Are there enough Classes in ESO? Which class do you think is missing in ESO?

Considering how little class identity this game provides (most stam dps play the same, mag dps are similar and tanks/healer are also quite alike to play) I don't see how a new class will help here.

Adding a pure support class like Bard (I assume you mean something like FFXIV's BRD) would only work if you gave him/her feats/buffs that other classes don't have or you take them away from them. Otherwise nobody would choose that class in any kind of content. I don't see that coming.

And seeing how bad ZOS is in handling balance in this game between classes already I don't think that we need a new class.

In case nobody has noticed, ZOS has REMOVED classes so far.

Sure, they can do like for warden: add a new class and it make it absurdly overpowered so they get big cash from all the baddies quickly switching to it.

Then, some months later, nerf it to below the ground ("to combat power creep") and streamline it.

Streamline. This is the ESO Gospel keyword.

Add a class with unique and signature abilities, then slowly take out all these unique abilities so the class players find out they may as well use the basic common stuff (armor / weapon skills).

Sorcs are an example of that. They did't even care to give or leave us an unique spammable. We just double bar 90% of our class (and then press "1-2-3-4" for "engaging gameplay!") and the rest are general skills because ours are made to suck so much. Were good, then forcibly made mediocre over time.

So, what's the point adding new classes, if by 6 months they are neutered and become a cross-copy-paste?

I think the Summerset expansion is doing well without a new class. The Warden class in Morrowind is a good class, but it lacks identity versus other classes. More skill lines would better which is what Summerset did with the Psjiic line skills.

It's not a particularly good class. It's been the the worst DPS class in the game since release, while the healer and tank variety still fall behind templar and DK. Magicka warden is also the worst PvP class in the game (although stamina is solid).

As a result, the warden represents only around 2% of the classes on trials leader boards. The other classes are all between 20-25%.

    speaking of classes.
Im missing some sort of Hunter. Now i know, peeps are saying, well, play a stamsorc with pets, but first off, i dont think its realy viable, second i dont like the mechanic of summoning pets as a "hunterclass".
Now, is a Stamden hunter viable? Doubleslotting the bear ult seems to take a lot away from beeing competitive as DPS.
If its not viable, id say: We need a hunter class/Skill line

    The Leeroy Jenkins Class.
This can be done on any class already with great success.
Ran into one in an nAS pug, one of the first in ran straight to the main boss and triggered nAs+2 before all in the group was in.
It did not work well :)
It got a few Leeroy Jenkins comments.

Probably easiest on tanks as you can pull all the trash on to bosses, this can even work.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

Necromancer, but given their status as villains in TES lore, it won't ever happen.

How would the base game story even work for a necromancer? Your story would have to end before you even go to Coldharbour since Meridia would refuse to work with you.

The "necromancers = evil" point was reiterated again in summerset on multiple occasions.

Really? Because as I recall, they just recently introduced an Undaunted character that is a good Necromancer. And we already had Vastarie as an existing example of a good Necromancer. Are you saying that Necromancers are inherently more evil than my vampire nightblade that kills entire towns with the blade of woe? Or my DK that likes to hear her enemies scream as she immolates them? Meridia worked with both of them just fine. (and she worked with the player in Skyrim & Obilvion, even if they were Daedra worshiping-Vampire-Necromancer-Cannibal-Assassins.) Heck, you start the game with a spell that steals people's souls and sends them to live a tortured existence in the soul cairn for all eternity, are you saying its worse to puppet their empty bodies around for a bit?

We already know that Necromancer will be the next class. This thread is proof. Notice that the second somebody mentioned "new class" this became a necromancer thread? Also, ZoS is smart enough to know that introducing the most desired class would make them an insane amount of money on character slots. I for one would be immediately buying four new slots so I can have a necromancer for each role/build and playing back through the entire game at least once (which will keep me playing, which = more money for ZoS)

None of that matters though because while eso sometimes bends the lore to fit in game play functionality (or simply looks the other way), playing as a necro in the current eso would make absolutely no sense. They would really have to reach or design a play experience specifically caterering to necro characters that isolates them from regularly accessible areas (1.)since gaurds would slay you on sight and completely change how the single player main storyline plays out (2.) since merdia would never help you and (3.)sai sahan would cleave you down in a second.

    1. Why do people think this? Necromancy is not illegal, except for in Hammerfell, and its not like you're going to go around shouting that you're a Necromancer. Killing people, however, is illegal everywhere but nightblades aren't attacked on sight.
    2. See my above comment to MLG.
    3. Oh dear, we should probably tell Abnir that he's been killed by Sai, he doesn't seem to have noticed.

