When I started I thought I was pretty good, until I joined a trial guild and had my 1st DPS test. I got 8k dps. So I went online, searched through builds, got a general idea of what the best skills to be using were. Did DPS test again a week or 2 later and got like 14k. Realized just having the skills didn't make me good. I had to learn a proper rotation so I came to the forums and searched through posts and even made my own post title "help my rotation" : ) there are actually a lot of helpful people here on the forums. Any ways a week or 2 later I tried again and j got 18k. Spent a few more weeks getting to max CP and practicing and I've gotten to 20.5k. Now I've pretty much reached my peak without having master or vMA weaps and it's extremely frustrating because I'd rather be in a real life situation pulled out of the movie SAW than do vMA. And finding a group, much less a good one, to do vDSA is near impossible

Yeah, I have the same problem OP, yet when I ask to run a trial in my guild I get laughed at and told no. I'm cp380, so not a complete scrub. But I was running vet city of ash the other day and one of the "elite 531 dps" was yelling at me to pick the healer up (I'm a tank). So I did, lost agro and he immediately died. (His health was about 15000). Then he gets mad, tells me I suck at tanking, and leaves the group. Got a cp200 player in and finish the last two bosses without a death. Most cp531 players are legit, but some think that just bc they are 531 they are better than everybody else and that's not the case. Rank doesn't mean everything in this game. It all comes down to strategy and how well you work as a team

Remember, there is no AGE limit on being CP531 - only play time basically.

That clueless 531 may be 9 years old, or in my case he may be 47 and have slower reaction time than he did when he was 17.

I'll be the first to admit that although I'm decent in a fight and know how my character class works and more importantly how he works with others, I will never be elite like some of you.

I'm not a meta build, I'm wearing all gold crafted gear (not a fan of grinding for gear and I refuse to put myself through vMSA), and I have leveled DW, 2HD, Bow and S&B, to 50 so I can change up play style at will. I have great individual survivability, buta as such, I'm simply never going to be to the level of play that the elite are.

I don't do PUGs because of the fact that anymore if you are not a meta with the proper monster gear and mad skills, you are simply met with scorn and kicked. Elitism is rampant in PUGs.

This is completely true and should always be kept in mind. I suggest that if you don't like someone or something that you simply leave the group yourself. There is no need to be an *** to people and there are plenty of them.

I remember a guy yelling at me for dying in a normal dungeon Crypt of Hearts. I died twice on the Leviathan as a 630+ CP, this guy went nuts cussing and stating how bad of a player I am. He said there is no excuse for it and I am lucky because the group should kick me. We finished the dungeon just fine, there wasn't an issue with that at all. I screwed up twice, I wasn't paying as much attention as I should, SO WHAT.

People need to calm down, and understand this is a game. If you have a mentality of getting pissed and acting like Command in Chief of your groups you probably need to logoff and get a real life for a bit. People like that are only making themselves look like an idiot.

I died like six times on the Lava Queen in Blessed Crucible this morning as a 600+ CP player.

But it was 3 AM, I had a headache starting, and I was using a touchpad because my mouse was like, all the way over there. At least it was with friends/guildies! So it was all good.

For me the attitude of the player matters more than their numbers. If they're willing to learn, a chill fella or at the very least aren't an ass, then sure, I don't really mind. I mean, I'll point out problems as I see them (apparently need to work on my tone, though, because evidently I sound pissed even though I'm really not), but if I can see that we're making progress, go ahead and push on through! It's people who refuse to accept that there may be another option, or fail to realize that on the other end is a human (sorry, ESO bots), that will leave me frustrated.

I've played with some great CP250-350ish people, and I've played with some craptacular CP600+ people. I think everyone should be given a chance.

While I feel your pain let me use myself as an example of what could be happening.

My toon is set up specifically to thrive in absurdly large PVP battles. I had a stretch yesterday, without a group, where I killed over 40 straight people without dying. Meanwhile, if you catch me one on one, it's very bad for me. 2 on 2 or more is my wheelhouse, but 1 on 1 I'm not all that great. Then again I firmly believe that I might be the best 50 on 50 player on XBox. Who knows? After almost 2 years it is what it is.

