Do you feel bad for the players that can no longer play ESO because of DX11?

This just isn't right. How can ZOS do this to those who have been playing ESO with DX10/DX9 video cards?

TESO needs a wardrobe system badly. Something similar to WoW's tmog system would make this game one of the best mmorpg out there!

I do feel very sorry for them.

However, technology changes and upgrades. PC gaming requires hardware upgrades every couple of years. It can be an expensive hobby.

Games need to change over time and not stay completely stagnant from whenever their release date was. I like evolving games, period. To evolve games developers need to take advantage of new hardware and software.

It sucks for those players, but it would suck even worse if the game never evolved with tech. So no, I do not feel sorry for them.

There is no way they should have released this DLC in this state. Only in the MMO industry can you get away with such a travesty.

I feel bad, but at the same time it is a major reason I play on the console.

Yes I don't get the new shiny, but I don't have to worry about my rig not handling something and having to reconfigure my entire setup around a piece of software.

A game on a console is going to use the same hardware regardless of the developers intentions.

And console is a perfect choice for you. I choose to play the game and have it look MUCH better on a PC and at a low cost. It's not like ZoS is using a technology that was released in 2015. DirectX 11 was release A LONG time ago and ESO isn't the only piece of software that requires it.

Sort of. I understand their concern, especially if they haven't seen the announcements that were made in advance. However, I fully support the decision to enhance the game as it evolves and the box does make it clear that "system requirements are subject to change over time". I cannot believe that there are PC gamers who don't understand that and accept it.

Console gamers are claiming that it's an advantage to play on console because the hardware and inbuilt software are fixed and they're not therefore susceptible to these issues, but the advantage that PC gamers have is that they can upgrade the individual components piecemeal without having to ditch the whole machine in order to get the next one, and moreover they can benefit from enhancements to the game through doing so.

Not to mention PCs provide much superior quality and functionality.

But I agree with Zos's move. They understood they were working to improve the game at a cost of some player base and revenue. It also probably means they currently have a strong player base in the game.

Many of the players who cannot play after today's changes will get new PCs though many cannot.

Well of course - ZOS made all kinds of changes to gameplay in previous updates to attract and cater to casual players (who tend not to all have the latest high end gaming rigs) and then after taking their money, turned around and locked them out of the game completely with this update. That sucks.

GTX 750Ti cards are pretty cheap low end cards and DX11.2+ compatible. Although for DX12 you would probably need an OS, Motherboard, CPU upgrades as well and at that point might as well build a new PC..

Direct X 11 was released in 2009, so X 10 kinda old technology actually. Direct 12 is out now so DX 11 will be next on the chopping block , well maybe a few years down the road...maybe.

yeah this is a little b.s. for people who subbed for months, and or bought into DLC.

I get you have to ugprade the game, but at a cost of the consumers who've already paid a substantial amount of money it is a little bit of a kick in the nuts to those people.

I stick with console because I don't feel like 'upgrading' every 3-6 months, I prefer to do it every 5-10 years when a new console is released.

I played this on PC for 5 months, and was not impressed with the PVP Lag, the grouping or lack there of, and the community as a whole was just not as engaging or as helpful as Xbox has been. Sure the graphics are better, and you got Mod's, but honestly a game like this Im more interested in the size/character of the community Im going to be playing with. Besides the PTS, and first time playing ESO, PC was a disappointment for me.

Not really. I play on Console as well as PC, but PC's need to be upgraded ever so rarely. This is one of those rare times where the developer/publisher decided that it's time to move up on the tech list.

As for my Xbox One, since it's a Microsoft system, any upgrades/changes to DX are done automatically and for free (relatively), so I don't really have to worry about it much on my Xbox. DX11, 12, 13, DX143 whatever, my Xbox will update to the newest/highest DX software whenever Microsoft deems it necessary.

But for this change on my PC, I'm stopping off to get a new card tonight anyway, so that problem will be fixed a little bit after I get home tonight. That's just part of playing on the PC.

Well it doesn't have to devolve into console vs pc here, I was just stating why I personally chose to play on console.

I also have a beast of a rig that streams and plays eso on ultra @ 70FPS.

That's not the point lol I choose to play my PS4 and I still feel bad for people that are forced into spending money they don't have or not playing a game they love is all.

They hopefully will keep support for dx9, dx10, dx11 they should and need to do this not because of performance but because of the fact most players possibly don't have machines that are able to run dx11. Which in my opinion dx11 should be optional.

Zos announced over a yesr ago about the direct x 11 change. I realise not everyone can afford new gaming stuff in a one year timeframe but its not like you havent had the opportunity to prepare.

Im glad they want their game to grow with new technology. It shows they are interested in creating a game that will be worth my investment of time.

I do but it's hardly new, must be some old hardware floating around. Aion ran in two different dx versions when it had an update ages ago when I played, maybe that wasn't viable here.
