Ban Text Color Change Ability (Mod) - ZoS Response Requested

✭✭✭To ban the mod would require API changes and this possibly affects other mods as well which is not a desired effect. Other than that, not everyone minds the colourful chat, aside from the goldspam.
On a different note, I agree that people should not be forced to experience the effects of an addon that not they but someone else has installed.
All things considered I find the disabling of chat colours through an installed Addon the preferable choice to "banning" this mod and causing possible side effects. But I do agree that it's not an ideal solution either.
You know what they COULD do....
Give us options to disable colored chat in-game! Just like most mmo's have for things like minimaps, buff-debuff icons of what we ourselves have cast/are being hit by, and other similar features!

Exploits suck. Don't blame just the game, blame the players abusing them!

And I agree with the OP that we shouldn't be required to install an addon to have control over what colours we see in chat. I want the colours to actually mean something when I see them.2 -

The colours some people use is bad enough but some of the filth I read in Zone is disgraceful

It is absurd and I would really love ZoS to fix this.
I don't care if only the people with the mod can see it....it shouldn't affect those without the mod period.1 -
I dedicated my ignore list to people that use massive amounts of colored text instead of for the spammers (since there aren't any in VR areas yet).

Yeah it is just absurd that we have to work to report them, ignroe them or even get a whole other mod to defend against someone changing OUR settings.2 -

Honestly I dont think they should waste their time with fixing it since this guy has provided a fix already.
That add-on is a pain in the eyes.
I should not be forced to put anything in my system except the game I am playing.
I should not be inundated with a blinding array of colors by twits, hackers, and spammers.
I should not be forced to put in an add-on, from the very same person that created the annoyance, to counteract the effects caused by the original add-on. Talk about a scam.
The abuses this add-on has been featured in are numerous and appalling. It easily on the borders exploitation and definitely falls into harassment.
If ZoS were to change the makeup for the color control it could go a long way. As it was mentioned before that the colors were able to be changed prior too the faceroll add-on for rainbows.
There is little doubt, in my fullest belief, that this issue needs addressing.2 -

I do appreciate your reply man, its just I don't feel like I should have to install an addon just to block another addon. I already had to install an anti goldspam addon because they haven't got that under control yet.
This is just getting out of hand...no one should be able to influence my set chat color and the fact people are still able to do it is increasingly frustrating.
Heck as I type this I look at my other monitor and see someone taking up pretty much the entire box with 7 colors....
It is very VERY distracting.
One more or less addon for you to have can not do any harm.. I meen theres so much room for UI improvment in this game that its almost impossible to play somewhat comfortable at all without them.
I have no add-ons, and no need or desire to add one now. I agree with what others have said here...another player's add-on should not effect my chat color.

Yes, it should. I agree that this is an issue that needs to be fixed, but people are focusing on the wrong thing here. The issue is *not* the addon. The issue is that you can type things like |cfffff in chat and it will change your text color. All the addon does is simplify this so you don't need to remember the codes. The chat system needs to be modified to no longer accept these codes.

Yeah last night someone was typing in all rainbow just to disrupt zone chat in pvp saying.
"You wont to SH#4 ZOS WONT DO SH@# YOU ANT TOUCH ME" and proceeded to spam that over and over again simply cause people asked him to stop.
Wee all ignored him/reported him but had to endure it the entire time we were fighting before we could stop, hit . then scroll up to find his name cause he was posting to make it hard to find his name, right click and hit ignore.

I am totally against forcing the colour text on people who don't want it, and forcing people to install a mod because it's the only way to fix it (when a lot of people like to be mod-free). It's pretty unacceptable.
I don't remember any other mod impacting all players, whether they have the mod installed or not

Darzil✭✭✭/bugged it. I can set the colour for different channels in game, other players can overwrite that decision, therefore it looks like a bug.0

Ummaguma✭✭✭a few people made valid points... its not the addOn, its the ability to change text color in general... so ZOS, please uncheck the box that allows such "code" to work in Public chat(zone, say, yell...)please, and maybe give guild leaders the option to check that box for their guilds.

Fairydragon3✭✭✭✭I for one dont mind the colors. anyone who uses the rainbow format is an idiot, but it really helps me read the chat easier. On day one it was so hard to read chat looking for guild members and more guilds to join. This should have not been an addon, but an implementation on ZOS's end, so they could control the situation.
Now, this is not the situation. If you people really don't like the addon, then you should really just get it an use it to hide the colors, like everyone else suggested. yes you dont want to have to do that, But is it really that hard to do. Your' only other option at this time is that or just ignore it. Your choice.

Like, some simple checkbox. If you have addon '*** rainbow text' installed, you see said text, If not, all chat effects, aside default colors get disabled. This way lowers of rainbow text can enjoy it as much as they want without affecting anyone.1 -
