Since the free weekend has kicked in I'm struggling to even stay logged in. The lag spikes in populated zone kick me out all the time. Fantastic.

There's no escaping it. I even tried Mudfish again, and for some reason the best service I can get now is around 246ms to ESO servers with the VPN (305ms+ in game). Before ESO free weekend, I was getting 205-220ms.

I believe the additional load over this weekend has created more latency on the servers to service clients. It's okay if your connection is still under 300ms (lower the better) but once you are pushed over 300ms the wheels fall off often and you get kicked.

If I'm correct, this really sucks. Free weekends are great, but not at the detriment to others. A small increase in ms delay pushes my connection, even with a VPN in use back into the red, and is unsupportable.

    Lucky you.

I only get 240-250 in GW2, whereas even with Mudfish on ESO I am getting 280-300. (350 without.)

    That's from NZ.

I can only reminisce about ESO when I stared playing getting 240 ping. So sad now.

ESO ping is just getting worse and worse as time goes by and ESO support does not care. I gave up on them when they kept blaming me and my ISP. Akamai is the problem.

Mudfish is starting to annoy me. Start playing. Why am I double tapping keys? Ping rate 320+. Darn..I forgot to set up mudfish first. Exit out. Set up mudfish. Log back in. Now I can start playing.

If Akamai is the problem, set your Mudfish node or VPN to a location near the ESO server data center (Texas for NA). You'll bypass more of Akamai this way

Also try another ESO server with refreshed VPN pings. You may be surprised that an alternative ESO server works better for you. IIRC ESO's EU server does not use Akamai

I am not home atm but there is a thing I can do that tests each pathway and lists them. I then just select the best one. Sometimes the path I am using seem to be going haywire (i.e. spikes) and I do this test thingy and choose another path and it settles most times..

Fellow Antipodeans in this thread seem to prefer Mudfish to improve ESO performance (a pox on your house Akamai) I use Battleping which gives me a stable connection and 320 ping (240 back in the day).

I was simply wondering why the preference for Mudfish? Is it objectively the best or does it simply come down to personal preference?

I bought a $2.99 pay for traffic Mudfish thing back in February and at this rate I won't need to recharge it until around November (not making that up), so I haven't had much incentive to try alternatives. That said, we probably need a Mudfish forum because it can be opaque and difficult to be sure you're gettging the best out of it. I still haven't worked out why I get a 50-80ms drop when connecting to EU over Mudfish but a much smaller and less noticeable drop when connecting to NA.

Meanwhile, ZOS should be ashamed of their silence on this problem.

I never tried Mudfish since Battleping works well for me and its so cheap anyway. I get 240 ping with Battleping (320ish without) and I connect to the San Jose server.

You'd think the ping would be best connecting to Texan servers as the ESO server is in Texas but the traffic still ends up being re-routed from there to California anyway so San Jose works best. I assume a similar set up with Mudfish is going to work the best.

I used Battleping in the past, but now I am trialling Mudfish as it has more servers from which to choose. Also Mudfish is pay per data use rather than monthly sub. So if you are a casual then Mudfish may represent better value.

Both are fine, to be honest. Neither is ideal.

    BTW, I get;
    320 - 350 ping without VPN.
250 - 300 ping with Mudfish. (250-260 on my current connection, off-peak USA)

We will never get a response. I bought a mount with 400 gems. I had personal issues with it and submitted a ticket requesting an exchange. I got a response quickly saying we have 'escalated' it. 9 days later nothing further. I got help from these forums in the meantime to make my issue 'manageable' and I closed the ticket. Now if they cant respond reasonable quickly to a moron (me) that spends money on crates to keep him happy then what hope have we got? I am no longer a moron.

I couldnt even play Fungal Grotto 1 without crippling lag the other day. Darting jolting and actions not going off. I mean, we won anyway cos FG1, but it makes me a saaaad panda. Also, I play PS4 EU from Melbourne Aus, so not ideal but too late now

Wonder how much a game needs to be broken for it to be recalled?
Does a "mmo" need to meet a "standard"?

Because there are mmos that work fine an then there is eso

    here is an idea.
How bout ZOS tells Akamai that we dont want the oceanic players having to do so many hops around the world. So only make them hop more direct. Say Aus to nz to hawaii to zos servers.
Na that will never work its too simple.
