I used to play Phantasy Star: Universe on my PS2. Here's hoping that ESO lasts more years than that one did.

I am optmistic. Will be nice to play the game without the hassle of subscription & etc.

Short answer is DKs likely won't be seeing a ton of changes before we go live; this class is still quite powerful (as it should be being a tank), even after some of the adjustments we've made to other classes and abilities.

DK IS NOT JUST A TANK CLASS. #PLAYTHEWAYYOUWANT

Outside of the dislikes my biggest fear is what the community will turn into. To me it begins with animosity between subs and non-subs.

I'll be perfectly honest in SWTOR's freemium model, or whatever the heck we're calling it today, I was a subscriber but I did not help nor interact with non-subscribers. Now that could be because how the non-subscribers consistently spammed chat asking for stuff or to be carried through instances.

That is inherently part of the problem. Just from my experiences I've found subscribers do not enjoy carrying non-subscribers.

I'll be making sure I'm nowhere near the starter zones on any of my 8 characters.

They wont get another dime from me. Ill play whatever they offer for free but I refuse to pay a sub for a game that offers advantages on a cash store. I know right NOW they claim there are no advantage items being sold. Watch how quickly that changes once they find out how much they can make off selling end game gear and stat bonuses on the store.

that's fine. The shop items offer no advantage.

this sounds to be a mix between Rift and SWTOR. Rift is 100% free, SWTOR is free to a point. You have to sub to get unlimited access to everything. If all the shop has is like vanity mounts and pets and different colors for dye who cares.

yes WoW is the best community, subs don't = good community as WoW is a toxic waste land

Except for ESO had the best MMO community since I played SWG.

look what happened to SWG :P

I am extremely disappointed. I was quite delighted all the time that ESO held to the subscription model. Now, the degeneration of an excellent game is almost assured.

I hope that we can still change their minds to avoid this becoming yet another pathetic pay-to-win exercise.

Remember history, folks. Every time a game goes pay-to-win, it quickly degenerates into an unpleasant community and gaming experience, and more often than not it shuts down within a year. Remember the demise of City of Heroes. I don't know if I will retain any connection to this game once it goes pay-to-win, but I'm quite certain that it will no longer live up to the high standards that I've come to expect from Bethesda.

Thank you for all of the hard work and love you've put into this game so far. But with this decision... shame on you.

I'm very disappointed in ZoS, but I think they know that many of us are. You have to really convince me and other players with bad experiences from cash shops, that this won't ruin the game. You've got a job to do ZoS, or else I'm out the door.

After a long history since OU over countless others, I call it quits with MMOs. However, this was a nice community, so cya all and have fun whatever you decide to do next.

See what you have done zenimax? people are already quitting, they are not even planning on waiting for it to go F2P, in a sense they are choosing the noble route so they can maintain their memories from back when the game was good and not have their memories clouded when it goes F2P, many of the friends I have made during my venture in ESO may now also leave so I wonder why I should stay? go ahead give me one good reason.....

Dislike especially because of the pressure the cash shop model will bring to add glitzy but lore-breaking content. There'll be pink unicorns and anime outfits before you know it.

That's not really lore-breaking, though, because Oblivion and Skyrim already have all that stuff thanks to the modding community.

    I. for one, can't wait for my Sailor Moon armor! <3

If you think that xp boosts, gold boosts etc are all they will sell you are dreaming. Look at LOTRO and SWTOR's stores. They both sell end game items including gear etc. LOTRO also claimed they would never sell anything that has an advantage. Now they sell end game wepaons, armor and the rare stat boost tomes on the store. This game will go the same way.

I suspect it won't go pay-to-win immediately (I don't personally consider the exp/research bonuses "pay-to-win", though I can see how others do). That being said, it will eventually, and it is too bad, for this always ruins games. I'm very disappointed....

I suspect that this is the future for MMOs, as electronic media in general seeks to appeal more and more to a mass market rather than a targeted segment. The tying together of PCs and Consoles is an unfortunate move for PC gamers. Everything is moving to a server-side/streaming, console, and F2P/P2W model. It's a business and it's all about the money. Hell, I've seen it even with off-line games, where games are smaller or overly-simplified (successive ES games and Xenosaga, among others), and resources for modding are increasingly being discouraged and looked down upon by large corporations like Microsoft, as they seek to transition to server-side models for all gaming.

I suspect the PC gaming community has seen its zenith. The console gaming community certainly has.

Well, this confirms what a lot of us already knew: ESO sold well, but not well enough, since it only stayed Subscription for a year before goin F2P.
    I'm hoping it won't become Pay-to-Win. F2P I can handle, P2W, not so much.
I'm a man of few words. Any questions?

My car is stuck at garage for repair.

My favorite game become B2P and I'm totally disgusted with the incoming DLC consolish that I just read in the FAQ.

I know there is much worst then this in life, but still a *** day ...

I don't see how dropping the subscription will improve the future content of this game, the futur fix on class & bug.

I'm afraid that customer service will go down pretty fast too.

I'll wait for my final judgement on this game until I see what is really the '' Tamriel Unlimited '', but there is a part of me that know that I'm lying to myself and get enough experience from sub to B2P or F2P model that never ended well ...
Consolelish...yeah we can admit it is the console's fault for a large majority of this, the console held Skyrim back with it's low end hardware and now the console is helping ruin ESO in a different manner, zenimax is spending all their time creating the console version when they could of been fixing the PC version and releasing new content sooner rather then later and now we here it is going to be Buy 2 Play or more commonly known as Free 2 Play and it seems content will defiantly slow down now, I would loath Zenimax if ESO failed because of one stupid decision, I used to think they were good but now I am defiantly reconsidering that decision.

I wonder where @sharee and the others are now with their 'logic' about the removal of the 6 month subscription having absolutely nothing to do with the game going f2p/b2p and that we were all exaggerating.

I'm just really glad this wasn't a surprise when I heard it. BUT nonetheless, it disgusts me that ZOS has treated us this way as was so naive as to think people wouldn't figure out. Transparancy my ass ZOS! I really wonder what will happen to the speed and quality (which wasn't great to begin with) of the updates to come. I have a big fear of 1.6 being a final showdown and a "Here!! Have this and now shut up" kind of thing, and that after that we will see a huge decrease in the outflow of new content. And at this point I just don't have the faith anymore.

Looking forward to all the "Buy our winter consumable snack, reindeer mount and elf costume now! Limited time seasonal offer in the Crown Store!" facebook posts, announcements and nudges in the store.

The telltale here is the inclusion of Soul Gems and Potions to avoid doing ingame content or trading with other players and crafting professions (alchemy), which is indicative that this shop doesn't care about ruining or bypassing ingame content in order to make a sale. Disappointing.

I am 99% positive they went with a b2p model simply so they could sell it on the xbox one. So ya consoles stuck it to us. Also why no compensation for people like me who have paid every month? Shouldnt we get the 1500 crowns or whatever for every month we have paid a sub since launch? Yet we get nothing but a screw you from zenimax for being loyal customers.
