My free month hasn't run out yet so here goes :

1 Have you reach out our Support Team yet to request help for this issue? And if so, what is your support ticket number?
    - No, waste of time. The servers are an ocean away, overloaded and not even on the US East Coast (where europeans can hope to get a latency in the 100-150 range) but in frigging Dallas, it couldn't be worse for European players and you know it (unless you don't know the basics about network latency?). Stop fooling your customers and move your servers if you don't want to lose even more customers (or maybe you don't care because you made enough money from pre-orders...). Have you noticed how dead Cyrodill has become EU side? Used to be like 75% of the campaigns with high pop/full, now it's at best 3 of them during peak time, rest is on low pop, lol.

2 What region are you playing the game in? (Your country and specific area)
    -France, north-west

    3 Who is your ISP?
-Orange & OVH (+a VPN provider that I have at my disposal but it doesn't help with servers that are too far away), 95-100ms on Age of Conan servers (located in NJ) where I don't get any lagspikes and a very stable and responsive experience (relative to ESO). Wildstar Dallas servers also run much better than your servers BTW, with 150ms the combat feels okayish and relatively responsive (never experiencing skills not activating or random delays when trying to do something like in ESO) and on top of that Wildstar will have EU servers at launch...

4 Are there any specific moments you recall experiencing extreme latency? While questing? While running dungeons? While in Cyrodiil?
-Everywhere, all the time, I'm a twitch fps player so, sensitive. Game is never truly smooth and responsive latency wise. Bearable in pve sure, in pvp it's unplayable and dungeons sometimes start lagging like crazy for the entire group as well (probably just server-side issue though)

Have you reach out our Support Team yet to request help for this issue?
    - Not yet, furthermore I don't think they can resolve my issue unless they can create a subspace channel from The Netherlands to NA

What region are you playing the game in? (Your country and specific area)
    - The Netherlands, South-Limburg

    Who is your ISP?
    - Ziggo: 180Mbps downstream/18Mbps upstream, between 15ms and 20ms on a Dutch/German Battlefield server

Are there any specific moments you recall experiencing extreme latency? While questing? While running dungeons? While in Cyrodiil?
    - Most of the times randomly, the lag spikes are very inconsistent(From being responsive to 5 seconds delay and being responsive again), other times when playing in a group / crowded area it does happen more often.

    System specs
    - It can run Crysis 3 on high/very high pretty fluent, so it should be more than enough to run ESO

    1. Not yet - figured most/everyone was having those problems.
    2. Vienna, Austria
    3. UPC 120Mbit
    4. really varied, and some days much worse than others. occurences include:
      - whole game freezes up, from anything between 3-4 secs to up to 15-20secs. - skill delay during combat, animations missing & not firing - can't see any noticeable difference between normal pve combat or dungeons, also happens when just running around, questing, etc... - loading screen issues are much much better

This is quite possibly the stupidest post to arrive on the forums. It is quite simple. Everyone lags due to the "EU" server being in the US. In due time, you will not have a player base for your EU server if the latency persists.

To answer the real question: No, it is absolutely not a viable option to connect from the EU to servers located in the US, if you really wish to offer your European player base a lag free and undisturbed gaming experience.

So please, just move the server and stop asking unrewarding questions.

But one could hope things would change on actual release. I at least did but it seems I was a fool.

I still poured almost 200h into ESO (took my time levelling and kinda enjoyed it) but it's just not the pvp game I was hoping for and will clearly never be. Not with this devteam, at least.

Please keep in mind that NA player do experience the same (skills key) delays we are experiencing while they have a ping of around 30ms to the NA server, so to me it sounds like it's a server-side delay (clogged packets, I/O overload, what so ever).

Even if I monitor my network traffic through Windows Resource monitor I see a latency between 120ms and 160ms, which doesn't translate to the mere seconds of delays we do experience from time to time, because 120ms = 0,12 seconds).

And when these spikes occur my latency is as high/low as before I experienced the skill delay.

Though I think they need to get their act together, because these delays are pretty ridiculous! I don't care if it's server-side or due to latency (although I'm a IT-specialist/software engineer, I'm a paying customer which wants to enjoy something I pay for, not paying to be their technician/tester..).

Been getting multiple forms of lag.

What region are you playing the game in?

On the EU servers, from South Africa, Johannesburg.

My latency to services in NA hovers around 400±5ms (0% loss), services in EU get about 180±0ms (0% loss).

    Who is your ISP?

OpenWeb/Internet Solutions. Unshaped account - no prioritization. South Africa generally gets routed to international services through Level3.

Are there any specific moments you recall experiencing extreme latency?

A lot in public dungeons and delves. A few seconds once in a while.

