New AOE Cool Downs - Your thoughts?

    If they are against AOE that much would a better solution not be to simply rework every single AOE skill into a Single Target Skill Instead? never got the whole thing with AOE attacks in MMOs, just make all attacks single target instead of adding cooldowns that prevent AOE usage.

    If it turns out that AOEs *are* the culprits, my guess is this is what will happen. Skills that would have had a lot of eligible targets will have fewer just to make the checks more simple to run. Jabs will probably be single target. Streak might be spared because it has ramping cost anyway. Heals will go to group members only, and so on.

    If ZOS actually intends to implement this outside of the tests they'll be ruining PvP for at least a year while they try to fix lag.

    As predicted many players have swapped to single target builds to take advantage of the double AP, and others are simply staying away.

    How this will give them any accurate data on the impact these changes will have on AOE and Lag I am not sure, given the player base aren't currently trying to use AOE's on the equivalent level to what they do normally.

    The only thing positive they could do is end the testing now. It is just a cheap cut to fix an expensive problem they don’t want to face.

    They do not listen to feedback from reps and experienced players during PTS as it is.

    And I fail to see why they needed to do this on live and mess with peoples time to play. Unless something that is not positive is going to happen.

    What would be more positive is if they actually listened to feedback during PTS. That way we wouldn’t get these messed up patches after things are starting to get better.

    Performance issues shouldn’t be a learning process for a top game, it should be a priority.

    Instead of changing builds and cooldowns they should just add more severs, like they do during the events, maybe even more so to limit over population.

    If it has to do with balancing, i am really curious and would love to know their thought process. Because this patch just killed my stamina templar. Can't heal as well now which was always an on going problem with this class compared to others. Also can't maintain a good dps not being able to use Biting Jabs as spammable.

    Also if it is about balance, i shouldn't see any single 810 player still be able to beat 10+ other 810 players due to their op builds that haven't been nerfed. That to me is the true balancing that needs to be done. I understand losing battles 1v1 or even 3v1 but once it starts getting to be 5v1 or more is ridiculous. 5+ equal level players should always be able to kill a single player and not get destroyed by them. :(

    I am really hoping they change this back or i don't see playing pvp anymore.

    It does have to do with a cheap bandaid fix for server lag. That is why it is insulting to players that enjoy eso PvP and what made it unique.

    I suggest people who are saying its unplayable look at their setups and/or internet connection because on Grey Host EU there has been no lag all evening and massive improvements with ping and FPS . Its been a massive improvement and all I have seen is people saying the same in zone.
    Whether this is the fix as its only test no1 we will have to see and we know class changes will come if it is , either way I havent seen anyone say anything but praise about the performance.

    They need to fix the ability queue. Pressing an ability while in cd, oh 3 second later when cd is off the ability is auto cast. Great.

    I mostly play magsorc, supposed to be a single target class, but the only skills I can use on my current setup are crushing/frags/harness/degeneration.

    Guess this will be sorc play from now on

    Went to buff up...

    Another fun bug? If you accidentally hit the ability while it's on cool down, it still drains the resource, then activates when cool down is off.

    Considering that the lag is still here, it's hard to judge when to fire an ability.

    I press jabs - it doesn't go off but I get charged resource, ability is now on cool down, so I can't even try an reapply it.

    This whole idea has so far only exasperated the skill delay associated with lag in my experience.

    Oh but as someone before me mentioned, it's definitely my Internet. Because one person is not experiencing lag, it means lag has been fixed.

    There was a time when the ESO developers were against Global Cool-downs as they slowed the pace of the game down and were not part of the ESO game philosophy.

    My how things have changed, guess it is to much to ask to have a coherent and consistent approach to game-play.

    GCDs are great for WoW or EQ, this game was supposed to be faster paced and more action / response oriented. GCDs are the very opposite of what this game was intended for and that goes all the way back to beta and what the developers have said previously over the years for this game.

    Oh well.

    I am getting hard pressed to think of better ways short of just shutting down the servers now to actually kill this game.

    I don't intend to play. I already had a "single target" build, but unfortunately many of the core skills I use are classed as aoe; hardened ward, streak, boundless storm and combat prayer. I don't even use combat prayer as a heal because it's kind of expensive to spam, so I just use it as a personal 8s damage buff. Ironically I think the only skill I do use as an aoe (daedric minefield) isn't included because it doesn't seek for a target. It seems to me that no thought went into this test because it requires you to jump though unrealistic hoops to participate.

    I don't like the cooldowns. On my mSorc the first time I went in with my standard skill loadout felt terrible. Boundless storm, streak, regen & ward all on cooldown when I need them. I think I can change my skills around to be in a good place but I don't understand why Hardened Ward is still considered an AOE when I am not using summoned pets.

    I think the Cyrodiil populations speak for themselves... usually with double AP they would be pop-locked instead of 1-2 bars.

    I think I spent 10 minutes in Cyrodiil doing test, I read ~6 zone messages of people quitting for now, 3 zone messages that the lag is still there during zerg fights and 2 messages supporting this lag

    It might be just me, but i rarely experience lag. every once in a while yes, when the servers in cyrodiil are packed like the start of a new campaign/event, or there is some sort of patch bug on eso's end.

    Makes me think just add another server and spread out the players would be an easy fix.

    Cyrodiil is super fun with a lower player count anyways.

    Performance was a massive improvement, night and day, i like the changes stops streak spam etc alot of skills that were 'abused' have been put a stop to, snipe could welcome the same treatment 😂😂

    actually they should have a test campaign on the live servers that they can fiddle with as they see fit. Draw players in with double ap and other bonuses.

    3 am eu server. travelled to bleakers. Kicked out. login again... tried a 1vs3 ... unplayable. quit. Worst than ever. Some other companies with bad analists and terrible profilers hitted the floor in the past.

    Now I have had a decent chance to try it out... it's worse than terrible ! :D

    Tight ball groups sill roam around with constant AOE. When they approach I am stunned into a loadscreen & then come out of the load screen dead... hit by 5 enemy player AOEs !

    Also the lag is awful! I have a decent ping (for my region) but still even non-AOE skills don't fire on time.

    This has done nothing but once again hurt the solo player & the tight ball groups do their thing with enough players to overcome the AOE 3 sec cooldowns. They still have overlapping helas from each other that make them very difficult to kill.

    Bleh. not worth the AP.
