Ban Text Color Change Ability (Mod) - ZoS Response Requested

This mod where people can change the text color is getting out of control.

Today people have been faking system messages and causing chaos with it. On top of that I am darn tired of having a strobe light of colors in zone chat.

I am the one who should designate the colors of my chat, not some jerk that wants to type a paragraph is 6 different colors.

For those who say "Just turn zone off" no.... I shouldn't have to...this is bull crap.

I am hoping for a ZOS response on their stance for this mod.


BAN THIS MOD RIGHT AWAY PLEASE!

Edit: No person should ever be able to change my default settings, nor should I be required to install an additional mod to stop people from doing so.

This is affecting my gameplay and I would like an official ZoS response on the matter.

It has been getting annoying.. not recommending fire for fire.. but I believe having the addon installed gives you an option to strip out colour from those using the addon too.

I do appreciate your reply man, its just I don't feel like I should have to install an addon just to block another addon. I already had to install an anti goldspam addon because they haven't got that under control yet.

This is just getting out of hand...no one should be able to influence my set chat color and the fact people are still able to do it is increasingly frustrating.

Heck as I type this I look at my other monitor and see someone taking up pretty much the entire box with 7 colors....

It is very VERY distracting.

Yeah I mean while that is funny and all, people shouldn't be able to use the mod to make legit looking links or anything else.

The mod itself really needs to be banned.

I use the pChat Addon and it has a feature to remove the coloured text.

Agree. The first message I saw that was in rainbow text was very distracting. Now it's popping up all over the place. There's no legitimate need for people to be able to change their chat colors. The only reason to do it is to troll or annoy people.

Colored text isn't causing any problems. It's made to be a fun little gimmick to screw around with text colors.

People just tend to *** bricks when someone is using the color of a system message. Y'know, because they can't look at the text for 2 seconds and find out it's fake.

Flat out lie...

It is effecting mine and many other people's gameplay by having distracting colors flashing in our zone chat. People are spoofing items and gold spammers are now using it to be more annoying than ever.

All of that on top of people spoofing system messages.

There is no reason another player should have the ability to modify my chat text color

Yeah I saw one where bots used blank space so it actually did look like a server message. IE: (Text was in yellow) that was flooding a zone every minute lol.

It's incredible ugly and annoying, I say remove it too and make it impossible to screw around with stuff like that.

We should not be required to get an addon to block another addon screwing with our text colors.

To ban the mod would require API changes and this possibly affects other mods as well which is not a desired effect. Other than that, not everyone minds the colourful chat, aside from the goldspam.
On a different note, I agree that people should not be forced to experience the effects of an addon that not they but someone else has installed.
All things considered I find the disabling of chat colours through an installed Addon the preferable choice to "banning" this mod and causing possible side effects. But I do agree that it's not an ideal solution either.

Are they mods? Or just key codes you can enter into chat? I know I've accidentally made the chat display bogus items before. They have an odd code for each item (this is why your chat fills up after listing only 3 items, but you can type in chat in great length).. I'm pretty sure you can do that without any mods.

It is an addon that people can download.

The longer it is out the more it is abused. I wouldn't care if only the people with the mod could see it...but there is no reason someone else should be able to use a mod to affect my text colors.

That is borderline exploiting.

That is why I said borderline.

If someone uses a mod that affects my gameplay, that is a borderline exploit in my opinion.

So using it to fake system messages, change my zone text colors to a strobe light of text and fake items that aren't in the game is to me considered a borderline exploit.

I've seen people using it trying to scam other players by posting fake item links in chat.

The biggest problem I see with it are the gold spammers that have decided to become rainbow warriors. The X4d spam blocker is pretty decent, but it doesn't catch it all, unfortunately.

It is very VERY distracting.

One more or less addon for you to have can not do any harm.. I meen theres so much room for UI improvment in this game that its almost impossible to play somewhat comfortable at all without them.

I actually love the UI as it is and play addon free. The fact I have to install an addon to prevent people from messing with MY settings is absurd.

You know if you hover mouse over item name it's supposed to pop a window right??? If it's not its prob fake and you fell for it.
