At a guess, they are trying to derail the tread so that it gets closed by the mod. Don't buy into it. The OP's topic is still very much relevant. Still waiting on official acknowledgement that our OCE/SEA routing to NA servers have increased latency brought upon by introduction of Akamai and that there's an action plan to remedy this issue.

The server loads at the moment are no doubt adding to our woes and should be prioritized but once corrected we will still be left with excessive latency and it needs to be addressed. It never used to be like this.

I dont know what part of the world counts weeks as years... But good luck where ever that place is dear Sir/ or Madame.

Now lets get back to getting zos to fix what they broke years ago.

The carnage on Eu server (where there actually is a server that needs upgrading) shows the level of communication zos has for paying customers.......almost nil for a whole server after 4 months of seriously degraded performance (not game lag etc although that has reportedly got worse but simply logging in without long loading screens).

Login issues that can be 20min long and told just a little more after 4 months.......understandably upsetting those on Eu that have been crying about their issues for months.

Given the size of Eu server (apparently that is the issue....there are just too many people on the servers) and the time it took to get a response to a major performance issue, I think it is fair to say its unlikely we will ever get acknowledged.

This is my world since a maintenance outage late in January. Any built up area that has more than 5 players lag spikes from the 300+ connectivity that I typically have to 999+

    Participating in events is terrible.

Here I'm simply trying to turn in two quests in Summerset to get anniversary boxes.

You can see other players teleport lagging around me and the 999+ latency. Engaging the NPC's to get them to respond takes minutes of pressing E to talk to them.

I'm simply trying to click through the menu's to get the reward. The lag is so great that even clicking through these is too hard for the game to respond in most cases and the same voice dialogue is heard over and over.

Eventually, on the second quest, the game kicks me without even providing an error message. It simply gives up, too hard.

@ZOS_GinaBruno < This is what your game looks to me from Australia during US peak time.

Outside of US peak times, there's less players on so I can normally complete these quests with less lag. Saying this though, the lag is there constantly, even on 300+ latency.

Can we please get acknowledgement of this issue and when it will be remedied? It never used to play like this.

    This this this!

how well do vpns work generally if youre in the country youre trying to connect to? I sympathize with oce players. mine isnt as bad, but compared to other games it doesnt make sense

i sit at a comfortable 30ms in WoW, but typically 130-150 in eso.

does vpns actually help or am i too close to the megaserver to see any real benefit

I am testing on the PTS from Australia, very minor improvement from live, averaging 320-340 rather than the 350-400 on live. The issue with Akamai redirecting the traffic still introduces the same additional lag as on live, the server just seems to be under less stress.

I have almost completed the new trial on pts. Latency is no better. The trial runs like any other trial for me, very low frames and more laggy than other instances.

I use exit lag and on live can get under 300 ping (but not in pvp). Even though the ping appears ok, there is still alot of lag as has been stated over and over.

I dont see or expect any improvement of PTS over live.

    edit:
Will say though that exit lag has been the most stable vpn I have used and I have tried most of them.

Thanks for the replies re the PTS ping rate.

I've been using Mudfish VPN for the last month or two and it brought my ping back down to average around the 250 mark. There are sometimes jumps to 300 here and there but nothing terrible.

I was against using a VPN at first as I thought why should I pay even more (I am a subscriber - that model works best for me rather than purchasing DLC) to make the game playable?

But mudfish is so cheap. I think I paid $2.99 for so many GBs of which I've only used 4% or something so far....

The $2.99 pay-for-traffic option gets you about 17GB. ESO uses very little bandwidth so I've barely used a third of it in over two months. However, I find it somewhat confusing to set up. It makes a noticeable difference connecting to EU from Melbourne, but little difference connecting to NA. Even with Mudfish I cannot get it below 300ms to NA but that might well be a configuration problem. Maybe we need a separate Mudfish thread.
    PC NA, PC EU

Holy cow. I thought my 265-280 was bad. I moved recently from west coast US to Central Philippines, where we have Faux Fiber. With a VPN I was in the 300's, and that after tinkering with "fastest" versus "US" or whatever. Being new to VPN, I had started using one more for sercurity and privacy than anything, hence I hadn't heard of Mudfish. I knew Oceanic was in a pickle ping wise before I came, and was hoping the Faux (which I didn't know was Faux) would help over the DSL I expected to have. Apparently something is a bit better in my situation, but it's massively worse than what I was used to.

I'm becoming a meme to some of my friends. Almost every dungeon or trial run, I'm always the one getting disconnected. My wife, who's playing right beside me, do not share the same problem. It's almost always me. It started after the last huge patch. Ping too suddenly dips to 500 range. I can still play around 300-400 mark, but my normal before was around 250-275.

My brother has been experiencing the same disconnects (in trials, approaching large battles in pvp, but also random times) for a number of weeks now, whereas I haven't had a disconnect at all for the same period (previously it was me that would disconnect at least once each session). His room is just down the hall, we have fibre to the home and both run Mudfish.

Must be different hardware or software (firewall??) settings to cause that?

In the time between my continuous disconnects and now having none, I haven't changed any of my settings.

In terms of Mudfish I've found the settings difficult to decipher, let alone optimise. After stuffing round with it for the last 3 months, I now just choose 'Auto Selection' for the node and it routes it through the US node with the lowest average ping.

Do any Aussie players play on the PS4 EU server? Do you use a vpn? Does it help? I made the mistake of selecting EU when I first started, assuming it meant British English and not American. Now I’m in too deep financially and time spent to change. Cant even do dungeons anymore due to the lag and rubber banding
