Played the game since BETA, january something. Payed a subscription because I like games with subcriptions. Want something ingame? Play as long and hard till you get it. That's what sub is to me.
ZOS insisted that P2P was the only way for their game. I agreed, personaly.
Now they're going B2P with cash shop. Renting DLCs for 15 a month only to pay for them again if I ever consider going no sub. Benefits for further subbing seem like a joke to me. Soon F2P and P2W?

I'm new to ESO, bought the game last week, so its not going to effect me that way, I just have to look at the cost.

Yep, me too. Another thing this model does to games is completely changes the atmosphere. It will now seem like a cheap carnival rather than an epic adventure.
If you had dreams of possibly crafting cool stuff in the future like clothing or other items - that's gone now. You'll have to spend crowns to get them.
Zenimax gave in to greed and passed off creativity to board room ideas. It's just a complete let down.

My two accounts and my friend's are already unsubbed and we've started multiple annual subscriptions to our alternate game.

We bought into the vision of this game and stuck with it though all the bugs and problems and bad reviews over the last year. We stuck by you ZoS through the hard times - supporting you with our time and our money. Some of us (not me) even defended you endlessly these last few weeks when the rumour mill was practically on fire.
We supported you and the vision you told us you had for the game.
Then yesterday you turned that all on its head and stuck a knife in our backs while telling us we asked for the knife all along.
The trust is gone and you are going to work hard to get some of it back.

This is something people don't seem to get when they are fine with "just cosmetic stuff" in the cash shop. Character appearance is an incredibly huge incentive in an RPG. If you can circumvent playing the game to get the style, motif or dye you want by paying money in the cash shop, there is no reason for you to play the game at that point. It totally changes the dynamics of the game. As you said, it will be a cheap carnival.
Every time somebody buys cosmetic stuff from the cash shop, that's instant money for ZOS, and less time played on their servers. Simple.Alandrol Sul: He's making another Numidium?!?
