What are your opinions about the Antiquities System, are you excited about it?

*** I don’t see 1-piece items moving the needle that much on player gear builds. Antiquities will only allow one slotted artifact at a time (not two). So, it doesn’t change the meta 5-5-2 or 5-3-2-2 setup. Unless the artifacts have an expressively strong 1-piece bonus.

Per site:
"you can scry the location of ancient relics and excavate them via a series of new minigames."
I don't think they would put "mini games" in the middle of Trial or Dungeon run, that would be crazy.

It's the one and only thing I'm waiting for in all the new stuff they announced. (Not a big fan of Nords or Skyrim; no use for dungeons, trials or arenas; Lyris is by faaaar the least interesting of the companions; less than zero interest in all things Vampire, be it lore or playing one.)
I just hope I'll also be excited about the Antiquities system. Playing some ESO-themed candycrush/minesweeper is fine with me, if it unlocks lore and nice things. (Nice things in my book are mostly "cosmetic", though. Or special gear effects that are interesting in overland game. I find no joy in some "New BiS" same-old boring combat bonus stuff.) Travelling Tamriel to actually get to ancient sites sounds like fun ! Even more so if there are some puzzles/riddles/obstacles at the end, to get the true Indiana Jones vibe !
But if the system is designed as too much of a grind (with fragments to make pieces to make stuff, and the fragments you find solely determined by RNG, for example) I'll probably run out of steam. If it calls for a lot of work, then I'd wish you could at least choose to direct that work towards something specific (for example a certain kind of item). Or, if the thing you find is totally random, it shouldn't be a grindfest to arrive at something you maybe never wanted.
Getting told stories and lore about the ancient places/things you find will definitely be great, and I'm looking forward to that in any case !

It’s basically a carbon copy. In WoW you had almost the same mini games, locating the artifact, digging it up and then puzzling pieces together to create...
... mounts
... pets
... cosmetic items
... high end gear
... recipes for professions
I mean it looks quite nice but it feels like ZOS just checked out WoW‘s Archeology profession (introduced in 2010) and copy pasted it into Tamriel.