Much more interested in new weapon trees, since those can be used by all classes and players, improving build diversity. Some lore friendly options:

One Hand and Magic for classic TES spellblade playstyles, and more magicka class weapon options for ESO (staves get boring after a while). Should be by far the easiest of these options to implement due to sharing basic animations and weapon designs of existing weapon skills.
    2382be4fed5379aa75007426f8e9bced.jpg

Crossbows for more ranged stamina options. Make them 2h to distinguish from the Fighter's Guild skill (a one handed crossbow), and make them single target focused since bows are primarily used for AOE.
    latest?cb=20120607131344&path-prefix=ja

Spears/Polearms because TES fans have been begging for them to return ever since Morrowind.
    0b76fad32964d5a5f49e511131fa6e2b.jpg

Fist Weapons since Unarmed combat is a classic TES staple as well, and introducing them as gauntlet-weapons allows for the skills to have plenty of magicka-infused options and morphs. So that's another option for magicka builds. Magicka tank with infused gauntlets sounds pretty awesome to me.

Solution for the "we need more/less classes":

    1. Get rid of class selection at character creation.
    2. Put the class skill lines behind quest lines (like vampire and werewolf)
    3. Make them mutualy exclusive but changeable (like vampire and werewolf)
    4. Take all the overlapping class skills and put them into weapon/armor/guild/world skill lines (heck, even into crafting)
    5. Make the class skills really unique (instead of the "all the same in different color" they are aiming for at the moment)
    6. Make sure a mix of those unique skills is benefical in encounters

    Benefits:
    - More flexibility for the players
    - You can still add more "clases" with DLCs, Addons, Shop
    - Classes can offer more unique skills because you don't have to make sure every class has the same tools
    - Players still need to level everything but don't need to grind repetetive content again (this could also be a drawback depending on design philosophy. But I think there is enough content right now that it won't impact play time that much)

...but that is a different universe, and a different lincese (even tho it would be way cool to have an MMO for that one!)

B5 references aside, I suspect the word looked for was "artificer", a class that picks up where the dwemer left off and goes right into "clockwork city" territory... doing "magic" through clockwork artifacts and power crystals and such.

Thing is, compared to the rest of Tamriel, that sort of stuff is rather -rare-, which is -why- Sothra Sil and his CWC is such a big deal Even a thousand years later that sort of thing is still rather rare and ill-understood... So it would not fit all that well into the 2nd era ESO...

Please explain to me why you post stuff like this? You’ve been on the game since launch. You’re still only 400 something Cp. You don’t play the game. You never have. You do nothing but buy and sell to make gold. Own what 25 guilds you steal gold from. You have 3 PS4’s ( admittance ss ) you have how many 25 + alternate accounts...
you’re not interested in the game. You’ve been banned a few times. Unfortunately you hide what you do well with your multiple alt acts. New costumes or classes don’t make you gold. Where’s the relevance?

It would make for a decent guild DLC... much like TG or DB in size... the story could start with something like: "Here, have this magical mask and infiltrate the remains of the worm cult, they have gone into hiding and are planning something nasty again..." with an decision along the lines of this story... will your character just pretend to be a minion-for-hire and infiltrate that way, or actually learn necromancy, gain the skill line, get involved and all that... (that way it would be fun to play for both those who character-wise want to necromance themselves, and those who for backstory reasons never would... and yes, there are such people who have characters that will never play the TG or DB or Psijic questlines for backstory reasons)
    Sun7dance wrote: »

Newsflash - the game will never ever be prefect, it will always remain a work in progress. You think new skill lines like the Psijic bring no new problems? You think new sets like Sload bring no new problems?
The only true way to avoid your dreaded "new problems" will be keeping the game static, never adding any new stuff, ever... and that would make a lot of people leave, reducing profits while server upkeep costs were still running - so it would be a suboptimal option, yes?
Oh, certainly, if the game had stayed with the subscription system, things would be different... alas... ship, sailed, sunk, long time, yes?
So, they still need to extra make profits to keep the game running; and people are just more likely to pay for new stuff then they are to pay just to have problems fixed alone... I mean, have you -ever- seen -any- game sell a "just bugfixes" DLC? Ever? I reckon, there would be an outcry, people would demand the fixes to come free of charge... so the only way they have to get the income to spend on fixing problems is to release new stuff... which comes with new problems.
Welcome to the circle of entropy!
So, "but problems" is not a valid argument, and "Fix the game first" is not a valid argument either.

The valid question is "Would a -new class- be the -right- stuff to add?" and there, well... I said my piece already. In short: "New classes = bad since only half would love it, and half would hate it; new skill lines that -every- character can get if their players want them to = good since added joy (and with it chances of people paying for it) for -everyone-!"

In my personal opinion? I think there are too many classes in ESO. I think they were a bad idea from the outset and ZOS doesn't quite know what to do with them, now. That's why we had the Psijic line in Summerset rather than a new class. The thing is? It all should've been just skill lines. All of it. That would've allowed for greater customisation and for each player to have a greater sense of the character they wanted to make.

Again, speaking personally, I'd love to see a bard skill line at some point, I think that'd be really fun. What I don't want, though, is more classes.

I think classes are good but a one handed weapon line where all abilities had magicka and stamina morphs. Some abilities could have a two stage function rather thancast time. First stage animation would include using your off hand to charge your weapon and then for the second stafe you activate the abilities again to deal damage. There could be a cool down like a crystal frags proc forcing you to choose carefully when to activate and use the ability.
