    Did not work for me.

Thing that annoys me the most, it was working after the patch, logged off to go fix dinner and clean up, came back and broken >.<

Can we please get an official developer response on what the log on screen version number should read. After today's patch this is what my log on screen looks like on 4 out of my 4 computers.

I am being flooded with 209 errors, and log in errors when I can get the launcher to play the game. All the developer proposed fixes have been non fixes. I have been working on trying to get my game going for three hours now, during which time there have been no developer posts on the subject. I have filed a request for telephone support which told me there was an hour delay on getting a call back, I have no call back two hours later. Can I please get some support?

Unfortunately this does not work. I was able to get in the game the first time, only after running the launcher.exe from the directory (shortcut did not work for some odd reason). Once I logged out and tried to get back in, constant 209 errors. Nothing works.

Starting to get pretty frustrated with this game, moreso because I enjoy it quite a bit. First I had two progression-blocking bugs that lasted 48 hours that stopped me from leveling, now this. I just want to play the game, they don't want me to?

Please follow the steps that we have provided below to help solve the issue:

I would love to download a patch that does not require me to repair delete files re download the entire game just once would be a good start you farking nub devs.

It is not difficult concept that your patches actually work with your launcher, that should be priority one. But I do realize this is your first rodeo and you are nubs and simple concepts are very difficult for you all.

I found deleting all the version files caused the program to attempt to entirely download 22gb again (and repair wasn't an option like it normally is). However, deleting *only* the game_player.version file still gave me the error but prompted to continue downloading a 70mb patch. Maybe I just got lucky, but I thought I'd share.

    ZOS_JessicaFolsom wrote: »
We posted this in another thread, but want to make sure you see it, too.

If you are getting error 209, please try the following:

-First, please ensure you are accessing the game via the launcher, not the .exe file.

-Try closing out of the launcher and re-open it, then run a repair.

-If you try to repair and it does not work, please delete all .version files in the game's sub folders and try repair again.

    FIXED

--Delete the .version files. [there is 4x .version files one in each folder] (These 4 Need to be put back in their locations in the next steps)

    --Run Launcher.

    --Close Launcher.

    --Open your recycle bin.

--Restore (Puts them back for you) the .version files.

Deleted version files, ran launcher which failed, then restored the version files. I'm in."

I have attached my versions for those who have lost theirs. ( you will need Winrar to open)

If you try to repair and it does not work, please delete all .version files in the game's sub folders and try repair again. Also make sure your recycle bin is empty before proceeding or rename the following version files listed based on your preference.

    1) Make sure you're not running the client already when you delete the files. This will screw the process up.

    2) Go to your Zenimax Online folder (default, I believe, is in Program Files (x86).

Inside the Zenimax Online folder, delete the following files:

    Inside "Launcher" folder, delete "Bethesda.net_Launcher.version",
then back out of the "Launcher" folder into the Zenimax Online folder.

Inside "The Elder Scrolls Online" go to the "depot" folder, delete "depot.version" and go back to "TESO" folder.

Go to the "game" folder and delete "game_player.version", then back out to "TESO" folder.

Go to "vo_en" folder and delete "vo_en.version".

The above lists all four version files that need to be deleted or renamed, under the assumption that they are named the same as the ones in my folders. Basically, look for four ".version" files if you can't find those above.

    3) Launch your client.

    4) WAIT. Wait for the client start patching like it's downloading the full game again and ABORT

    5) Go to your recycle bin, select all four files, right-click "restore".

    6) Restart your client.

This does work. I didn't delete the files, I just renamed them with .old, opened the launcher, waited for the "update", then got to a launcher with an "install" button. Close it, renamed the 3 files back to .old, deleted the NEW launcher.version file, renamed the .old one back, and it worked.
  • deheartb14_ESO
OK, Im on a mac but I followed the basic instructions that jmoore59 received without doing any type of clean booting. Basicly I deleted the Program Data from the Launcher folder and the entire Elderscrolls folder from my documents folder. *Be sure to save the addons folder If you do this*

Then I started the launcher and it started patching right away. I then succesfully logged in and am currently looking at my char choice screen.

    :D Yaaayyyy!!!

It seems like the problem is in one of those two places and not with the actual game itself, probably the Program Data folder since it seems to be a launcher problem.

The emailed response from @jmoore59 seems to be working so far. Running the repair tool now, and it's verifying all files without an issue at all.

Zenimax, whatever was in the program data for the launcher, you might want to send to the troubleshooting team to find out what went wrong and take it as a lesson learned with programming launchers and updating tools. *sage nod*

Verify is done, looks like webget for the patch erred again. Sigh, Zenimax. Why can't you test these things before they are shipped to the users?

You do not have to "Delete" any files at all! the game run fine after the patcher done! :D

I to got the "error 209" that only due to patcher software! not game it self! :'(
They need to fix patcher software! okai this what i did to get the game to run for me! :p

    it realy easy! (*)

okai what you do is go to "run command" on window 7/8
    typ ""k:\The Elder Scrolls Online\game\client\eso.exe"

just make sure which drive put it on as you kan see i have many drives! the game should start playing like should normaly it does... ;)
the only thing i found out is that patcher is what need to be fixed not the main game... (ps: sorry mai english not strong) :s

What is the new version number?
@TheHuntress - I'm starting to think it isn't clear. I thought the new version would be 1.0.3 since the patch notes say v1.0.3. However, this may not be the game version. In a different post someone said that "eso.live.1.0.0.964485" is the old version and "eso.live.1.0.0.968197" is the patched version. It would be nice to hear this confirmed by a developer, though.

Ok I shut the game down and the patcher had now switched from play button to install button. But now that the game is patched I can now start the game the the ESO file in the actual game client folder.

You do need to delete those files in order to patch or you will get the login timeout errors, but once you patch you can just start the game directly from the client.

This is really unbelievable. I've now been working on this for two hours. Constant error 209's for some unknown reason. Then I get an error 210 unable to download manifest file???

I've tried everything in this thread. I am now to the point where it wants me to download 22gb again, even though all .dat files are still freaking there. I give up lol.

I think I'll check back with this game when they have figured out basic MMO features like being able to patch your game.
