Just out of curiosity... How many crowns are they sliding you on the side? I really gotta know. Because, the way you defend this game's flaws, and ZOS (from what I've seen) is incredible.

As much as the amount of gold coins competing MMO companies are sliding you on the side to stir up overblown discontent here? ;)

No, I would not buy another ZOS title.
This game has amazing potential, but I truly don't think it will ever be completely realized with the current dev team. It seems it's always one step forward, three steps back.

This is where I stand. When I look at the game as it stands today, it has made great progress since 2014, but I feel like they got lucky*. I question whether they can keep it up with ESO, let alone do it with a second game.

Don't get me wrong, I am glad they got the game to where it is. Whatever they did, they started a great game and one that I could stay with for a long time. I am ESO Plus because the game itself is worth every penny of it. I just can't see how they got here.* That makes me very nervous. And, it drives me a little nuts.

*Edit: And to be clear, I mean that I can't see how they managed to successfully assemble and deliver the game, not that the writing, art, music, audio, etc are all some sort of accident.

Yeah ESO makes me grumble sometimes, but in the end, best PvP experience I've ever had with a game in a genre that I love. You no votes aren't being honest.

Some of us still play for one simple reason....lack of better options. We have played many others, spent our time there, and are done. Some of us are here simply killing time until a better option is released. When that happens, I think you'll see the impact.

I've enjoyed playing ESO, but with a lot of frustration. More than any other MMO, and I started playing MMOs back in March of 1999 when the original Everquest was released, and I've played quite a few of them. So please don't be arrogant enough to presume to say who's not being honest.
    So...

How then can ESO be such a disaster that, not only are you still playing it, but it's still "better" than any other MMO on the market right now?

    The truthful answer is simple.

ESO is one of the best MMO's on the market right now. However; the game has made changes that are not specifically the changes that you might have made, so you're posting out of misplaced frustration.

I'm 50 years old. I started playing MMO's 17 years ago in March of 1999 when the original Everquest was released. Even before then, I played Ultima Online for almost a year, so I guess that gives me almost 18 years of MMOing. How long have you been playing MMO's?

Damn, you're a true OG (original gamer). It always makes me smile seeing the elders enjoying themselves with games. Especially MMO's and my goodness you have quite the background/resume. Much positivity and respect to you, sir. It's men like you, which make me not feel bad for being as heavy into gaming as I am. I salute you.

ArchAge - Messed with it a little, and my buddies and I are actually contemplating going to that now.

    What else you got?

My friends and I play MMO's together. We've been playing ESO for about 5 months, and are already tired of the bugs, laggyness of the game in general, devs unable to fix bugs, inability to fix broken mechanics for years, making only male armor wireframes now because its easier to do, devs pretty much patching and balancing once per quarter or less, devs using primary focus to crank out DLCs and crown store items for sale, the list goes on and on and on. I will say that ESO has the best quest lines that I've ever played in MMO's, so kudos to them for that.

You're the very definition of white knight. No matter what happens, you'll defend it with your dying breath, and tell other players how wrong they are and how they feel, when you have not a clue, and are extremely arrogant to even presume saying such things. We've played it heavy for 5 months, and are already getting ready to move on for various reasons stated above. We played GW2 for 2 years. WoW for 6 years. The lesser titles for much less time. If another good AAA MMO had been released sooner, we'd be gone now. We unsubbed from ESO two days ago. No more money for them.

You're arrogant enough to lecture me that my (our) unhappiness is "misplaced frustration". Keep on fighting the good fight Sir Knight. They definitely need players like you.

I know lots of people who've come to literally HATE this game, and they have 8 VR16 characters as well. And yes, they're at the champion point cap. In fact, I am similar to those people. EXCEPT! I don't exactly "hate" the game. I just hate the direction it's headed in, as well as hate lots of the decisions the developers made.

Would I purchase another ZOS title? No. Absolutely not. I've been playing this game since beta days, and have played it on both PC/Mac and PS4. So yes, I'm a veteran of ESO. And it's taken me quite some time for my eyes to open, and see what what's truly going on. Give it some time, and you too will "get it". You'll understand the feelings of these numerous people who complain day in and day out about ZOS, and the decisions they make. You'll understand the complaints of unbalanced classes, and the struggle that is occurring in PVP, IF you don't understand these things already. It took me years.

So they hate this game but they sink months and months into their characters? Im not understanding this. I hate broccoli. I dont eat it cause you know I hate it. If I eat 100 pounds of it a day the entire time yelling about how bad it is do you think anyone would believe I actually hate it?

Oh and just FYI Ive been playing this game longer than you have. So I wouldnt play the "Im a veteran of the game and know more than you!" card.

    Not a chance.

Seeing how other companies can make fixes and patches within 12 hours of an issue makes me really really really really really wonder why ESO can let bugs and gamebreaking *** stay in game until the next DLC. its SO OFTEN people have to wait 3-4 months to get something fixed. That is f'ing ridiculous. Literally no other company is that bad.

