Help! We need more guild management tools!

I have been thinking more about how we could make guilds easier to manage and more attractive to players. How about introducing some kind of guild participation and recognition system? Maybe Zos could give us a system similar to the system the forum uses to encourage us to comment and participate?

This for me is very important... in another game (FFXIV) you get points give to you by your fellow members when you finish an instance. Those points allow you to get special gear.

I wouldnt care much for the gear or rewards from pugs, but it could be the basis for a system where guild leaders could assign goals like material gathering or donations or aquiring certain pieces of equipement, although this one could be tricky due to the need to code every item in the game for a guild management tool.

Anyway, these kind of incentives to participate in guild goals would be excellent to tighten communities and include all lvls in guild goals.

An example of this is Columbine, Mountain Flower, Bugloss. Every end game character needs massive ammounts of those herbs (or better, what is made with those herbs). Even so, they are available from the moment you get on Tamriel. Having a tool that would allow newbies to provide those mats to the guild with rewards in exchange (crafted sets for example), would stimulate the flow of goods inside the guild, and depending on the guild strategy for the tool could be a win win situation. Stuff like point atributions per mat, for example: 1 point per crawler, 50 points per columbine, 100 points for pepper, 25 points per raw mat, 5 points per crafting material, 1000 points for nirncrux gem, etc etc.

While I personally don't actively use a guild bank, I can understand why the need for more options would be appreciated within guilds which don't have an application process or use teamspeak / some form of external communication regularly.

The obvious solution is having certain ranks within your guild and a potential trial period for new recruits, but I've seen this backfire as people generally suck and are willing to play nice until they're the appropriate rank and steal all your guild stuff anyway.

Having 'slots' reserved for certain ranks is a pretty happy medium and is a relatively practical solution. I'll have a proper read through the thread when I have some time and perhaps comment further, but so far most of what I've read has been good suggestions.

    How about taxation?
I would like to see guild taxes added.
    For example:
1% Tax - Guild takes 1% of your gold income from: quests and monster drops and has it stored in Guild Bank.
Taxation rates could be adjustable from 0% to 20%
That way guild gets money for pvp tools, potions, merchants and misc. stuff.

Don't like the tax? Don't join a guild with tax.

The guild management tools really are quite primitive. Zeni has designed a game for adults, and somehow doesn't seem responsive to an adult community that is used to using many different types of collaboration tools, both free on the internet and paid in the workplace. There should be more allowance for the types of interactions we use on a day to day basis without the need to <alt> + <tab> and start using different tools (which increases the chance of the game crashing). There should also be mechanisms to make each guild a community, and not completely dependent on the guild master (one person) to do everything to run the community.

A list of features I would like to see:
    • Segmented bank storage - The ability to manage access to the bank in tiers. You can have 500 spots open to everyone, make 450 slots open to everyone and 50 slots open to officers (for raffle prize storage), etc.
    • A guild calendar to identify events a guild may want to host (Fri night is PvP night, Tues night is Dungeon night, etc)
    • A Guild mailbox - a mailbox for the guild that can be accessed by officers so the guild master isn't the only one stuck with managing guild business
    • More "notification" space, or a tabbed space to put pages of text. This allows you to easily list the guild rules, primary points of contact for issues, raffle prizes, or other news, and makes it unnecessary to mail updates to all the guildies.
    • More personal text space - The note feature is very primitive, there should be a place where guild members can post information about themselves. They could post their regular hours of play, their crafting specialties, list their characters, their availability for group events, even personal information such as A\S\L or their email address (if they choose).
    • Guild succession - Either a nomination or voting system (or both) to identify a new guild master should the guild master be unavailable for an extended period of time.
    • Voice chat would be nice, it would save some guild master TS fees.

I'm sure others could add to this list. My personal pet peeve with guilds are the continuity issues and the lack of collaboration in running guild business. People leave this game all the time (they take vacations, or they play other games for a while), and the lack of collaboration tools used for running the guild ends up hurting the communities guilds are meant to build.

I can only echo things that have already been stated in this thread, as I agree wholeheartedly with a lot of it.

The lack of guild management tools in this game is sorely felt. It's a common complaint amongst the leaders and officers of some of the guilds of which I'm a member. Almost every other large MMO I've played has better guild management tools. In a game so heavily focused on RP elements and fostering community (at least, that's the intention, if not the actuality), it makes so little sense for guild leaders to not have access to the tools they need to be effective leaders and run a tight ship.

It goes beyond the guild bank, but that is one consequence of a shoddy system. I see no reason why guild bank permissions cannot be tied to guild rank, with options set by the guild leader. Either that, or separate tabs within the guild bank tied to guild rank. For example, tab 1 is for common crafting mats and armor, and available to everyone. Tab 4 is for purple/gold stuff, upgrade mats, etc, and only available for withdrawal to guild officers. The two tabs between would be used in the same manner. And all of this would be set by the guild leader.

It can only help. And I apologize if that has already been mentioned, as I haven't yet read through the thread in its entirety.

What we really need, more than anything else, to help a guild hold together is an alliance free zone.

Somewhere where every single member of a guild can get together in the same place to socialise, trade, dance etc.

It is just weird that I have guildmates I will never be able to meet unless it is across the field of battle.

My first loyalty is to my guild - not to my alliance. I'm sure plenty of other players feel the same. We have 'faction' pride - in those 'factions' we create and manage and enjoy - our guilds. The aliance pride you forced upon us means very little - never has.

So let us have one neutral area we can all go to to meet. In the context of the storyline you know this makes the most sense.

Well, for the record, he speaks for me too!

Yes, Cyrodiil is an option but not a great one. Gankers, long travel times, etc.

