I know right NOW they claim there are no advantage items being sold. Watch how quickly that changes once they find out how much they can make off selling end game gear and stat bonuses on the store.

that's fine. The shop items offer no advantage.

this sounds to be a mix between Rift and SWTOR. Rift is 100% free, SWTOR is free to a point. You have to sub to get unlimited access to everything. If all the shop has is like vanity mounts and pets and different colors for dye who cares.

If you think that xp boosts, gold boosts etc are all they will sell you are dreaming. Look at LOTRO and SWTOR's stores. They both sell end game items including gear etc. LOTRO also claimed they would never sell anything that has an advantage. Now they sell end game wepaons, armor and the rare stat boost tomes on the store. This game will go the same way.

STO is also a good example. They also first claimed that they'd never go F2P and sold people lifetime-subscriptions for $300 (iirc) and then went F2P but claimed there would be no pay2win. Now you can buy the best ships in the cash store exclusively I believe (you can buy the components required for the best ships with in-game credits but someone else had to pay for them with RL cash and then sell them to you in-game so pay2win just the same).

I am one of those people who got suckered into buying a lifetime sub. I havent even loaded STO in a year or more. I have a lifetime VIP sub and still wont play it.

STO was a good game... then it went to hell with F2P/pay-to-win. I hate to see ESO do the same, but I'm not optimistic/naive enough to believe that it won't. I'll hang around probably until it slides down that inevitable slope, but then I'm gone.

In fact i would rather have good small population sustainable game with good community like EVE rather than generalised f2p MMO which i fear this will become.

Still not totally surprised as i fear that game suffered from too much MMO crap added to potential sandbox TES MMORPG.

Looking forward to all the "Buy our winter consumable snack, reindeer mount and elf costume now! Limited time seasonal offer in the Crown Store!" facebook posts, announcements and nudges in the store.

The telltale here is the inclusion of Soul Gems and Potions to avoid doing ingame content or trading with other players and crafting professions (alchemy), which is indicative that this shop doesn't care about ruining or bypassing ingame content in order to make a sale. Disappointing.

More like "Buy the Emperor's Treasure Pack" and have a chance to get said mount.

Get ready for in-game treasure chests to require either the standard lock-pick, OR you can buy silver lock-picks, gold lock-picks or platinum lock-picks in the store to increase your chances at getting rare items!!!!!!! Only 100 crowns for 5, or 1000 crowns for 60!!!

The "Convenience Items" category can mean anything under the sun and moon and it will get pushed to the limit.

I seriously hope I am wrong. But history suggest I will unfortunately be right.

They cannot make money without having pay to win items in the store. Thats why they all eventually end up pay to win. You cant make money just selling a box and thats it. Noone is going to spend money on cosmetics. Not enough to make a profit anyways. People will pay for stuff that DOES give an advantage tho.

I don't like these changes as the game's current model was/is perfectly fine.

Unfortunately, the consoles dictated these changes. You can't make PC players pay a sub fee and then either make console players pay no sub fees or make them pay two sub fees (XBox Live/PS Plus and the ESO sub).

The future of this game is certainly bleak. I'm already on the hook for sub fees that will take me into May so I will experience almost two months of the new model. The cash shop with its potions and soul gems portends storms on the horizons as time invested in the game is thrown out the window in favor of anyone willing to pay ZOS to be an instant winner.

Please choose which one is the closest to your feelings. Curiosity here. Personally, I like the way the game was and am fearful of any changes B2P might bring. P2P always guarantees that anyone playing is at the same advantage as the rest. In P2P, time commitment, skill, and in-game choices are the only factors separating players.

I am curious as to what everyone else thinks, because there are other sides to everything.

Unsubbed as promised and bye bye to ESO just like GW2 and Rift fail games. You had a chance to make it great and I even offered to pay 2x per mo to keep the bads out but you instead chose to sell out for a quick buck.

Utter fail ESO, I should have known as soon as you said the game would be on CONSOLE that it would fail utterly.

You can't please kiddies and make a serious game.

Oh and thanks for charging me hundreds of dollars to do your beta testing for you for a year.

When ESO's sub model came out, my husband and I were really ticked off, we were'nt MMO players, not accustomed to having to pay per month for a game. We had been waiting for this game to come out for so long, to finally play Elder Scrolls together.. and then to find out we had to pay, really grated on the nerves.

But then, we played the Beta.

Instantly hooked, with how beautiful the game was, with mechanics, the gameplay was amazing and we quickly changed our minds. YES! We will PAY to play this game because, damn, its good stuff.

Since then we have paid 2 subs every month, even got our kids to play with us for a couple months, so at one time 4 subs, plus 4 copies of the game. And it was worth it, no FTP crowd, no bulshyt.

Now... well i don't know. We love this game. Hell we know this community loves this game, hence the outrage going on right now. Its not because we just dont like it... its because we are afraid. Afraid our favorite game is gonna go to absolute SHYTT because of this model, this model that attracts worthless players, this model that has been the downfall of others who have chosen this path.

I wont say Im unsubbing, I wont be quite so rash. However, as you can see ZOS, your community of paying subscribers, are not happy about this. And this could very well be the downfall of our favorite thing. *crosses fingers* No one wants that.

Why do people put so much attention onto the bill for the experience being generated? when the game is no longer fun leave its easy as that, to me the reality is simple, no monies being generated to ZOS, no ESO period. If the B2P/P2P model works i am on board if it makes the game unbalanced through play to win options, then i will leave or spend more money either way i still like my time in game.

Consolelish...yeah we can admit it is the console's fault for a large majority of this, the console held Skyrim back with it's low end hardware and now the console is helping ruin ESO in a different manner, zenimax is spending all their time creating the console version when they could of been fixing the PC version and now we here it is going to be Buy 2 Play or more commonly known as Free 2 Play.

I am 99% positive they went with a b2p model simply so they could sell it on the xbox one. So ya consoles stuck it to us. Also why no compensation for people like me who have paid every month? Shouldnt we get the 1500 crowns or whatever for every month we have paid a sub since launch? Yet we get nothing but a screw you from zenimax for being loyal customers.

From what the FAQ said, we are getting backdated crowns as if it had existed since launch

This just became, "Just another MMORPG." As Eric Burns once said, "Same as it ever was."

EDIT: Let me put this in perspective - at the time I voted (including my vote) 66 people voted "dislike" and only 7 voted "like". That is almost 10 times the number disapproving over approving and these are your customers speaking. That doesn't matter. There is a bigger issue here and it is global to all game producers that I won't mention here because I know it will be removed. Suffice to say, it is not a coincidence that the B2P format would come out at the same time as the console roll out.

When the game first launched always said it would be F2P/B2P within a year. MMO's nowadays cant maintain a sub based game, it's just not the norm any more, they had to hit the ground running and ESO didn't. I'll stick around as I enjoy the game (I'm a pve guy), plus I was always going to jump to console when it released as that's where my friends are going to play on.

My only reservation is from a content aspect. I'll continue my sub fee as the rewards are too OP compared to not subbing but I hope they keep up with updates although I imagine we will go to maybe every 3/4 months between updates once consoles launch hits