Honestly, every game has bugs and issues... its code. The good thing is that over time things do get fixed. I've been in other games where nothing gets fixed and the company is super greedy. In comparison, this is a great game, and I think the team behind it are pretty good. OK some bad decisions some times, but in my experience, they are pretty reasonable.

I will play this game until it's death, but I won't be buying any other titles from these guys.

And it's just simply because of how much goes wrong. Even like XP scrolls not stacking like we were told, so imagine how many people paid crowns for ten only for them to not work. I would bet that those people won't get their scrolls back even tho they were lied to.

There are too many little things wrong here. I still love the game however.

Id buy another ZOS game in a heartbeat I really like the game. I take a ton of grief for it on the official forums because this is a tad of a cesspool most of the good players avoid. So, because I've been very happy with this game, and have none of the criticisms that you have, I'm a "White Knight"? BTW; your age is irrelevant to this discussion. I myself am 40 this year, and have been playing MMO's for just as long as you have. Hell, I've been "Gaming" since 1985 when I started with the Atari 2600 and the Commodore 64.

Your arrogance is only exceeded by your ignorance. "Oh, no!!! Someone doesn't agree with me and thinks ESO is good!!! We must destroy the heretic!!!!!"

I cut my teeth in this genre with Ultima Online, then EverQuest, then:

Rift - played it Played it. Still do.
Dark Age of Camelot - Played it. Played it.
FFXIV - Dont like the franchise Love the franchise, but boring pretty quickly.
ARR - Not sure what that is. It stands for A Realm Reborn, signifying the complete rebuilding of FFXIV.
LotRO - Played it, but really didnt like the LOTR atmosphere Still play and love this game, I'm a Tolkien kid at heart, always will be. I even carry a bit of LotRO into my Elder Scrolls in that in my RP, my Elves are immortal just like in the world of Middle-Earth.
SWTOR - Played it Played it.
GW2 - Played it, was disappointed with the expansion Still play it.
Everquest - played it for 6 years Played for five, but it was some of the best time I've ever spent in an MMO.
WoW - Played it Played it until Cataclysm. Lost interest after that.
TERA - Played it Haven't tried this one.
BDO - Not interested No interest whatsoever.
ArchAge - Messed with it a little, and my buddies and I are actually contemplating going to that now.
Beta tested it. Played a bit after launch, but lost interest.

I never said you thought ESO was the best MMO on the market right now. I said that.

What I did say; was that there are a multitude of other AAA MMO's on the market right now. But yet you're still here and still play, even with all of those other options. So if those statements are true (and they are by your own admissions), then ESO simply cannot be as much of a disaster as you and the other detractors make the game out to be.

    By your own words:
Some of us are here simply killing time until a better option is released.
So ESO must be better than any of the other options amongst MMO's currently running if this is the view you put forth.

One step forward, three steps back? Opinion. There are quite a few people who would disagree with you, but I guess that if they do, they're a "White Knight" simply because they don't share your... disappointment with the current state of the game.

While I don't like the single-mesh for armor regardless of character sex either, this doesn't happen to be an issue for me as I only have one female character, and she wears Light Armor anyway, so this affects her none. Which is also why I haven't commented on the threads about said mesh change. It doesn't affect me. I don't like it, but it's of no consequence.

So, if you'd like; I can go to the stable of the Ivory Tower and get your High Horse ready for you m'Lord. Just let me know.

As for "waiting for a better title to come along", the calendar of future MMO's is pretty bleak right now. Better move on to one of those games above, or find other reasons to fall back in love with ESO. Because there's nothing else coming down the pipe for a bit.

    Your move.

This game has amazing potential, but I truly don't think it will ever be completely realized with the current dev team. It seems it's always one step forward, three steps back. When another "successful" MMO is released, we'll see where the rubber meets the road.

I've enjoyed playing ESO, but with a lot of frustration. More than any other MMO, and I started playing MMOs back in March of 1999 when the original Everquest was released, and I've played quite a few of them. So please don't be arrogant enough to presume to say who's not being honest.
    So...

RIFT, FFXIV: ARR, LotRO, SWtOR, GW2... none of those are better options than ESO?

    Rift - played it
Dark Age of Camelot - Played it
FFXIV - Dont like the franchise
ARR - Not sure what that is.
LotRO - Played it, but really didnt like the LOTR atmosphere

You keep saying that I think ESO is the best MMO on the market right now, but I've said no such thing.

    Don't give up on Gaming.

It's an expensive hobby, but one that offers so much in entertainment... If you love it as much as I have (and those who've been doing it for over 30 years like myself and @Villious have), then it is something that you'll enjoy for decades.

    Never stop Gaming.