Anyway, every time I change my build to something I'm "supposed" to do I get worse. I know my build inside and out, and altering it always blows up in my face.

So, all that said, I need to be carried through all dungeons. I can hit for 50k with Radiant, but I never play them so I don't know what I'm doing. I would venture a guess that many of these lost 531s are in the same boat. I know I've cut down thousands of max toons in PVP who seemed to think turtling and panic was their best defense.

Keep in mind that they might still be learning to play that alt specifically, which might be a fresh lvl 50.

Source: I'm a CR 566 scrub that has a bunch of underperforming alts.
Just so that everyone knows, my Altmer still can't have black hair. About a dozen of Altmer NPCs in the game have black hair. Just saying.

Lets sum this all up for the benefit of the community. Its all about attitude. You can be a good player and not be aware of game changes, gear changes, skill changes, etc. Not everyone is pro, and not everyone is pro all the time. In other words, be humble and communicate, its an MMO for goodness sake. Communication doesn't mean you browbeat someone who isn't running things optimally, and if they're doing well enough, don't be an *** and tell them how big of a noob they are for not using your specific build. Its quite possible they are aware their build isn't peak performance for doing that dungeon, but maybe they don't want to change their build between pvp and pve? As long as they're doing a good job, civility is warranted. Likewise, if you're given suggestions in a kind manner, don't become angry either. Knowledgeable people often have egos, but enough humility to learn.

Fer crying out loud, another one of these threads? I am very much over the CP cap and I have lots of characters and not all of them have all the skills leveled a good character might have. It would be safe to assume that those 531s got there by grinding just to be able to do endgame content so never developed a proper rotation

This can happen. But if you swap abilities around without giving the new rotation a proper field testing, that too can open up a whole can of worms.

In fact, I don't think my current rotation of abilities would work for more challenging PvE without seeking advice on what works. This is due to me mainly PvPing.

I have no doubt that CP being account wide contributes to this immensely. Playing a character 1-50 does not prepare you for advanced content. In the original Vet leveling, I learned more about handling large pulls, self survivability, and maximizing my DPS in post 50 content.

I'm generally a one character type of player, however if I ever level another character to 50 I have no doubt I will be one of these players as I'm learning my class.

But yeah Ive never really understood why some get so upset. I mean at least it makes sense if your healer falls asleep and you keep dying so you might not make it through the dungeon. But ive seen people rage over stuff that is in no way going to stop us from completing the dungeon. That makes no sense to me.

I would say, just be patient, show or explain to them w/o being a jerk, how to combat certain mechanics and you will most likely improve your chances of success. If they still cant get it after a few tries then that's a bummer.

But believe it or not, its easy to get to max CP w/o ever running a dungeon...

2 examples for OP that just proves their point.

    1) ran trials a week or so, was a pug group, I knew to expect nothing... we needed 1 more dps, leader grabs someone. I guess I was the only 1 noticing but all they did was light attack with a bow. They'd make comments about why we are all grouped up and that he's not dying because he's just TCOB from range... he was wrong and I just laughed the entire trial...

    2) dude in a guild I'm in, he's an older fellow, we all know he has his limitations. Just recently he admitted he very rarely bar swaps. This revelation broke free when we noticed him JUST hard casting frags. When asked about his bar setup, he said he had frags on his back bar, and crushing shock on his front bar. He had NO IDEA about the proc for frags. He's CP 600+.... *** mind blown!!!

The overland leveling experience is too easy and does not properly prepare players for more difficulty content because there is never any incentive to re-examine build/skill useage/gear/etc except for people who are by their nature perfectionists.

These players who just nuke zombies "grinding" are so unaccustomed to being challenged or what is legally possible in ESO, that they get REKT in PvP and accuse other players of using a Cheat Engine or blame their failures in vet Trials (BTW OP, they are legit tough) because I exploit by animation canceling or some nonsense to assuage their ego.

