Antiquities System - Are you excited?

All depends on what the Mythic pieces give as a bonus and how it is incorporated into the armor/weapon slots. It would nice if they gave us a new mythic slot so we can still run 5/5/2 or 5/3/2/2.

Reserved excitement. I am excited for the potential but i know it is probably going to go one of two ways. It will either end up like the Justice System, PVP, etc. and other similar features and be mostly neglected. This will lead to either not doing it after the novelty wears off or having to type "DESTROY" 90 times a week because we have a half dozen one trick wonders in every zone and that one elusive item that drops 0.00000000000001% of the time. So they can give the impression you have a lot to do.

OR what may be worse, and i really hate typing "DESTROY", is they turn it into an ATM like housing while mostly ignoring the requests from the housing community. For example, since they refuse to up furnishing limits,we asked for smaller housing that the average player could afford. They gave us medium houses that are still huge just a bit less crowns and with a lower furnishing limit.

I really hope i am wrong but i see current zones getting artifacts once and then being forgotten about and the only time we get new artifacts is in the new zones when added which will be boring. It would be nice to see them add new artifacts to 3-4 zones every update.

So i like the potential, but i know that its probably going to go sideways and going to end up more meh than awesome.
    Guardedly optimistic here.

    - Combat Enthusiasts (both PvE and PvP) ***

*** I don’t see 1-piece items moving the needle that much on player gear builds. Antiquities will only allow one slotted artifact at a time (not two). So, it doesn’t change the meta 5-5-2 or 5-3-2-2 setup. Unless the artifacts have an expressively strong 1-piece bonus.

    5-3-3-1 and 5-4-2-1

Reserving judgement until more details available but excited at the same time.

Little cautious because of how the psijic skill line was implemented as far as number of skill points needed and having to grind for it so many times since I have 18 characters. If we have 2 new skill lines will there be enough skill points available in the new chapter to complete both skill lines. Personally, I like to complete each character with psijic, darkbrotherhood, thieves guild, mages or fighters guild, undaunted and of course class and weapons skill lines.

Also concerned about the one-piece bonus items and how they will be worked into some builds for combat. Will have to wait and see the details.

No not really. They need to fix pvp performance and give us another somewhat pvp related update, preferably open world and not more no-cp bgs. Other than those two things idrc about what they do, but im sure many people will like it.. Plus many of us will end up doing it anyway if the rewards are worth it. Hopefully they do it right.

Also they should have done spell crafting, like they said they would so many years ago, but r i p to that idea.

Yes if the stuff is as good as thieves guild and dark brother hood outside of combat for roleplay this is going to be fantastic. To this day I absolutely adore when a noob first sees a player killing an npc and is like wtf should I do? lol.

I just hope the final piece isn't behind some HM 12 man trial that only 10% of the population can reach.

    Per site:
"you can scry the location of ancient relics and excavate them via a series of new minigames."

I don't think they would put "mini games" in the middle of Trial or Dungeon run, that would be crazy.

    Let that sink in....

    Mini games.

The feature of this chapter is a series of mini games.

How many sites are you gonna have to dig before a mythic piece drops? Now, how many digs before RNG favors you with the piece you actually want? You honestly don't think this "mini game" that's the big "game changing feature" of this chapter will favor you with a piece on day one, do you?

    [removed for baiting]

Again, let it sink in that the feature of a CHAPTER is a series of mini games. 😶

Sceptical rather than excited. I suspect the worthwhile rewards will require a massive grind for each and every character.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was monetised for everything except the very basics. Not just the opportunity to buy the skill lines once they're max'ed on one character. The scrying tablet with its mini-game matching shapes and colours sounds an awful lot like playing candy crush on a phone. So, how many extra goes are we going to get per $?

Fitting one piece of mythic armour or jewellery into a 5/5/2 equipment set-up will also come at a price.

The lore will all end up on the wiki's anyway.

At this point in time I'd say I'm not sold on the idea.

Edit: I forgot to mention RNG. Most of the time you'll be digging up that same book you already found a thousand times, or the Antiguities equivalent of Crown Crate potions, or maybe even sell-for-gold trash.

Yes, I'm excited about the Antiqities idea !

It's the one and only thing I'm waiting for in all the new stuff they announced. (Not a big fan of Nords or Skyrim; no use for dungeons, trials or arenas; Lyris is by faaaar the least interesting of the companions; less than zero interest in all things Vampire, be it lore or playing one.)

I just hope I'll also be excited about the Antiquities system. Playing some ESO-themed candycrush/minesweeper is fine with me, if it unlocks lore and nice things. (Nice things in my book are mostly "cosmetic", though. Or special gear effects that are interesting in overland game. I find no joy in some "New BiS" same-old boring combat bonus stuff.) Travelling Tamriel to actually get to ancient sites sounds like fun ! Even more so if there are some puzzles/riddles/obstacles at the end, to get the true Indiana Jones vibe !

But if the system is designed as too much of a grind (with fragments to make pieces to make stuff, and the fragments you find solely determined by RNG, for example) I'll probably run out of steam. If it calls for a lot of work, then I'd wish you could at least choose to direct that work towards something specific (for example a certain kind of item). Or, if the thing you find is totally random, it shouldn't be a grindfest to arrive at something you maybe never wanted.

Getting told stories and lore about the ancient places/things you find will definitely be great, and I'm looking forward to that in any case !

I agree with every word of this. 0 excitment for all things released. Except this. And even then it has the potential to be ruined.

At this point no, and I suspect by the popularity of mods that direct players exactly to the location of items, a lot of players don't enjoy these types of scavenger hunts, and do them as a means to an end.

It depends on how it is made, and if it is something farmed, i mean if you have to do it a lot of times or if it is an unique system with nice rewards for the time invested.

Antiquities. Another one grinds the dust.

Now I'll have to do antiquities-missions over and over to grind / farm all the stuff I need for my characters.

Also I'll have more items to fill my inventory. Which is already full despite maxed bank, maxed character inventories and maxed house chests.

Additionally I don't plan on buying the new chapter (Grindmoore) before/at release, as we know now it will probably 50% off after three months like it happened to Elsewhere.

It's archaeology in WoW all over again.

It’s basically a carbon copy. In WoW you had almost the same mini games, locating the artifact, digging it up and then puzzling pieces together to create...

    ... mounts
    ... pets
    ... cosmetic items
    ... high end gear
    ... recipes for professions

I mean it looks quite nice but it feels like ZOS just checked out WoW‘s Archeology profession (introduced in 2010) and copy pasted it into Tamriel.

You cannot really say "it’s basically a carbon copy" about something you have never seen. Maybe it is. Maybe it is not. We will find out more when Greymoor hits PTS. However, Elder Scrolls and Tamriel is a much better environment for archeology than what you get with World of Warcraft. There is the potential for ZOS to do it better than WoW, even if they do it the exact same way. I doubt that they will do it the exact same way, but it will be interesting to see what they do.
