I usually use High Elf Cups or Redoran Bowls or Cups. I know the HE cup looks more like a mug than a tea-cup, but you can sink it into the table a little so it looks kinda more cup-like. Asian teacups often don't have a handle irl either so the Morrowind style ones work as teacup substitutes.
But yeah, of course it would be nice to get proper tea cups
Yes, I did say that.TheRealPotoroo wrote: »Yes, but none of them are this:I usually use High Elf Cups or Redoran Bowls or Cups. "Am I the only one in game annoyed by the fact that we have 3 different types of kettle in the game...but not a single proper teacup?"
Sorry to be a spoilsport @Ursinos but "No"; I am not annoyed. In fact, quite the opposite. I think that a teacup, with handle, would be immersion breaking because it would look out-of-place and too modern.
As for kettles, they are placed on (or above) a fire, so some kind of device, to assist in removing the vessel from the flames, makes very good sense. We see many examples of the cauldron type, that can be hung over an open fire, scattered all over Tamriel. To me, it seems like a very logical step (for many a person) to see the connection of making a kettle that could be placed on an Elsweyr-type grill. That is no doubt why IRL the kettle predates the modern teacup by several thousand years.
In no way am I putting this forward as a wish-list item but a Dwemer, clockwork timepiece for the wrist sounds more plausible to me than a modern-day teacup.
Now if you wish to be the in-game inventor of a teacup, then by all means go ahead. Perhaps your 'Inventor' could have several examples to exhibit, that show how the concept developed. I would certainly like to see the outcome - should you go down that path.

Teacups have been around since the 17th Century, though and a teacup with a handle was invented (in Germany) in the early 18th Century, apparently.
How long ago do you think the game is supposed to be set, exactly, just out of interest?
To me, it doesn't seem that old, at all.
Assuming it is supposed to be at least somewhat analogous of our own timeline, obviously.
Also, if you are going to take issue with teacups, you should probably also take issue with things like the frames on the Summerset paintings, and the Summerset grandfather clock, which definitely look later than that.

I agree. The modern teacup (with saucer) appears in C18 but teacups with a handle, without a saucer, date back to the Neolithic times.
In truth, I do not really have a preconceived view of the era Tamriel is set in compared to our times because ESO is a fantasy game where many things are possible. Time and its passing is relative; phenomena happen that may seem fantastical to some.
Nevertheless, If you press me on a comparative period, then I would put it far earlier than the start of the Modern Era, ie 1700+. I would compare it to the early Dark Ages - some aspects even slightly earlier. If we look forward to TES Skyrim, then even that has barely caught up with the early Middle Ages.
Also, if you are going to take issue with teacups, you should probably also take issue with things like the frames on the Summerset paintings, and the Summerset grandfather clock, which definitely look later than that.
The topic for this Discussion is "Teacups" [& lack of them in-game] @Tigerseye , so albeit I could comment, I choose not to derail the thread.
So, there are eye witness accounts saying there are no teacups, in Tamriel?
Or, do you mean you haven't seen any in other TES games?
In which case, couldn't they exist, even if you haven't seen them?
Maybe they are kept for best in people's cupboards, most of the time?
Yes, I did say that.TheRealPotoroo wrote: »Yes, but none of them are this:I usually use High Elf Cups or Redoran Bowls or Cups. All the cups that LOOK the part, are just oversized.
@Ursinos , here is what I meant RE sinking chalices down.
Can't help with the handle, but you can make a matching saucer easily by just getting a second chalice and flipping it over so just the bottom of the base is showing.
