Since IC is swamped with ep during prime time on the campain I am in (EU server) (thanks for zero balancing measures, ZOS) I have now a new method for quick and cheap teleport to your HQ: go to flag and die by ep npc. You lose a few telvars but since only doing quests it should be not too much.

You don't have to lose your tel var. Just port to a Cyrodiil campaign that's not locked, then port back to Imperial City to bank it and turn in your quest.

First: I'm a tank - so I'm usually not setting out to kill anything. Picture more the cat, playing with it's toy, waiting for something interesting to happen.

Second: No one knows for sure if at first encounter someone is in Cyro or IC "just to do quests", some might be doing quests to kill time in between random player encounters.

I usually just run up to nudge them, let them know I'm there, and depending on their response to that, either engage or not.
If they start getting sweaty, sure then I'll engage. But if we end up standing there staring at each other waiting for a play; I'll usually break out the lute.

Something equally notable too; is that we're 9 pages deep and this hasn't been moved to a PVP section. B)

I aim for karma. Sometimes I'll kill someone doing a quest. Most times I won't.

If you attack me first, it's fair game.

You get AP for killing players. You also get AP for completing "Kill 20 players" repeatable quests.

True, you can't take AP away from players, but you can certainly earn it in multiple ways by killing them.

In Cyrodiil I try to avoid attacking pve questers or those fishing and don't hit unless they attack me first. A shame most others don't afford me the same courtesy.

In IC, which I only go to for events, as far as I have seen there are zero players that leave questers alone. I have even been killed there while picking up a skyshard. I just die repeatedly there no matter how hard I try to complete a single daily quest.

IC is the one part of ESO that I truly despise.

I leave other players alone in IC except in rare cases.

If I'm trying to complete a district daily and see an enemy player doing the same quest, I'll leave them alone, and will even kill any NPCs who are attacking them. If an enemy player attacks me while I'm questing, I just ignore them and try to keep doing whatever it is I'm doing, such as killing Dremora to free Imperial citizens or killing Grievous Twilights for their claws. I usually die, but sometimes I succeed in whatever I was doing before I die, and sometimes the enemy player gives up if I don't die as quickly as they'd thought I would.

Occasionally I'll fight back against the enemy player who's attacking me, but I rarely win the fight. On rare occasions I might win, or it might end in a draw, but that hasn't happened in a while.

And once in a blue moon, I will join up with other players in my alliance and go looking for enemy players to fight, but I try not to attack anyone unless it looks like they're interested in a fight.

When one goes into a PvP area, one must remember that they can become a target.

This is what drew me to ESO - a clear distinction between PvP AND PvE.

Outside Cyro, you're safe. In Cyro - not really. Perfect!
    My wishlist for ESO
    I.Skills:
    >>weapons: Polearms, Unarmed, Crossbow

    >>Sorc's Twilight - perched animation

    >>a skill line - a guild having this - to enable us to increase % gold gain for donating Ornate gear (another gold sink in order to gain more pennies - but over time it would pay off)

    II.Overland Mechanics
    >>tree climing in Grahtwood / Malabal Tor / Greenshade, etc. (with tall trees)

    >>rock climbing in Glenumbra / Rivenspire / Stonefalls, etc. (with tall peaks)

    >>new skill lines - Adventure (enable climbing, increase flora and fauna harvesting chances)

    III.CP 2.0

    IV.Geography
    >>Pyandonea - we had some quests WITH Maormer (Summerset, High Isle) - maybe we could meet them there? Poke poke, nudge nudge, wink wink, eh ZOS?

    >>Norg-Tzel - for Mara's sake, ZOS, REMOVE it from the list please!

    V.Other
(the ideas are also inspired by other Forum Users' posts)

It's fine that it's fair game in the zone. But one thing that seems misunderstood, from what I've seen:

It's not just that you die, which doesn't matter as long as you banked stones. It's that your time can be wasted by just one nasty person:

You can't respawn at the objective, so you have to ride or run all the way back and try again. And again. And again. Maybe it's your last hours of playtime and one last thing to do, but someone keeps griefing you repeatedly.

That doesn't really happen in PVE. You may get some jerk or bug in a dungeon and have to re-queue, occasionally. But mostly, others can't waste your real-life time by purposely and repeatedly preventing you from meeting your objective.

Definitely not in silly event quests. Given how much people complain about the ease of overland PVE, even soloing many dungeons these days, the barrier to entry is clearly not the same in reverse. A PVP'er may not enjoy PVE. But, afaik, they can get most of it done.

Even said by a PVP'er up thread: "I'd argue all day that PVP is the most difficult content in the game". Versus most PVE event quests: "go click on thing, report back."

So I can see why people feel frustrated and left out of event tickets. They're not going to put in all the effort to spec out for a mode of gameplay they don't enjoy and will not do again. They're told by ZOS that they can do PVE tasks to get the rewards, but are then stopped like this or even harassed in whispers and mails.

There are ways to get it done with less stress, like preparing quests in advance. But the game and official info won't tell you that, we're lucky players help each other. (This is also a little scary now due to all the recent event bans. Walking on eggshells: "Is this an acceptable cheese or not?" Like is it actually fine to port to IC from Cyro, or is that an 'exploit' bypassing the zone's no-travel design?)

Lol at the just port to cyro suggestion. With queues of over an hour that is not exactly an option. Even before the event the queues were getting bad.

Yesterday, someone in a AD character was griefing about 10 questers in Cropsford. Everyone, including myself tried to kill him but he somehow could restore his health from ZERO to full (about 40k), just used one and the same ability to one shot everyone (but the report says he used 4 different abilities). Sadly, I can't name him in the forums. I have reported him but I won't have my hopes up. With many exploits dating for several months and years and no bans because of them.

