Be nice, but ZOS could go with both PunkBuster and VAC other games are doing that.
If people have to gut their PC to get back into a game they got banned from ... GOOD .

At least it's some form of punishment . Also it makes them look like Dorks ...

HWID banning does not work, it is all to easy to spoof hardware ID's

Cool . What would you recommend as a counter measure here to those saying they can just gut their hardware and reinstall Windows ? Other MMO titles have a pretty good grip on keeping cheaters off property , so I figure you can shed some light here for all of Us that didn't get degree in this field .

As i said hardware banning does not work as you can just spoof the hardware ID's and it is the same with the mac address easy to spoof. plus you still have to detect who are using the cheats.

I am not going to go into what is the best anti cheat system for ZOS and ESO as i work for EvenBalance the makers of PunkBuster, so i am always going to say PunkBuster is the best, but we did do the 1st hardware banning and why i know it just pointless going down that road.

We do PC, Mac and 64bit in fact PunkBuster has been the worlds 1st in most things with anti cheat, 1st 16bit, 32bit and 64bit and a lot more.

ZOS are more then welcome to get hold me, even it is just to point them in the right way, at the end of the day i play ESO and have done from day one. I am a player which happens to work for EvenBalance as a Anti Cheat Specialist.

Lmao. It's been long af since I posted that message, and I still have yet to receive a message from you or any of your guildies attempting to arrange a battle. Or your ex-guildies I should say. :D So what's wrong? Need a zerg (as most EP do) to step to me on a combat level? :p

Let's cut the tough guy act on both of behaves, and leave this thread clean. Let this thread remain on course, and stay focused to the topic at hand. This is too amazing of a thread to be closed by our petty bickering. Contact me to arrange a battle, and come get your Avada Kedavra. Or are you more a Repello Inimicum type of fella? It'll be swift as lightning, and then I can move back to farming VMA.

It works more than you think. Not everyone knows how to spoof MACs.

However, if you paid with a credit card, well you can't really spoof that. You'd have to, at a minimum, buy with a different card with different info. Or try and use a gift card or some other anonymous form of payment. Companies will actually blacklist you from playing based on your personal info. In fact, someone had just posted recently on the forum about being permabanned, buying the game again, then rebanned when it was discovered he was the same person.

I'm well aware how such things work. Based on the typical gaming demographic, it's likely I was dealing with hardware and software before you were born.

And while it may seem trivial to you and me, it isn't trivial to everyone. It's like cheating/botting/hacking. Trivial if you know how, and honestly pretty trivial for anyone with a basic level of technical knowledge. It doesn't mean everyone knows how to do it (or realizes just how easy it can be).

Regardless, all client side prevention techniques fail. The client side is always an untrusted, assumed-to-be-compromised machine that you have no control over. Therefore, banning based on client side information will fail. Client side cheat prevention will fail. The best you can hope for is that it will dissuade most people from trying to cheat, but the dedicated crackers will defeat any client side system sooner or later, including keygens.

So playing EU tonight and the meteor showers are still falling, the un-damageable toons are still running, people porting to castle walls... some of my guildies took some vids which they are sending to ZOS but it seems clear that they have not and will not take action - I am getting so tired of paying for being lied to... getting so I can't be bothered to PvP because I have no trust that the game is fair any more...

P.S. Should we all just install cheat engine so we are at least on a level playing field because right now this is nonsense?

Wow... This thread seems to have taken a hard turn. Let's get it back on track and keep holding ZOS' feet to the fire on this one.

NO ONE is saying explain to us exactly how you will prevent cheating. No one is asking them to provide us with interface details, server checks, or anything of the like. All people are doing is asking for an official acknowledgment from Zenimax that this is a problem and it will be dealt with severely.

If you think about it, Zenimax hasn't even acknowledged the problem on a larger platform than hidden within these threads. Nothing on the banner of the forums. Nothing in the game launcher or anywhere. There is still a large population of folks who have no idea that the reason they keep getting bumped from leaderboards is someone is subtlety manipulating values to boost them. Unless you've read these threads, you'd have absolutely no idea that ZOS even knew about this.

How is this acceptable? None of the gaming "news" sources have picked up on this, or the fact that several people are reporting the game is nearly unplayable due to bugs after the latest patch. This needs to change. ZOS needs to take ownership of this issue and acknowledge it on a wider basis, and let it be known that cheating will be harshly dealt with.

In recent days it has come to light that groups can report players and get them banned with no proof and no review on ZOS' part. Love him or hate him, Zergbad was banned due to reports from salty people he ganked, his account was reinstated, and he was given a few XP pots as recompense. Lol wut?!?

Additionally, ZOS and their poor QA/QC practices have introduced a game breaking bug into the game with DB with the use of gap closers. People can literally climb walls into keeps or across the air Crouching Tiger style now. Videos were posted on the PTS and on the forums, asking ZOS to fix the bugs. The reporters and posters were threatened by ZOS, moderated by ZOS, and told they were "exploiting" by using gap closers. ZOS broke gap closers, and when folks pointed it out, they were threatened with bans.

So come on people. Keep pushing ZOS to step up to the plate and take some ownership over the *** state of the game. People were threatened with bans for using gap closers for gods sake!!!!! This stuff will not get fixed until we make them fix it.

Hell, once DB drops on console, I can't even log on until some of these bugs get fixed or my items can disappear! These patches are submitted ahead of time, and apparently can't be recalled. I flat out asked ZOS if the item bug they had to hotfix would be on console, and they ignored the question.

Don't let them sweep stuff under the rug folks. This game has so much potential to be the next WoW in terms of longevity and popularity, but not if you let the Devs sit on their thumbs all day long without holding them accountable.

@ZOS_JessicaFolsom has been doing such a spectacular job since Gina had to leave for maternity leave. She's fostered a culture of responsiveness that was missing for months. I truly believe she's the one person who can save this game and help maximize its potential. Don't spout hate towards her, don't get mad at her, keep supporting her and in doing so she has demonstrated she will support us. And @ZOS_JessicaFolsom, I hope you show this post to your bosses, and keep up the good work.

There's a lot of truth in your words. And I do mean a lot of truth. @ZOS_JessicaFolsom has been doing a splendid job, and has been holding it down quite nicely. Even though I may not be exactly pleased with her follow-up statement to the cheating situation, I gotta cut her some slack. She is doing the best she can do, and it shows. Salute to her, and big ups as well.

But overall, ZOS has to do better. Their support team is laughable, and the forum staff is super irritating with their sweep everything on the rug mentality. How in the world is it possible to get into trouble for speaking ill of people tearing the community and game apart by cheating/exploiting, and supposedly shaming them? I have no idea, but ZOS somehow managed this to happen. And what trips me out about it is, being as they are a relatively new company to the whole MMO thing — you'd think they'd have learned from big names like Blizzard and how they treat such things. And yes, I'm fully aware Zenimax isn't Blizzard, but c'mon now. It's pathetic.

@Ch4mpTW I of course agree with you. They don't technically have to do anything. And if we don't lobby hard to make them, I think they've pretty sufficiently proven they won't do anything. How you can release a patch that has this many issues and bugs, which were reported on the PTS, is beyond me. It's just further evidence to me that they regard the PTS as little more than advertising and publicity for the new patch.

    @ZOS_JessicaFolsom :

    Just to get this right:
you've posted a statement somewhere in another thread where almost no one would have been looking for an announced statement?
Furthermore, the statement doesn't really contain anything the community was looking for and it mostly repeats what you said before?
