Someone already posted a picture of the exact same horse model already existing, just minus the glow and slightly different coloring to the armor.... the arms already exist as well, they're just on an enemy model. Now.... I'm not an expert, but I feel like it'd be relatively easy to downsize those existing arms and slap them onto another existing model (I've done similar things while creating mods for Skyrim). And this does result in a "new" end product, but I think it's pretty clear that all of the assets are being reused from something else.

Well. It's been a while since I've seen a 7 page topic on a Crown Store mount. Mission accomplished, perhaps?

(If one in every 10 people buy something else in the Crown Store after going in just to see the preview on this for kicks, it will have served a purpose).

I try hard not to judge a mount until I've seen it in game, but likely this one will not be for me!

Haha, trust me; I fully agree. But I do think in writing, especially what's supposed to be a tale of something wonderous happening (like a god level being gifting you something).... it makes sense to have it be an over the top, almost unimaginable thing-- especially when you consider whether or not the writer of said tale is a reliable narrator or maybe someone exaggerating things to make themselves seem more impressive. But that's also why I think it makes even less sense for it to be an actual mount and not just because it does look ridiculous, haha.

That's definitely fair. The more I look at this mount, the less I like it. And I actually like some of the flashy mounts. I am not opposed to flashy mounts in general! But, this one is a lot. I don't even understand how it came to be LOL. I'll still give them points for creativity, but like, it probably shouldn't be something that actually is in the game.

Yeah.

Maybe after Sai Sahan paid the ultimate price to save Tamriel, Meridia removed his arms, cloned them, and glued them to the spare Luminous Meridian Auroran Charger Warhorse she had in the back stable, and gave the monstrosity to Garlas Malatar as a joke, knowing he could never ride it through the tiny arches on the bridge to his Ayleid abode.

However, this makes it even more difficult to comprehend how Sai miraculously reappeared with both arms still attached to lead us on a new adventure after his death.

There's a reason King Narilmor ended up like this - missing his legs and with his horse's arms somehow stuck in his chest (or were the arms chopped off and replaced with the horse's arms instead? I don't know and I don't want to know!):

Red Dead Redemption originally came out in May 2010, just under four years before ESO's early access.

RDR's PC version just released, after keeping gamers waiting for over fourteen friggin' years. The horses in that game make even the nicest ESO horses look like they were drawn by a toddler who's never seen a real equine.

I know, I know...different company, different game (though I find RDR1&2 are far more similar to Elder Scrolls than different), different game engine, different design team and resources...but still:

Look at these handsome horsies! (Thankfully, the money to buy them mentioned in the post is in-game dollars you earn from normal play like hunting, gathering, and completing quests—not real-world dollars.)

Even the "fantasy" mounts in the Undead Nightmare online multiplayer expansion run circles around ESO's magical mounts. (Multiplayer was stripped from the PC release, but I hear the mod community is already on it, if you're into that sort of thing.) Like the Four Horses of the Apocalypse, or the Unicorn, or the creepy as heck Undead Horse (mislabeled as the Death Apocalypse horse in that post).

Again, RDR is almost four years older than ESO, and we're still getting ESO horses in 2024 that look like random, anatomically incorrect body parts shoved through a potato masher and then thrown together in a metal cocktail shaker. I'm usually pretty neutral on even the most incomprehensible mounts in ESO, but this Symphony of Blades is just...who thought this was a good idea, again? Why not just have it be surrounded by rotating levitating blades? I can think of multiple ways to make this mount work. "Random Symphony of Blades arms spliced haphazardly onto an Auroran mount" is not one of those ways.

I didn't intend this to be a heavily Red Dead Redemption post, but, dang, those gorgeous horses have been living rent-free in my head for the past week. Which made the November Crown Showcase for ESO feel like a slap in the face, after seeing this galloping regret in the shape of a mount.

Technically the ones I posted pictures of have the upgrades visible. They don't even have the armor to hide the awful legs if the Speed isn't upgraded.







I'd assume that maybe the new one might get armor on the legs if you have Speed to at least 20, but that's really not gonna make it look much better, lawl.

I definitely agree that this horse model is one of the worst of them all. The legs are so thick and broken.
But I have to say that the Grand Pillion Draft Horse is the ugliest horse they've ever released in my opinion.

It is just the usual stocky horse model used many times over. Specifically it's the Auroran Zenith Warhorse, same armour and all, but with the difference they have attached Symphony of Blades arms to it. That's not a new model, it's very simple reuse of already existing models.

This particular mount aside, the horse models in this game are just plain wrong and sad.

Horses are such beautiful, graceful creatures. I don't understand how it was possible to mess them up so badly in such a graphically beautiful game.

I have seen much older games do them real justice where they look like actual horses. There is no excuse for what they look like in this game. It's just horrible.

And it doesn't end at what they look like. Even the way they move is disgraceful.

As much as I love horses, I can't bring myself to use them in this game. It feels like riding a bulky, clunky, misshapen rocking "horse."
