Bank Account Being Charged?

    This is what I got from a support ticket that I sent it:
    In regard to your 30 days in game time, unfortunately the way the payment system works the card in which you decide to use to debit further payments from needs to be in credit of minimal 20 dollars I believe, the money is temporarily deducted but replaced within the next 5 - 10 minutes.
    It is a security check to ensure the card is valid. I know this can be a pain but it's something that unfortunately is out of our hands.

    yea well, its been 4 days here
    4 days, the money is still gone from my bank

    Someone a couple of pages ago who got help said that the CSR told him that he was really sorry for the long wait, that they HAVE to call the people in the order of signing up for phone support.

But still.. no reason what so ever to be authenticating and verifying that you have the funds for next month? that is *** to say the least. ive bought the game, gotten 30 days free time, thats all that matters, not wether or not i can pay for the next month, im not loaning money from them or something like that.

    But since you apparently work for them or something like that, cant really figure that out, but you sure do know ALOT about their business, then perhaps you can answer this.

    I bought the game from Zenimax and they need to verify i can pay for the next month, even though i allready payed up front for april.. why oh why, can my friends buy their game at Playgames, and get a new cdkey for april month in their email? . That just seems... well i dont know.. you tell me?

    I can assure you I'm not working at Zenimax, I'm not even located in the US. I don't know A LOT about their business either, I've seen that phone support button before though, and have always preferred phone communication myself to reduce the risk of miscommunication and other nonsense.

    I don't know what kind of keys your friends got, since I ordered on Zeni store as well. Up to this point I thought everyone had to set up a sub-plan and authorize before getting into the game, even the ones who bought the game boxed? Do you know if the key they got was a game time key or the actual cd-key they bound the game to their account with? Maybe it was some sort of package deal or something where they'd get a game card + the game? Not sure.

    And me, bought the game from Zeni store, 80 euros. (599 dkk) and so far. got nothing. (yeah got early access, but servers were down most of the time, when i had time to play;) )

    Yep, I understand. I haven't even heard of something like that before though (your friends situation, where they could activate it without authorization.) And I don't know why it is like that actually. Yeah, was kind of annoying that they brought the servers down for a period of time when I had time to play as well, was primetime here when they shut down for maintenance.

It's an authorization, so when you subscribe 15$ will be put pending (reserved if you will) and shortly after (depending on where you live) be released and everything will be back to normal.     I am more annoyed that the mail i got actualy did tell me they would help me get access even if I could not pay it now, but after that I have not heared anything from them at all and that was saturday I put the mail in to them.

    SWTOR did also if i remember correct. It became f2p dunno after how long but at least they were charging 1 € or something like that not the whole monthly fee.

    Nope. How is that even defending them? He asked about the process, if he would get the money back, and I clarified how it works. They are not FORCING you to play for another month. Calm down and contact support if you're having trouble with your authorization. If you have a valid CC you won't be charged for "another month", except during authorization which is a short period of time. That the authorization is for the full amount is indeed stupid, does not mean I can't clarify the process to someone who wants to know about it.

    how many times do i have to explain??? they are forcing us.
    i have 30 days of game time which is came with my purchase.
    also i did that purchase with my CC which will be checked again.
    and the checking way is to be sure i will make another payment for 30 days of game tie because they blocking that amount.
    that way is too dark to me and unusual. i can not acccept their way par principe.
    i am the customer and i dont like their way. they have to explain me or force me while im buying that game from thier official website. they could force me to make a subscription plan and explain, i will have that 30 days if i pay or assure to pay another 30 days. they please be sure mate, i wouldnt accept it.
    their way is tooooo dark. i didnt like it.

    as some here i bought the game from the zenimax page because i wanted to give them direct cash, now i regret. i dont use cc and i ill buy time-cards but, no cards outside and pay for it now? why if i already pay for the game and its 30 days. its not about money just want to enjoy what i bought they should not care if i play 1 month or 15, thats my choice as to fuel my car or not.

    hope this get fix for everyone we can all get a happy ending soon or u ill lose a lot of costumers maibe not me, but not everyone let things like this pass

    The money that they have "blocked" is only reserved for a shorter period of time, as part of the authorization. As previously mentioned it has been almost instant for people in EU, but taken longer for the US. If you cancel your subscription before it renews you should not be billed upon that date.

    Okay - S, like with most, this isn't making me very happy. I wish they would have been clearer about this from the start. I did not expect th-is in order to be able to play for the next month. I assumed that I would have 30 days to pay for more game time and/or set up a subscription and whatevers-whatever.

