Just read the link to the Sony forum. Although I have no idea what the majority of the technical details mean it was very refreshing to see that there is at least one company who knows how to do good CS/PR.

The difference between that and what we get is indeed the proverbial chalk and cheese.
Yeah, I got a PC. I just don't feel the need to post it's specifications for an ego boost.

Since subscriptions start expiring tonight, I went to see how the community is managed at Planetside 2 from Sony.

Here's a post from the Chief Technology Officer for Sony about slow logins on one of the servers on Planetside 2 on their forums:

    https://forums.station.sony.com/ps2/index.php?threads/briggs-after-action-report.185306/

    Check out the responses.

There's a world of difference between communication at Sony Online, and Zenimax Online Studios.

I know that something is terribly wrong when someone is using SOE as example...

Cancelled my sub yesterday because of that..tried to play shadow/crit build....when i was in front of enemy with my 3sec inv ...i couldnt trigger a skill to stun him...that imo should be instant when in meele range.Im not going to irritate myself coz of Zos greed anymore, let alone pay to experiance that.Anyway playing now is just testing beta/bugs for consoles, for 15$ month..so enjoy ur stay peps and hope they will indeed bring servers to Eu before consolers will get their version. 250-300 ping in action game is unacceptable.

I concur, last night was the worst I've experienced in a while. Under these circumstances I've given up on my NB and play a resto sorcerer. I tend to fire up all healing spells in combat no matter what as I never know which "invisible" mob will "teleport" on me and instacast all of its abilities in a post-lag rampage!

And yeah, spells not firing was a very very bad yesterday. Much more than other days.
  • mblackeb17_ESO
    It´s unplayable. Period.
I´m here to PvP and as long as I have freaking lags like this, because we have an EU server on the other end of the world, my sub stays off (this month I still pay, cause I´ll give Zos a chance to fix this.

But be sure, I dont need an EU Server in 5 months, till then the majority of ppl left due to lag.

I pay for a working game with a server in the EU. I dont care, if Zos needs their technicians at one place. Thats not my Problem. I pay for what I get promised, not for lies. They should double their team if necessary.

The biggest joke is the question from the devs her in the forums: "We Have rumour of ppl from europe having lags. Pls tell us why.
    Are you kidding, gyus?

To add to all of that , while pvp is unplayable, pve is unplayable too in veteran ranks... if u cant time your block or your interrupt u die alot... mobs in veteran ranks hit like trucks... so while I was ok till now , im starting to realize that I wont be able to play with this lag... nor pvp or pve...

If you can't manage a bit of lag you shouldn't play online. Go back to single player. Problem solved

That's funny because I have no lag in AoC, SWTOR, StarCraft II, Diablo III, BF 4, HALO 4, etc etc etc. Only in this game because ZoS thinks they are the exception to the rule, and don't need servers in the EU for EU players ( and Russian, Asian, And African ) to have minimal lag.

200- 500 ms is not ''a bit'' of lag m8... for an action oriented game that lag is unacceptable imho.

Most of us can handle a bit of lag.
What we are getting, especially in PVP, is more than a bit.

Where are you all playing from? North pole, on a laptop?
I have no lag what so ever except for chat lag and bank lag. in the evenings its tricky to enter Cyradriil, but thats it. Once I am there, I get no lag.

Then again, I have a computer that can handle it. Do you?

Is this your first MMO? I'm not trying to be insulting I am serious. If you are not experiencing any lag or noticing any lag from a connection spanning half the globe I am just assuming you must be new to online gaming and know no better.

Another person that doesn't know how to check latency and is used to a sub par connection.

Also, I copied this from another thread where I posted.

your ignorance is showing. This game does NOT have highly demanding specs. Also, latency has 0 to do with the computers specs. I have a consistant 180 ms lag during the best of times, and up to 300 at times.

    These are the requirements.

    PC Recommended System Requirements

    Operating System: Windows 7 64-bit or Windows 8 64-bit
Processor: Quad Core 2.3GHz or equivalent processor
    Memory: 4GB System RAM
Hard Disk Space: 60GB free HDD space
    Video Card: Direct X 11 compliant video card with 2GB of RAM (NVIDIA® GeForce® 560 Ti / ATI Radeon™ 6950 or better)
    Sound: DirectX compatible sound card

    PC Minimum System Requirements

    Operating System: Windows XP 32-bit
Processor: Dual Core 2.0GHz or equivalent processor
    Memory: 2GB System RAM
Hard Disk Space: 60GB free HDD space
Video Card: DirectX 9.0 compliant video card with 512MB of RAM (NVIDIA® GeForce® 8800 / ATI Radeon™ 2600 or better)
    Sound: DirectX compatible sound card

    My computer

    OS : Windows 7 64-Bit
    Processor: I7-3820 3.8GHZ
Memory : 32 GB System RAM
Hard Disk Space : 740 GB
    Video Card : GeForce GTX 690 4GB w/dx 11

My system is more than capable of playing this game, HELL I can play Battlefield 4 on ultra w/60 FPS connected to the EU servers with 9 MS LAG, again, your ignorance is showing. ALSO, my net has ZERO to do with the connection, I did a test to Texas, and I had 0%packet loss ratio. So for me it is NOT Packet loss, it is SIMPLY the damned distance, educate yourself please. Here, a screen shot.

    97296830.png

NOW lets look at Frankfurt, where the damned servers SHOULD and are SUPPOSED TO BE.

    97297075.png

Oh would you look at that ?! The connection MYSTICALLY GOT BETTER, oh wait, its not mystical, its physics....

Lucky you, most of us have had a huge delay at some point between us pressing the button and the ability actually firing. The thing is Lag is rarely anything to do with your computer, because people make sure their computer can play the game. It's usually down to delays because of internet connections (like you get when your server is on another continent) or server-side issues. Neither of which we can do anything about.

Playing from the North Pole would cause considerably less lag than playing from the EU as its probably 2/3rds the distance and it would have a direct line to the US instead of jumping between 6 EU countries before even going over the Atlantic cables.

So no, unfortunetly we're not all playing from the North Pole.

Nah, I have had some of the worst lag EVER tonight, I mean, spikes and abilities not firing off, having to hit my attacks 3 or 4 times , and enemies dying 2 seconds after I did the killing blow. Resource manager said 240ms lag tonight as well.

  • selivares0eb17_ESO
Those lags are unacceptable. Do something with them, or you will lose EU players.