Infrequently (but severe) in group dungeons. A few minutes of nothing happening, nobody in the dungeon moves and none of my abilities work. This is followed by a "live action replay" over a few seconds (and a wipe :persevere:). When it happens it usually affects two players at once (we are a guild in TS), I am the only player in South Africa so it's happening across regions.

Cyrodiil. Multiple forms of lag. Skill lag exists in every RvR MMO, so while I would like to see it improved I do accept it as reality. However, at times, my character movement will freeze as though I am rooted; I can attack, block and even use abilities that forcefully move my character (e.g. Invasion). Dodge rolling (attempting to break soft CC) does nothing - not even the animation. Attempting to break a hard CC/stun (RMB+LMB) does nothing except play the "bash" animation. Therefore this is not a debuff/stun. I can get stuck in this state from a few seconds to even minutes. It seems to occur during or after a large battle.

Extremely infrequently in the PvE overworld. It seems to be tied to phases - if I leave the map it goes away, if I quickly come back to that map the issue resurfaces. Guildies in TS confirm it. Mostly 1-2s of skill lag when it does occur, but rarely continues for durations longer than 10 minutes.

When forming 12+ large groups that contain guild members. Severe framerate drops/framerate lag confirmed by all (60+) in TS. The entire group crashes at about 16 players (again, confirmed by all in TS).

Additional: Once the skill lag is resolved (the more severe minute-long spikes), after a few seconds I usually get "You have been kicked from the server due to excessive messaging." (Despite the fact that I am in TS and therefore am not using chat)

    2) Massive random total freeze of whole game, in random locations, (lag spike) then back to ok

    3) Latency spikes when fighting (PvE) i.e. hit key but delay before anything happens or nothing happens at all.

80% of the time im ok, when it does lag its lagging for everyone around me so its not something specific to me or where I am (moved zones and nothing changes), its a problem on the server. of course the posts on the forums seem to get ignored and tickets raised when there is an actual problem don't get looked at until the next day.

I dont feel the servers location is the issue for me since as I say 80% of the time im playing fairly ok (minor ability lag but that's all) There's something wrong in general on the server itself.

For the record when there is severe lag I try other games (also based in the states) and have zero problems. Its definitely your server.

Feel free to contact me ingame if you want me to try anything, always happy to help you solve the problem.

In which case wouldn't it make more sense to have made this thread directed at the users who are on the US server? As to me it would make sense to try and fix this in a way where latency/lag will be less easily mistaken for the issue at hand.

(Not that the server loctaion is not an issue, the EU server frankly should have been in the EU at release, but thats the responce they will, and are more or less getting from people posting in this thread)

    - When are you going to move EU Megaserver to EU?

Unfortunately we don't have that information yet. This should be happening soon, but currently I can't give you a timeframe. You can keep an eye out on our official page and social channels for updates on this!

    Seems like an important point.

Can it be that when syncronising/controll-data over such huge distances for so many players does it create chokepoints for the server that gets additional cross-atlantic (and pacific) ping of 80-160ish ms?
    Brayton wrote: »

I realize there is little chance of a server in the Asia-Pacific region, but the lag issues even from Japan to the US are serious. EU customers must be experiencing even more. I moved to the EU server from the NA server just for the community and the lag issues increased for some reason.
I get lag in dungeons mostly. When there are others around, my keys won't respond, or if they do they are delayed. As a tank, blocking is sometimes impossible and even though I move out of the way of the red area of attack, I still get affected.
I didn't expect a perfect connection because I'm nowhere near the server, but I have played other games with overseas servers and not had this much lag.

Hope you can do something to fix this as I am enjoying the game A LOT!

    Extreme latency?
Cyrodiil. Siege weapons and doors become extremely laggy in large battles.
There are also *rare* situations in PvE where it almost seems that I've disconnected from the server. (there's the completely unrelated issue where the system locks up for a few seconds when moving too fast through an area & opening the map).

Separately there is the equally annoying 'minor lag'. I move out of a red marker before the mob attacks but still get hit, I block the power attack... and get knocked over. This can/does happen anywhere and fairly regularly.

Issues happened in Vet areas too, second worst problem, can't progress there now, have no group and doing all that stuff solo is quite hard as a healer...the lags took every chance...got like 1.5 sec lags on the worst day...coul live with lags up to 0.5, but afterwards vet gets really deadly

No lags, strange enough, but our campaign got rolled over by a vamp with ulti spam, the people are leaving...

    ^this

Ticket - Received default answer, didn't take it up any further.

Country - South Africa, will naturally have more lag than Europeans, but with the amount at the moment, game is unplayable most of the time. WTFast helps a little

    ISP - Telkom and/or Openweb

Occurrence - Most of the time, HUGE amount in prime time

Nothing can be interacted with during the bad stages of latency. People warp every few seconds or minutes as game is trying to "catch up". Sometimes all players and objects just disappear altogether

Please move the EU server now. It's time.