    For the last day or two - I have been able to log on pretty okay. Yay - But once again I am locked out of playing a game that I have paid for. I do not play a "bunch of MMOs". I do not know what to expect- This should have been explained to me and not in small print or in the middle of some extremely long terms and blah blah. Like seriously - What they hey?

    So now I would just like to play the game- Yeah, the money is not there in my account but I don't care - I just want to play.... I go to my account page and insert the only game code that, I think, I have received and it isn't prompting me to go anywhere.... This is all really difficult - I just want to play - not work - just play which is why I bought the game --- OR, ooops, I thought I had bought the game but I guess not .... I paid 60 bucks for a 5 day teaser. Yay! :)

    If you cant set up the recurring subscription due to lack of money on your card, you can contact support and they will help you out! (If you wonder where to find all this, check the first post of the thread!) :smile:

    Exactly my thought, i was like wtf why?!. Im not getting a loan from you? i allready payed for the 30 days, you didnt lend me it?...

    but i guess they will learn the hard way.. i give them 6 months, then its a F2P like everyother fail company that tried with an MMO.

    Okay - S, like with most, this isn't making me very happy. I wish they would have been clearer about this from the start. I did not expect th-is in order to be able to play for the next month. I assumed that I would have 30 days to pay for more game time and/or set up a subscription and whatevers-whatever.

    For the last day or two - I have been able to log on pretty okay. Yay - But once again I am locked out of playing a game that I have paid for. I do not play a "bunch of MMOs". I do not know what to expect- This should have been explained to me and not in small print or in the middle of some extremely long terms and blah blah. Like seriously - What they hey?

    So now I would just like to play the game- Yeah, the money is not there in my account but I don't care - I just want to play.... I go to my account page and insert the only game code that, I think, I have received and it isn't prompting me to go anywhere.... This is all really difficult - I just want to play - not work - just play which is why I bought the game --- OR, ooops, I thought I had bought the game but I guess not .... I paid 60 bucks for a 5 day teaser. Yay! :)

    If you cant set up the recurring subscription due to lack of money on your card, you can contact support and they will help you out! (If you wonder where to find all this, check the first post of the thread!) :smile:


    They are just giving same answer i have 4 support replies exactly the same.
    I ve stated that famous 1st post and update on that many times.
    Waiting for a call now but i dont think theyd be helping at all...

    It seems like the waiting time is really long right now, that might be because the EU and US users have different queues(speculation, since some users seem to be called in 30 min and others several hours), and that it's sunday (and late depending on where you are.)

    Someone a couple of pages ago who got help said that the CSR told him that he was really sorry for the long wait, that they HAVE to call the people in the order of signing up for phone support.

    Ive put in a phonecall back ticket 6 hours ago , and an email. even though i hulk rage in here, im of course gonna be polite with the CSR,( its not their fault). But still.. no reason what so ever to be authenticating and verifying that you have the funds for next month? that is *** to say the least. ive bought the game, gotten 30 days free time, thats all that matters, not wether or not i can pay for the next month, im not loaning money from them or something like that.

    I can assure you I'm not working at Zenimax, I'm not even located in the US. I don't know A LOT about their business either, I've seen that phone support button before though, and have always preferred phone communication myself to reduce the risk of miscommunication and other nonsense.

    I don't know what kind of keys your friends got, since I ordered on Zeni store as well. Up to this point I thought everyone had to set up a sub-plan and authorize before getting into the game, even the ones who bought the game boxed? Do you know if the key they got was a game time key or the actual cd-key they bound the game to their account with? Maybe it was some sort of package deal or something where they'd get a game card + the game? Not sure.

    And me, bought the game from Zeni store, 80 euros. (599 dkk) and so far. got nothing. (yeah got early access, but servers were down most of the time, when i had time to play;) )

    Yep, I understand. I haven't even heard of something like that before though (your friends situation, where they could activate it without authorization.) And I don't know why it is like that actually. Yeah, was kind of annoying that they brought the servers down for a period of time when I had time to play as well, was primetime here when they shut down for maintenance.

    They aren't really taking the money. It's an authorization, so when you subscribe 15$ will be put pending (reserved if you will) and shortly after (depending on where you live) be released and everything will be back to normal. Then you can cancel your subscription, play your 30 included days and decide after that if you wan't to renew it or not.

    Nope. How is that even defending them? He asked about the process, if he would get the money back, and I clarified how it works. They are not FORCING you to play for another month. Calm down and contact support if you're having trouble with your authorization. If you have a valid CC you won't be charged for "another month", except during authorization which is a short period of time. That the authorization is for the full amount is indeed stupid, does not mean I can't clarify the process to someone who wants to know about it.

    i have 30 days of game time which is came with my purchase.
    also i did that purchase with my CC which will be checked again.
    and the checking way is to be sure i will make another payment for 30 days of game tie because they blocking that amount.

