Should healing be allowed in duelling?

Like in dark souls or bloodborn, healing yourself is not polite in PVP.

In my opinion, healer and tanks shouldn't be duelling, only DPS allowed for skills and damage competition, healing yourself back up just means a reset of the fight.

I play as a healer, so my build is high mag regen with low DPS. Did 2 duels yesterday that just ends nowhere after a long fight, cos I just heal myself back up every time, so what's the point? I can't win cos low damage done, opponent can't win cos I'm a sustained healer. Lol.

External healing is forbidden, so I'm left to assume you mean in a duel healing yourself? In that case I have four words.

Only if you initiated the duel. Your duel your rules. If you accepted from someone else you must wait until they tell you the rules before doing anything. If they don't explain and just attack you then you must use no skills as the rules are clearly set to this.

This post made me smile. I commend you for asking such a question, but even in dark souls you were allowed to heal yourself if it was due to gear or abilities. You just couldn't use an estus flask; which would be the equivalent of popping a potion, and good luck controlling that.

Healing is allowed, but some will request that neither side use burst heals (Breath of Life, Rally, Healing Ward, etc.) to ensure that the fight doesn't stagnate.

lol what the hell is this here? ;)

maybe we should add some rules which disallows other classes to use their abilities because we simply don't like it while that class has to rely on that skill to manage anything at all? ;)

so we have now have to come up with some weird pve dueling rules?

I'm not a dueler, and this is just my opinion.

I think duelers, should be able to use what ever skills they have available. Cloaking, healing, WW, heals, or what every else they choose to use. Unless there is a dueling event that has special rules, but if I use cloak and it is not allowed, then I should be able to pick a skill that my opponent is not allowed to use.

I would say that self healing should definately be maintained in our arsenal for duels. Healer builds for instance can't do as much damage as other builds and generally do not have a large health pool. As a healer myself its already touch and go if I win or not, even against lower levels and especially against stamina builds. Removing our self heals would make it impossible for templars and other healers to stand up in a fight against players with much more damage and much larger health bars. It's all about balance.

Anyone who can fully heal themselves is a very good healer. Must have a large magicka pool, good regen and champion points in blessed. But to do this the player will have to wear light armour so is very squishy and will have mediocre damage which balances the duels. So even if you can heal to full health, against a good damage dealer, that health will disappear in seconds unless the player is good and wears their opponents resources down before going in for the kill. Taking away a healers abilty to heal In a duel is basically providing the dps hogs with an easy free meal. Not fair at all in my book.

Thanks :) I've tried that build once. Result was zero damage capabilities. But I may have done it wrong. I tend to swap out my healers gear depending on what he's doing. For groups I use all light armour to maximise heals and damage, for duels I put on some heavy armour for longevity which reduces my damage and heals. Still playing around with it though. Either way my heals define my style of combat so I should be allowed to continue using it.

That custom came about to create a fair fight. In Dark Souls, invaders cannot use Estus, so the host would refrain from it using it to keep the field mechanically even. Other healing methods were significantly slower (easily interrupted) so healing is a rarity in duels.

This tradition has carried over into subsequent games and has been refined to "no consumable healing items." Miracles, pyromancies and weapon arts are OK to heal with during duels. The combat system of FromSoftware also places heavy emphasis on blocking and evading, making negating damage easier than reversing it (healing). ESO is quite the opposite, with damage negation often laughably weak, damage reversal being the only consistent counter to damage (health recovery, HoTs and instantaneous heals).

I do the following on my magplar.

2 unmatched heavy monster pieces with health bonus and magic enchants
    5 julianos
    3 will power
    2 Magus
    64 points into magic
5 heavy, 2 light (mostly infused)
50/50 blue CP split between thurmatauge and elemental expert

I end up with 46.1k of magic and 3.2kish Spell Power after buffs and my resistences are 25 and 23k. Add in a shield and I'm good.

You can do this on a dedicated healer and probably pull 20k breath of lifes if you felt like going that route.
