I assume bans will follow and items and gold will be retaken so the cheating players are not rewarded. The normal players are now the one being punished by not being able to play the game

Hmm, instead of banning the corrupt players, those that did not exploit should be rewarded.
Maybe a unique mount or so...

This would keep the honest honest, as there might be something to gain. :P

    Dear Zenimax,
it is Friday night, I have been working a long hard week and now I have weekend and wants to PLAY!

I have NO understanding for doing this primetime friday night, NO UNDERSTANDING!

Just because some people gathered some tempers, well when you had fixed it monday morning that should have been early enough I suppose!
But now you are stealing MY TIME!
I am ESO-Plusgamer, but that will not last very long any more!
I know you don´t care, but I doesn´t as well anymore!
You don´t do anything for those who pay, convenience is a rare word in ESO!

THE TRUTH IS: YOU HATE US!

Wait until monday? In a matter of hours players had accumulated 10s of thousands of resources and you want to leave it rolling all weekend? This is for the better for everyone. It's like a 'this is for your own good' moment whether you realize it or not.

We have data showing who has been exploiting, and will be taking the appropriate actions.

Put their toons in cages and display them inside the 3 major cities ( wayrest, mournhold, eldenroot ) and let us throw tomatos at them.

As mentioned in this thread, this is an unscheduled maintenance to address a current exploit. Our current plan is to wrap up PC maintenance within a couple hours, but we'll keep that thread up to date as each server is completed.

Couple HOURS? Good night I guess... Its 8pm in EU.

    Good night!

These people... Can't eat enough to be able to vomit as much as I want to. (and I'm talking about you, dear fellow players who complain about the downtime).

Thank you ZOS (@ZOS_GinaBruno in place of all other employees on the forum) for your very first time really quick and appropriate reaction upon discovery of an exploit. I only read today about its existence and you took down the servers to deploy a hotfix on the same day.

This is how it is supposed to be. Continue this. Even more promising is the first ever open admittance of disciplinary action targeted at exploiters. This is what I and many players like me have been waiting for for nigh on two years.

This time, the silent majority is firmly in your corner.

Yeah an economy in ruin is to gain if they don't punish abusers. They really have no choice but to wipe banks of all exploiters at the very least as a punishment to undo some of the damage.

lol. just ignore the fact that all other exploits have completely been ignored (game breaking bugs aside). the time for the downtime es even the worse joke. it simply states that they don't care at all about the EU player base. just ***ing on their customers.

No because then if they trade these exploited materials to genuine players it becomes a nightmare to handle.

But i still think it's unacceptable for an emergency small bugfix to take a few hours to patch, like seriously?

But it does when people have literally gone into area chat in main cities telling everyone about an exploit. If it was a normal 2 days like it was last week then your point would be valid, but it is another 2 days of an exploit that is only becoming more widespread by the hour.

Not yet because they are gathering mats, as soon as they have enough gold all gold mats in stores get bought by them and they then sell them 100/200% more expensive. They buy all mats that come up and employ same tactic.....most people buy gold mats and cant be bothered to farm for them.

There were already other exploits posted on the forum and they simply didn't care (and failed to successfully fix them with the major patches (which come every one, two or three month)). That's not an excuse for such a bad time window to fix it. I mean if there are people farming equipment the easy way to get an advantage, who cares? ;) this whole thing is just ***** up.

Although I agree its good that ZOS takes immediate action to prevent further exploits, its frustrating to watch such an issue being fixed instantly (even during weekend prime time) while other issues stay in the game for months or even years.

Issues that annoy hundreds of players each and every day get brushed away like its nothing but this gets fixed instantly.

There only seems to be a hurry to fix something if its in ZOS' best interest, if its in the players best interest you can usually expect to hear that it might get fixed in the next major update, which too often isnt the case.

Economies in MMO's are so fragile. If anything happens it effects 100% of the player base. This exploit was potentially economy breaking, so whether you like it or not, it was in the players best interest to fix asap.

Mate, I'm with you completely. There is so much to be done and so little progress on so many things, that I have long since given up.

But that does not change the fact that even staunch complainers like me should encourage good behaviour. This is good behaviour. This needs to be encouraged, not complained about.