Dude, I don't understand what's so hard for you to understand. We've played the titles listed above. We either got bored with them, they ran their course, or we didn't like them. We're here playing ESO because it's a decent game, but with all the things that bug us about the way the dev team does things, we'll probably be moving along in the very near future. Probably back to one of the titles above. If another decent AAA title was released tomorrow, we'd be gone now. WE DO NOT THINK ESO IS THE "BEST" MMO OUT THERE RIGHT NOW, WE'RE JUST BOARD WITH ALL THE OTHERS. So 'bored with others' does not equal 'best MMO out there'. That's why we're here for now. That's it in a nutshell. It's not a hard concept to wrap your head around. And I do agree with you that the immediate future of MMOs is pretty bleak right now. Also I'll agree with your sentiment that Everquest was some of the best times I've ever had in an MMO.

My biggest argument with you is, you arrogant to the point that you are telling other players that what they are feeling is wrong, as if you're an MMO forum psychiatrist. We know how we feel, and why we feel it. Maybe white knight was the wrong word. I guess narcissistic was the word I'm looking for. It's ironic that you're attacking me since I don't agree with you. You think my view, and others like me (which their are MANY on this forum) are wrong and have no validity. How hypocritical.

This game has lot of things going for it, but IN MY OPINION (as many, many others on this forum) the dev team makes a lot of mistakes, and questionable decisions in so many areas. Maybe because they are a fledgling MMO design team, and they have money hungry bosses....who knows. You don't have to agree with that, and it's fine. As far as I'm concerned, we'll just agree to disagree, and move on. Happy hunting!

I can handle being labeled as a narcissist.

Thank you for retracting the "White Knight" name calling. I myslef apologize for calling you arrogant to the point of ignorance. That was outside of my character to do, so I apologize for it.

I can agree to disagree. Aside from the Female meshes on the new armor sets (which is apparently not intended and @ZOS_JessicaFolsom has already mentioned that a fix is being worked on), I rather like the direction that the game is going. I agree with you that ESO has some of the best Quests and Quest-structure of any MMO that I've played in a while, I am worried that the three-month release schedule is going to "burn out" the Devs.

But time will tell on that front. Hopefully (especially with so much Tamrielic landmass left to explore, we'll get a steady release of new areas for gentlemen like us to crawl over.

But I am sorry to hear that you and your mates are getting bored with the game. As you made mention (and this is not a stab at words you've authored), I don't find many issues with this game at all.

Indeed, since I got it on my PC two years ago (and again on my Xbox One months ago) I have really not played anything else. It has kept me "hooked and addicted" like the MMO's of this genre's "glory days" did in the past, and my wife and I can't wait to log in every night.

That said, I like to think I can still be objective about what is going on with this game, though sometimes I fail. I am, after all, mostly Human.

But I appreciate the issues that you are bringing up. Being able to voice those concerns only helps to make the game better over all.

So good luck to you and your mates. I hope that there's something in ESO's near future that reverses the boredom you're beginning to feel with the game.

Yes, there are worse gaming companies, but what difference does this make? Does a company get a pass because it is not the worst of the worst?

And, worth saying: I love the game. The world design, music, sound effects, and writing are among the best out there. The people who did the Wrothgar and Upper Craglorn exterior zone art and construction need raises. Quite simply, it is a fun and engaging game that looks good while playing it. It is the studio that I don't have faith in. If we could get the studio to reliably deliver all the wonderful stuff that the developers are capable of doing, I would be thrilled beyond my ability to contain it all. I would have shrines to the Almighty ZOS strategically placed all over my house for easy access. I would rename my kids after ZOS. My pets would be required to wear ZOS clothing. I would paint ZOS in big white letters on the roof of my house.

I just don't think that I will be needing to do all that, which will probably be a good thing for my marriage.

No, I would not buy another ZOS title.

So let me get this straight, you're on the forums of a game, making comments...it's been out for two years now, you're still playing.

but yet you hate the company so much that built this game you'll NEVER buy another game from them again.

    *eye roll

Yeah ESO makes me grumble sometimes, but in the end, best PvP experience I've ever had with a game in a genre that I love. You no votes aren't being honest.

Some of us still play for one simple reason....lack of better options. We have played many others, spent our time there, and are done. Some of us are here simply killing time until a better option is released. When that happens, I think you'll see the impact.

    Rift - played it
Dark Age of Camelot - Played it
FFXIV - Dont like the franchise
ARR - Not sure what that is.
LotRO - Played it, but really didnt like the LOTR atmosphere
    SWTOR - Played it
GW2 - Played it, was disappointed with the expansion
Everquest - played it for 6 years
    WoW - Played it
    TERA - Played it
    BDO - Not interested

You keep saying that I think ESO is the best MMO on the market right now, but I've said no such thing.

I've heard mixed, but generally positive things about Black Desert Online. I play ESO because I love the Elder Scrolls lore, but I agree with most here that ZOS has done a very poor job overall. BDO doesn't have the ES lore, but by all accounts it's a far better MMO. It might be what you're looking for.