    The money that they have "blocked" is only reserved for a shorter period of time, as part of the authorization. As previously mentioned it has been almost instant for people in EU, but taken longer for the US. If you cancel your subscription before it renews you should not be billed upon that date.

    Why what? Why they need to authorize? Well, I don't have a specific answer for that. Either it could be to protect themselves against fraud, or just a market scheme to get people to set up a subscription. There should be a reason, that I hope they tell us, because it's a standard across subscription models in MMO's and have been for a really long time. I hope Zeni can clarify this in the following days though.

    Why it takes longer for the US to authorize than EU? I don't know. It could be because they use different banking systems or something. No idea.

    I hope everyones issues will be solved, whether it'd be a refund or just to get in the game. And in my personal opinion I don't mind the authorization, but can't deny it'd be a more accessible game for the users if they didn't have it. That they authorize for the full amount is just bad IMO.

    On rationalizing this further I could not think of one reason for this full payment to validate a credit card but for market sales or just plain greed of a company. Smells an awful like EA in this company. I have to wonder if they hired the same people that work for EA in their company.

    The lack of compassion and care for their customers is really disturbing. They have a wonderful and beautiful game. I do love it, but the company within itself is killing whatever chance this game has. They are sending their customers running to WoW. And Blizzard is doing a happy dance and welcoming the running customers into their warm and stable arms.

    You would think this being a new MMO that plans to keep a sub, would indeed try harder to succeed and not chase their customers away. On a personal level, if this game goes F2P then I will also be running back to WoW (I like to sub, honestly it is cheaper than most F2P). Even though WoW has a sucky community (This community is great btw), it has a stable company that actually care about their customers. I can vouch for this, since I had a serious problem when I played WoW and Blizzard bent over backwards to get it fixed.

    Asking for validation isn't unheard of certainly, but taking the full sub even temp is just wrong (btw I have the billing receipt from WoW back from a few years ago and also my information and receipt of box of BC and I was charged nothing for my first 30 days and NOT asked for CC. Yes I keep receipts stupidly for years).

    It seems this company care not for their customers, but the potential money the game could bring. The problem with that is, by ticking a large quantity of their customers off, those figures are going to far from true. Actually by the treatment of this company, I foresee WoW's subs escalating in large quantities..

    Considering I've contacted support twice in the last 2 days and I am still unable to play is dumb, I paid $120AUD for a game I can play unless I then pay another $15 totally unacceptable. I understand wanting to make sure our card details are correct, but for the whole sub amount? every other place makes it for $1 or less. and the fact that the page you go to set up the sub says your being charged 0 is misleading and wrong.

    I for one will be asking for my money back.

    I'm in Turkey. And my damn credit card does not allowe me to pay other countries but Turkey. So, there is no time cards yet. Even if this there we can't play this game anymore. Me means my guild over 300 people. We paid the game price. And we quit already, we dont want to play now and we didnt like that perspective to forced to given us. we just don't after behavior like this. 300 players make 3600 euros for just one month. Zenimax can have that for years maybe. But at this very moment they can suck their ****. Because we are not considering to play anymore. Just suck it that guys. You earned it.

    im in turkey too. even my credit cart allows me to pay other countries, i will not pay anything untill they give me my 30 days of game time without any request /force.
    they should let me decide not force me. f..k their policy. that is theft

    So they are not working weekend and they just released the game? When i tried to redeem my code it was friday night and there were like 10 pages on this forum either they dont care after 45 pages still theres not a single answer or they dont want to...

    Others have said it takes between 3-5 business days for the authorization to be handled in the US. I have no idea if that's true since I'm european.

    Ugh... I can't even get them to do the BS authorization charge on my CC because they won't accept my normal american billing address... Apparently, it's another known issue that there's really nothing anyone can do anything about (except maybe wasting a bunch of time on the phone...).

    Just thought I would post this for information, I signed up earlier this evening in the UK for a recurring 30 days subscription using my Credit card (not one month they are not the same).

    I’ve just logged in to check and there is a ‘Pending’ transaction for one 30 days access on my card, however if I hover over the ‘explanation’ pop up I get a message that the amount will be ‘set aside’ until the transaction is cancelled it will then take another 14 days before the funds are returned to the card.

    So yes my card has had a ‘one 30 days subscription’ charged against the total I can charge against this card, and if I was near my limit (I’m not, I keep a very close eye on my spending), this amount ‘could’ put someone over their spending (i.e. credit) limit and incur extra charges or the amount could be refused.

    For myself I’m not worried I’ll let it ride for the 30 days and see how the game plays then make a decision as if I carry on subscribing so I can give the required 30 days notice.
