But how are people scamming with fake items? Clearly you can't sell or trade items that you've made up, so no one loses money and the best case is people snicker at a fake item someone wrote up.
Why not just use the color neutralizer? The same guy who made the color mod also made a mod that removes it.

WE SHOULD NOT HAVE TO INSTALL AN ADDON TO BLOCK ANOTHER ADDON FROM MESSING WITH OUR SETTINGS PERIOD...

As far as the scamming players...you assume that everyone is aware of scammers and what they do when playing a MMO...this is a lot of people's first mmo where it is quite easy to scam them.
I have whispered several people who were talking back and forth to someone about buying a fake item...
This mod needs to be banned flat out...
Hoping for a message form ZOS on their official stance on it.7 -

So you would rather slap a bandaid on a few forcing them to install an addon to stop people from messing with their chat settings...mean while you leave all the other people who don't even know about the blocker addon to be scammed, annoyed and tricked into thinking they are being banned (happened earlier today)

zhevon✭✭✭✭Color text are being used annoyingly and fraudulently. They need to ban the system color and any color/tone nearby; minimally. Hell suspend everyone who uses color for a couple of days because I have yet to see anyone using it legitimately. There is no good reason for it.3

If I don't wish for my screen to display the effects of other players add ons, I should not have to see it.

on a side note: i have the mod that is supposed to counteract the chat colouring mod and i consistently get error messages whenever i dont have it deactivated.
i share the sentiment that a mod should not be necessary to counteract another mod OTHER people are using.
the fake item links people post in chat also tend to be clickable with a "dud" popup box which could easily make some people think their game files are broken.3 -

Actually providing feedback on the forums directly to them on top of the /feedback I did in game is a way to get it addressed.
Clearly I am not alone in wanting this gone and we are showing ZOS that.

D34thly✭✭Well first off I've never in my MMO gaming time 14 years or so have I ever seen so much b****** and crying over a launch or a game lol. You don't like it, don't play it. I know that has nothing to do with this here, but seriously its a game deal with it. If this really was a huge issue I'd expect to see many more posts here.
If you don't like colored chat DOWNLOAD the addon to remove it till they add a strip color in the actual UI. If they actually screw with the API I'm guessing you wouldn't be able to edit chat colors at all in addons which would really *** me off along with others. Secondly this is an MMO the UI is lacking to say the very least and you people not using addons are a minority I would guess. Also guess what ADDONS are exactly that an ADDON to what Zenimax and Bethesda were not able to put in the game as of yet. While ya'll have issues inviting players to guilds or looking in guild stores I actually search for the item I want.. Cause there is an addon for that too lol. As for the fake items who the hell plays for something like that? COD is there for a reason. Also as far as I'm aware you can't make a "fake" item with this addon all it does it change color codes something else is happening here.
TL;DR Man UP some QQing and play the game. Download the addon till they add strip color to the actual game. Any of these below will help. Only need to download one of the three.

RMB over your chat tab ->create new chat tab->RMB over the new tab->settings (or options I don't remember) -> uncheck zone, guild, etc.
Play with that tab active and when you are in the mood, look what is happening in the other tab.3 -

you dont find it strange that the guy who put the colour mod out has to put another mod out to curb its effect?
It is an invasive mod that serves its purpose of Grabbing Attention. In the right hands it isnt used for spam or trolling. Unfortunately this is the internet, and the saying "This is why we can't have nice things." comes to mind.
So back to my original point: if the author had to make a second addon to combat the effects of their first, then you can guess that even the author admits to the effect their addon is having.
TL:DR If the author didnt think the addon was disruptive they would not have made ethe second addon to disable it.
PS: kill that part of the API which allows this mod to affect other player's UI. If that makes it harder to create mods like recount with shared info functionality via hidden chat channels, then we can all turn to the people who abused this mod and point fingers...yaaaaaay for trolls and stupid people!!! yaaaaay :P

That is NOT a solution. That is called workaround. People may or may not accept workarounds. A solution is still needed, though.4 -
Saerydoth✭✭✭✭I haven't *personally* had a problem with this, since I'm already running a chat mod (for spam filtering among other things), and I already have it set to strip color from chat.
However, I agree that players should not be able to change their text color, and the ability to do so needs to be removed. Not just "banning" an addon. The addon just makes it easier. It is still trivial to do WITHOUT an addon.1 -

This is one "protest" I fully 100% support. I was also very pleased I saw an earlier reply with "Post edited by @ZOS_JoanaL at April 23" and appreciate that the Dev Team is aware of this color manipulating "situation".
