The move from client side to server side code to remove client side cheating was the initial cause of lag. Moving more code to remove more cheats may be an answer to cheating but will probably also introduce even more lag. Be careful of what you wish for.

I am all for banning anyone who hacked the game for life but equally it needs to be done properly with evidence not some sort of crazy lynch mob approach... if I started reporting everyone who killed me in PvP or got higher dps in PvE... not many left I suspect!

This is why I am hoping that the promised announcement from ZOS will be clear on what they are counting as cheats (should be pretty much anyone messing with the code or server/client comms), enough about the detection and review process that we can be sure it isn't too blunt (but not enough to enable people to work around it), whether their detection could be subject top false positives (and if so how to appeal them) and finally how this happened (is it a long term thing or a result of recent 'fixes' for lag) and whether they are working on a proper long term fix for this.

Hopefully if they can do that then it will start to calm everyone down and we can have some confidence that the cheats will be gone and no-one innocent will get swept up in the hysteria...

Basically the community will do exactly what it did before.

Blame one another for everything, complain anyone who beats them macros/cheats/exploits, and make dumb accusations and posts on the forums.

Firstly, we know they store our damage, this shows up as achievemnents when we do so much, or receive so much.
Look through what achievements you can have, this will give you an idea of what they are storing!

Since we cannot see other player's gears/stat and we all know the fact that it is easy to hack the game. Any one doing better than 'me' might be hacking.

One verification might take 10-30min to verify the log if it is a complete log. How many verifications can ZoS afford to make per day?

With regards to verifying logs, you can run a simple SQL report to get the data, to confirm the time between certain activities to see if the are within Normal tolerances, if they are outside of them, then you look deeper at the data.

Witch hunt indeed. I came back from week or relative inactivity due to being away with work to find out i was kicked from a PVE guild.

I assumed it was for inactivity and when i approached them i was told it was because they had determined i was using cheat engine.

I asked what made them think that and apparently they were using something that could detect cheating.... i said well if i was cheating then its a better process than zos is using cause im still ingame so maybe they should help them out and send it to zos.

They said it must have been a misunderstanding and i was welcome back into guild. A quick backflip on the guild kick policy on what? Me simply saying i dont cheat? Needless to say i declined.

People are going absolutley crazy over this *** right now.

I really hope ZOS can scoure logs and kick every prick that has been doing this. On that day ill send that guild a message to let them know im still around...

i havent been to cyrodiil in over a year, havent even registered to a campaign since the last time they unbound people. im enjoying the rage and paranoia though, wish i had popcorn but a pop-tart will do

Ah well just so you can feel more included - this particular set of cheats could easily be impacting on PvE too and not just Cyrodiil... so you can join in the rage and paranoia too!

Great!!!! Ban all the cheaters.

This is exactly like photo radar. If you don't speed you could not care less that there is radar out there. Only the people that speed are complaining about it being a revenue generator.

Cheat in life.. cheat in game. People, people.. why, why, why? Maybe there should be an in-game court justice system in place. The cheater/exploiter are arrested by the guards and put on trial in-game. The gamemasters could be the guards ad judge. Convicted.. they are sentenced, either ban for some time or permanently. Lol!

I'm just going to play the game as I always have, I don't play it to shout "hey look at me and my wonderfulness" I don't play it for the satisfaction of others, I'm not in a race there is no prize for winning the game, in fact, is there a "WIN"? If so what's the prize?

If I get an achievement it's for me, I may do a little Khajit dance to celebrate. I play for my entertainment not my ego, I don't have webcasts or videos showing my awesome builds and game tips, I play for me.

If someone doesn't like me or the Zos PTBs chose to ban me for some obscure reason I'll say "Fine I'll play EVE or some other game from the list"

Cheating should never be tolerated but then neither should some of the ill-informed posts made over the past few days, the stompy forum toddlers and Facebook educated dweebs who have all the answers but don't really understand the questions, the stand on my virtual soapbox drama queens crying to the masses how the end of the world is nigh and how their life is now ruined.