Even a guild instance of something like Eyevea, that place where you zap the chickens, or the Manor or Revelry (Coldharbour) would be awesome. It would be so cool to physically get our cross-faction players into the same place for our weekly events.

Would love to see Guild Halls or Cities down the road but maybe something such as the examples above would be quicker/easier to do.

I get this isn't a huge priority for most, but we all have our pet features we'd love to see happen. No reason to be negative about it.

I'm not entirely opposed to this idea, but I think it may be problematic to implement.

Does the tax only get taken away when you get enough gold in one shot to pay at least 1 gold to the guild (ie. if the rate is set at 1% does it only get taken if you get 100 gold or more in a single drop / quest), or does it have to keep track of how much gold you've received, and take the tax whenever the fractional amount finally adds up to at least 1 gold?

If it's the latter, then that would require significantly more effort to develop and implement.

Should it differentiate between gold collected from drops and earned through quests and gold received for selling items, or gold received in the mail from friends?

If so that's additional logic to add in to the system. If not, then you're getting taxed twice on items you sell in the guild store.

And of course, if each guild can set a tax rate up to 20% then if you're in 5 guilds you could end up with 100% of your gold going to the guilds (although you can get around that by dropping one or more of the guilds).

I agree with the need of better guild management options. But sadly, I don't see ZOS investing time in such enhancements, for the time being at least... (though, I'd love to be proved wrong with that :))

And I hope that changes in the future, maybe after the console release the UI guys can/will get their attention turned back to the ugly PC's interface again, and solve some of the usability issues that have been reported since launch.

Guild Halls, Pay to use, limited Slots. That's how it was effectively done in Eve with Stations performing as the Guild Halls. There are lots of ways to do it I think.

In addition, it has occurred to me, for the umpteenth time, that the Guild Tools should also have a Guild Listing for players to peruse and apply to, because, while I'm not big on company, I have seen a lack of in-game means to ask to join a Guild.

What I'd like to see is actually being able to choose one "main guild" out of your five (optional), and show it in a guild tag next to your character name, and perhaps in Trial leaderboards as well (e.g. if over 75% of group members are representing a certain guild, that guild's tag would show on the leaderboard)

Also, I believe it'd add a lot of depth to the whole system if there was guild progression like in other MMOs.

    E.g.

I hate been in guild and I cannot withdrew things I need. So id o not give back as all because its unfair if you join a guild and you must donate with out getting back.
As most members I belong to 5 guilds. Only 2 guilds that I belong to as soon as I joined gave me access to withdrawing items I need. The rest is oh if you do this or that. Those other 3 guilds get nothing/nada/niente from me.

Please that is wrong. if you belong to guild one should have access to items. I am not saying access to the gold.

So I say the tools for Guilds should be more varied. so that member can withdraw items from the bank, with out restrictions. and if you going to rob a guild then your account name should be shamed amongst guilds so that those who invite will know that this person cannot be trusted. the name must pop up on a shame list. then it becomes up to guild boss to invite or not.

I am sure some version of this has been suggested in the 4 pages so far, so count this as a vote for similar or identical proposals, but as for banks/withdrawals, simply have both the rank system and a time limit.

Low Rank = Limited # of items on a longer timer, must wait so long to withdraw or deposit again.

Mid Lower Rank = Larger but still limited # of items on a longer timer, must wait so long to withdraw or deposit again.

Mid Rank = Same item limit as last rank but a shorter timer.

Mid High Rank = Larger item limit, same timer as last rank.

High Rank = No item limit, no timer.

Of course, this wouldn't be fixed by ZOS, rather there would be a tool to set a particular rank to be limited to X items every Y hours. The Guild Leader would actually create the above scenario with said tool.

How would you feel about collating all the suggestions, and keeping a running tally of unique suggestions on the original post (first page)? This would allow respondents to quote the suggestions, and sort them by the ones they like and the ones they don't. In turn, this would provide poll-like feedback that would allow Zeni to prioritize RFEs (requests for enhancement).

I haven't read this entire thread sorry a lot here and I am a busy person. I agree that the system needs improvement and I have seen some well thought out ideas. Hopefully ZOS takes heed and combines them with whatever ideas they have. Pretty much it boils down to more choices/control, better communication tools for members and officers to streamline withdrawal. Also you need it to fit many styles of guilds from trade to casual as well as not interfere or take away from the function of the guild store. Which needs adjusted as well but deserves its own thread to allow people to post thoughts on its improvement.

Tbh I dont have any special and great idea to change the guild bank system very effectively. But so far as I know the actual system always leads into two different ways (like many ppl before said it in this thread): the officers have to manage the wishes of the members (even if its just one crafting stone or sth else) or you just cant sleep very well cause you are afraid your guild bank will be empty the next day (unfortunately I heard about such an issue some time ago from another guild which was "robbed").

But its a fact that the ingame-guild-system sometimes feels like just a list with players so you knwo you are in the same group to write in a common chat (cause there is no common chat with your friendlist). Implementing the guild tabards was a relly nice step to do something to make guilds more attractive. But beside this there is no much guild management. The main page isnt just more than a writing space and the history just lets you know who left or got in or just made some transactions. There are no "more" and no "funny things" like statistics or raid groups or just some managing tools including nice banking tools...

I agree that the Guild Bank should be controlled as the Guild sees fit, so long as one person isn't allowed to clean it out and skip.

The biggest problem with Guilds in ESO is the plurality of it all. How many are members that search each guilds bank/store solely to gain items to sell at another guilds store. No Loyalty. I'm too used to 1 guild at a time. You show loyalty to your guild and gain the benefits of membership. If the guild doesn't reward your service, you look till you find one that does. But with 5 guilds to spread your time thru, which one will have "Your" loyalty, and which ones are just for shopping?
