank and gear.

There is no need to complain about newbies.
I suggest to join a PVE guild and run dungeons with more experienced players.

Yeah was wondering the same thing. Some pugs I drop into I am initially worried because I am the only max level player, and I'm a healer, But we breeze through the entire dungeon. Then I'll drop into a dungeon with a few other max level toons and wipe several times. After an hour and a half I'll just leave the dungeon with a ton of self doubt.

I think that some dungeons, especially the new ones, you really need to learn the mechanics.

I pug a lot too, I find getting a good healer or tank is pretty easy to find, healers most easy, tanks second with some of them not great at holding agro on boss's but enough that you can complete the dungeon....

Biggest issue is lack of dps almost 90% of the time in pugs, usually because finding decent dd's who know what to do and when to do it and actually care about their own builds is like finding gold dust, most of them just seem to want to run on the coat tails or leech off the tank / healer and hope they drag them through the dungeon, if your healer and tank are not also half damage, no way to complete dungeon....

With the recent changes, increased boss health etc etc etc, it has magnified this problem a lot, all the dd's that were getting dragged through dungeons by awesome healers or tanks are now struggling and realizing they were never very good at DD....huge increase in groups just leaving because they realize the dd's do not know the mechanics or have such low dps even if the tank and healer both do loads of damage, you still can't complete dungeon...

I pretty much only play with guild mates now or contacts list dd's for this reason.

Before 1T: PUG success chance by ~60%, depending on dungeon
Now: PUG Success chance by ~10%. Seriously, I joined 6 different groups just yesterday, had to clean up 2 screwed runs (which didn't help me since I missed a pledge boss by that) and had success with just one group. I'm not sure if the vet Content is so much harder (enemies have hell more LP but that's it...) or people with damn low DPS queue more... On the other hand I think the scaling alone is too bad for dungeons. If I see that cp60 chars do less DPS than my heal/buff DK with only talons as "damage" skill on bar...well.
Imho there should be something like a test before you are allowed to enter a dungeon in a specific role. There should be difficulty tiers to allow you queuing normal, queuing vet and queuing vetdlc (or smth similar). Additionally, if you want to run the vet dungeon, you HAVE to run the normal dungeon first to learn it's mechanics. Easy as that I think.
DPS check isn't that hard to implement, first level maybe a non moving enemy to just check damage, second level with movement and third level is movement, care for adds, cleanse that and so on. Similar for healing and tanking (I hate DPS that queue as tank... 19k LP, oneshotet by every tankmechanic, no shield an no taunt but surely a tank... )
From lore perspective it could be implemented as "undaunted training" where some of the undaunted train you in combat. Sounds awesome for me.

The problem most people have isn't lack of skill per se, it's because they've built their entire build around something posted on a forum from someone else. I played this game for months before disappearing for around 6 months and before i left, I ran a templar as my main for many months. I was well geared too. Yet looking back, I had no idea why I was opting for skill 'A' rather than skill 'B' other than because I copied it from elsewhere and it said skill 'A' was better than skill 'B'.

Because i started afresh on the PS4, I thought I'd run a templar again as it's the class i enjoy most. However, this time I decided to build it myself and learn why skill 'A' was preferable to skill 'B', and learn from my own mistakes. It's made a huge difference. If you're gonna copy and paste a build, the chances are, you're never gonna learn the mechanics regardless of how long you play the game. It happens with any plug in and play build regardless of game. You learn nothing past the basics. My build isn't the best by any stretch of the imagination and some people may laugh at some of the choices I have made, but you know what, I know my build from top to bottom. I know what it can do and I know what it can't do. No doubt i will get a better build as i go along as i discover better skills and synergies, but at least I know why something sucks and it's not because I'm parroting someone else.

Also, there's no point copying other builds if you are relatively new to the game because most of those builds are centred around gear which is probably unobtainable to you.

Do it all. Play with guildies, friends, pugs. It's about availability at the time. Many times everyone's in the middle of doing something. Occasionally you get an awesome pug that rips n burns through a dungeon in 15~20 minutes. Then a lot of times not so much. Kind of like how people go crazy over heavy sack. Like I really needed 10 melons? Or that one time I got 5 kuta

I have experienced this same thing also. I was in a group as a healer doing the vWGT pledge the other day with 2 dps both over 700CP. I was cautious going into it because the ads were taking forever to die but once we got to the first boss I realised that together they were doing 20k DPS TOTAL. Thats with Combat Prayer up 100% of the time and SPC as much as possible. Call me elitist or ignorant whatever but I didnt want to sit around healing guys forever while they take their time. I can get 30-40k DPS on my Stamblade at 450CP with no vMA weapons with great sustain.

Another one I remember is doing vHRC and I remember someone at 800CP spamming Vampires Bane. It was an eyesore but I somehow managed to push forward without headbutting a nail.

Ive got more stories, but I do regularly quit from groups if I am a healer and the group takes forever to kill a boss with very low HP.

the situations described indicate it is about people whose knowledge of game possibilities is not very high. The difference to a new but good player and people with little knowledge is very visible. I have never had trouble taking a cp10 into wgt or prison and more recently my friends and me take people under cp160 into cradle or ruins but they are doing a sensible and effective rotation with lower than maxed gear. Those people do fine and the team makes it. But it is very hard to have a cp560 that is spamming only light attacks or one skill or a that uses an expensive dot as spammable skill.