Keep making normal mode easier as you suggest and you do new players and the community a disservice.
Make Rush of Agony "Monsters only." People should not be consecutively crowd controlled in a PvP setting. Period.

I'm tired of that basic bro bull *** attitude in real life on the field (usually a college kid who hasn't even met the real world yet), and I'm certainly not going to tolerate that attitude in a video game.

All I can suggest to experienced players is this. If you see a group struggling on the first trash pull, gracefully exit the group if you know that you will get frustrated. Some of us are learning and nothing more discouraging than to be belittled and yelled at. Or join groups with only experienced folks. I see many advertisements for groups looking for certain CP points and "know the fights.

This is weird. Being yelled at supposedly makes the learning process much faster and makes students put way more effort in studies not to feel embarrassed.

I feel whoever said that he would rather play with lower CP players who are willing to learn and try things, then "experienced" players who can't do much.

I had this group just the day before yesterday. Vollenfell, EH2 and COS. Another DPS and healer had 14-15k hp! I asked them if they had food, they did. But were so defensive like "oh I did it many times" stuff like that, in the end I found out what was the thing. Purple food. Why would a healer use it in pve if he can use blue? Well, the guy definitely acted like he wasn't open to advises. So at least we finished EH/Vol with almost no wipes. Of course, those two would die sometimes. And in the end of Volenfell tank said to focus blue or red or some nonsense like that. Another dps focused blue so I just decided to join him, since there was no time to type already. Well, of course we wiped. Then killed healer and it was fine.

Then in vcos that same tanks refused to make the boss eat adds, you know which one. The one after the big spider, that spawns adds and there's a gun or something in the center of the room. He would just be useless tanking the boss, making others do his job killing adds when he could just chain them in or bring the boss to each, which makes the fight way easier since you skip his CC phase.

And it was IMPOSSIBLE to talk to him. I told him how it's done, another player confirmed. BUt he was just "IDGAD I only do it this way so I'll do it this way". So he would keep being useless, keep dying sometimes and it took a few wipes to move on. The last boss I didn't even try to start a hard mode. Was just there waiting for tank to do something, and he just pulled.

That was a pretty bad experience, considering the tank had max CP.

You do not need to have BiS gear or have a great set up for PVE and reaching CP cap by grinding instead of perfecting your build and rotation does not make you a bad player. I have over 600 CP but when put in a trial or vet dungeon with all of you over achievers with perfect gear, builds and rotations, I probably still look like an amateur.

I make no apology for that, I am here for fun and entertainment, not to race through everything in a rush: 'wham, bam, thank you ma'am', outta here fashion. I don't always want to race through a dungeon in 15 minutes flat and am happy to slog it out in harder dungeons with lower level characters to accomplish something.

I spent 3 hours in ICP (normal) the other day, wiping on the last boss with lower level characters. At the end of the day we beat it and the level 42 DPS (with no CP) jumped to level 46 after completion. It may not be your idea of fun but we felt a sense of accomplishment.

The next day I pug with a 'Flawless Conqueror' CP capped DPS who was presumably only using group finder to get his random daily bonus. He did not need the rest of us, especially me as a tank, and just raced on ahead killing most things quickly without our help. This is not what I call fun, it felt like just 'going through the motions', but at least it was quick.

If you use group finder, you have to take it as it is and if you cannot live with that, stop using it.

I've recently been grouped with a "tank" in medium armor who had 2x Two Hand swords equipped and ONLY heavy attacked every monster, sometimes on bosses he used wrecking blow and crit rush.

This was a 531 cp player.

He is now on my ignore list, and blocked.

So a poor player is worthy of ignore and a block? Granted he was ineffective and frankly dangerous to the group, but this is why people don't get better. He is playing poorly so we block and ignore him so he gets no help to be better.

Yes of course he gets blocked!

Why should I waste my time teaching him to play? He should do that in normal dungeons or solo, not que up for vet dungeons who are for more experienced players.
