Latency on the European Megaserver - Looking for Additional Info

It is a well known fact that the peering to usa from germany's biggest provider t-kom sometimes gets packet loss and drops. Endless forum posts and threads. I can't understand why you ask where the lag comes from if it is known that level3.net squeezes to many bits over the line and the ping and packet loss gets horrible when some traffic is going over to youtube or other sites too. Another fact is that if the evening starts in usa you notice even more lag over the line. That are all well known facts and that's why an european server has to be in europe!

Im really really really trying hard to believe you.
    But i just cant, sorry.
Just look at the /zone chat and the amount of people cursing lag.

Im lagging hard and im using a VPN connecting me to Texas; without it i get kicked every 10 minutes.

In fact, American players are lagging too, we just have it worse because on top of the server lag, there is a higher ping.

Have you reach out our Support Team yet to request help for this issue? And if so, what is your support ticket number?

No I have not since I figured this is a problem most EU people seem to have due to the EU servers aren't in EU.

What region are you playing the game in? (Your country and specific area)
    Who is your ISP?

    Northern Sweden
    ISP = Bahnhof 100mbit down/10 mbit up

Are there any specific moments you recall experiencing extreme latency? While questing? While running dungeons? While in Cyrodiil?

Cyrodiil PVP is impossible for me due to the high latency during big battles. And not even that big to be honest.

The game lags just about all the time for me but the worst part is activating abilities during combat. Everytime I do, it lags and I have sometimes a half second delay from my keyboard push to the game understanding what I want. Thus I'm forced to press the same key over and over for effect.
This is not how a game is supposed to play.

No other MMO that I currently play has the same amount of or even near the same amount of lag that ESO has. And it is quite unfortunate since I do like the game very much. Just no point in playing it if normal functions like ability keys lag.

"This message confirms that you have successfully cancelled your subscription to The Elder Scrolls Online" +1. I have just unssubed.

PvP is unplayable with this lag, I won't pay for a service you are not giving to me. I have played the game from the begining, VR12 etc... and I have to say that love the game and its pvp but we really need server located in europe, I say more, YOU really need the server located in europe, you know what I mean.

I'll come back when we have a "real" european server.

Are you able to say anything else then these words? Seams to be your only response to everyone who has the guts to say what their playing experience is like.

I did even post for you....but no response. I wonder....when you saw I had one hell of a system, your technical skills fell flat?

There are so many factors for lag other then your beloved "ping".

And there are quite a few EU players who play just fine without any big issues with lag. Previous fixes have even improved performance, even from us EU players which you claim is impossible to play from.

You can call me whatever you way. I post what I experience and if you believe me or not, I couldnt care less.

Post your system specs all you want, without proof of your connection to the Texas servers, it means nothing. You wanna know why I post that all the time? Because I have yet to see a single person do it, because they know if they do it, they will get caught out lying.

It comes and goes, sometimes i can play 20 min, sometimes way less.
Keys do not repond, spells 0.5-3 sec delay, char moves okay, but actions hangs.
Same time, i get kicked to char screen, every 10 - 15 min of play time.

The problems started 2 patches ago, untill that i never had problems, not even in beta.

Last night (Wed 4 June 2014 about 9 p.m. UK) experienced very noticeable lag spikes in town and also in open areas. Group members also noticed same. By 10 p.m. I logged out.

For past 10 days have also been noticing an increase in logging in times - sometimes over 2 minutes after clicking on character to play, also in game when zoning into instances or between areas so game flow is spoiled.

However I read in their latest update that they hope to move the EU server to Europe in the summer?

Looking into this issue is not helping. Setup the EU servers in EU. Then it is not an issue any longer.
Add PvP loot drops for some risk/reward in this game.

While questing? yes, in Shadowfen, lag causes combat to be a big issue as mobs keep applying damage while your character does none in return resulting in death.
While running dungeons? Not tried since the issue recently started

Thinking about cancelling my subscription too. I've had enough of the cyrodill latency! Trying to engage someone just to find yourself doing the ability and the enemy player just keep on riding away like I've never been there at all. Just to think that people are paying for this... Awesome game experience that gets ruined by useless servers.

    Region is South-East England
    ISP: BT Infinity 68mbps

    Specific moments:
There aren't any, random loading screens and draw issues, so I can get attacked by invisible mobs, run into invisible objects and then get hit by a loading screen. So by the time it does finish loading I'm dead.

The other thing that's irking me is that the loading screens happen where there weren't any before. So I can be walking down one of Riftens streets fine one minute then I walk back in the other direction on the same street and get a 60+ load screen.

This didn't happen in beta nor in the month after but has been getting progressively worse. (I did have the issue logging in on the second to last beta until I changed ISP's so at least I don't have to use the VPN any more)

And for gods sake do something about the ability lag, I am getting really tired of casting seeing the magika/stamina bar go down and nothing happens then just as you recast the spell goes off.

So I don't really feel like reading through the 17 or so pages to see if anyones mentioned north american server lag, but i'm getting it bad and have been getting my ass kicked by it for 2 days. It's at the point now where I log in, go to gather somethign (this just started this afternoon, it's gotten really bad) and 2 plants later i have to log out and in, or manually restart the game. Is anyone else getting it? I'm in Grahtwood if it matters. Really frustrated atm.

    Two cancelled subscriptions here.

Move the server to EU, as you had originally claimed you would and maybe we'll resubscribe. That is, assuming we can ever have faith in Zenimax's terrible business ethics again.

    Such a shame.

    But for the record:

    No. What's the point?

Southern Sweden (that's in Europe, you guys know Europe isn't a part of North America, right?).

    Bahnhof. 600Mbps down / 100Mbps up. Fibre.
    • Are there any specific moments you recall experiencing extreme latency? While questing? While running dungeons? While in Cyrodiil?
There's always high latency. (And yes, 200ms makes for an awful MMO experience, especially after you've been promised an a nearby server and have paid good money in faith thereof).

While I feel your frustration, this thread is specifically for EU players using the "EU" server. Which is nonsense to be honest, because the only solution to the constant lag is to move the servers. What you are experiencing is something completely different and it does indeed need fixing.

I had huge latency issues for about 2 weeks, I kind of fixed them with a program called WTFast, the first 30 days you can use it for free. I don't know exactly how it worked but in stead of 600ms ping I have a 150ms ping now (which is normal considering the EU server is not in the EU). Maybe this helps other people with huge latency problems too temporarily. I'm not sure because this problems works I still have to blame Zenimax for the latency problems, or that it is my ISP causing the problems...

I had to use WTFast when we had the disconnect issues as I mentioned, and seeing your post I thought why not try it again to see if it improves....sadly it made no difference. In fact I suspect things are worse, tonight I have had multiple issues with draw rates, a loading screen at the initiation of combat, dying in combat and not realising as I'm still walking around and it wasn't until I tried to loot a mob that you get the message: "cant do that whilst dead" and to top it all off I have to kill the game, couldn't even log off.

I know its asking for a miracle but would anyone from Customer Services like to respond in this thread, and I mean something meaningful not the usual pat response we have come to expect.

Other players movements are not fluent and jumpy. They all look like they all use micro sorcerer's bolts.
Skills are delayed very noticably. This is probably the worst affect of lag. I have died many times because of skills delay. Opening conversations with npcs can take longer.
In Cyrodiil, this gets much worse like 2x or 3x times. Sometimes the client stops there.