Sadly, this bad situation made questers to become paranoid when they are exploring dungeons. They think another quester from another faction is there to kill them, so they attack first. Even when I don't retaliate and stay immobile they continue to attack.

Cropsford is an alliance objective. Any enemy player there is a threat, period.

Healing to full and killing players are not exploits. And hitting with 1 skill and landing multiple attacks is literally just proc sets. Reporting this player for beating you at PVP is worse than this player killing enemy players at an alliance objective.

As for places like Bruman, Cropsford or Vlastarus; these towns are capturable resources and if a quester is flipping the town towards their faction, you have every right to kill them and flip it back.

Sometimes you need to kill the central guards to be able to enter the building to get the second quest. I normally just kill them and leave the flag. However, you may view it as trying to flipping it because the wheel went down a bit while I was killing the guards.

Yeah, killing the guards but leaving the flag alone can definitely attract PvPers. Players which aren't present directly on sight won't know what you are doing but only see their faction's property attacked on map. It's highly likely then, that somebody will show up and fight all players of opposite factions. Because they are literally told to do so as objective of war. That's not griefing but playing as intended.

Overland difficulty scaling is desperately needed. 9 years. 6 paid expansions. 24 DLCs. 40 game changing updates including One Tamriel, an overhaul of the game including a permanent CP160 gear cap and ridiculous power creep thereafter. I'm sick and tired of hearing about Cadwell Silver & Gold as a "you think you do but you don't" - tier deflection to any criticism regarding the lack of overland difficulty in the game. I'm bored of dungeons, I'm bored of trials; make a personal difficulty slider for overland. It's not that hard.

Healing from ZERO points where the bar is completely black? You should be dead in the floor. He gets "killed" and then restore all health. Got him "killed" within less than 30 seconds and this healing happen again. Repeat over and over.

No set procs involved. All of them were class abilities.

And he is not the only one. I have seen ball groups of AD and DC doing the same thing.

And went invisible every now and then?

Sounds like a one bar oakensoul nb ganker. Not very effective against tanky PVP players, but devastating against players with less resistances. Like PVE players.

Shrewd Offering is an insane heal. One button and boom, full health.

And if he had Red Mountain, Scavenging Demise, Swamp Raider or other typical bow gank sets, you would see many things in the death recap although only one skill was used. And especially now there are many who are trying out those builds during the event.

I actually had a similar "opponent" the other day at Crops. Went in with a tanky build. Doesn't do huge damage - it's alright, but nothing spectacular. But it has well over 60k health and even with breaches, it's still at the resistance cap. Had one red ganker, probably testing out their brand new gank build they got from the internet, with scavenging demise and ... stormfist what? Didn't really understand that the build does nothing to tankier players. I just wanted the event tickets and that's it. But he was stopping me from picking up the sack for the quest every time I tried. (The pick up animation gets cancelled if I am attacked.) Many times he tried his gank combo, failed, used cloak to reset, tried again, until I had to just show him it's useless. I was just standing there, tanking scavenging demise, stormfist, bow ulti and his poison arrow without my health ever dropping under 60k. Then he understood to leave me alone so I can do my quest. So maybe do a build with ridiculously high health and resistances so you don't really need to worry about those gankers? Doesn't stop the most experienced players, but those are rarely sitting at quest return places ganking PVE players.

This is where the disconnect starts.

The vast majority of PvE focused players don't bother to research how to survive player attacks or be successful at PvP. So they wear their PvE gear and use their everyday passives and CP.... and get blown up. And it just reinforces their fear of PvP.

If there's no interest in getting better at PvP, or willingness to get the right gear and skills, then it's a lost cause. And the cycle will continue when the next PvP focused event starts. New people will come to the forums and read the horror stories (told by those who just let themselves die), and they too will gain an inordinate fear before ever setting foot in IC or Cyrodiil. It's a vicious cycle.

ESO has always had the most notoriously unbalanced pvp of any mmo game and most players justifiably avoid it altogether and they need to stop forcing it on all of us twice a year

As a PVE player, I don't think anything is "forced." No one is twisting your arm, moving your mouse and making you do it. Sure there are tickets, but so what, big deal.
    [/quote]
it actually is a big deal since tickets give us extremely nice things and we wouldn't be able to get them otherwise since it takes multiple events worth of tickets to get them. just because its not a big deal to you doesnt mean it isnt to a ton of people that play this game. so ya, its forcing pvp on people that dont want it. just because its not a big deal to you doesnt mean it isnt to others. this event is the most hated and has been the most controversial event since it started. its time the devs admit it and just give people a pve alternative route to get tickets for this event to avoid pvp. its not difficult and it isnt asking too much and its long overdue. every time this event comes around it has me question why i even still play this game. and its actually the reason ive stopped so many times.

a game cant have fomo systems in a game and then expect people to not get upset when the way of getting things is a nightmare during a specific event.

I'm a mix between 1 and 2, but 2 is closer for me. If it's obvious someone is on a quest, it's not worth my time to kill them since they've probably already been farmed countless times and I will get nothing from them, but if they hit me first, I'm going to kill them.

On my IC coffer mule, I'm not annoyed if I get attacked by players. I kill some, some kill me, and some run when they find out I fight back. I'm more annoyed at how many enemies there are in IC. It feels like every 3 steps there's a group of 3-4 enemies with 100k HP which is just an annoying resource drain.

In my honest opinion, there needs to actually be a PVE version of Cyrodiil that people can use to explore, quest and collect map items tbh, I don't know why ZOS is trying to mix PVE in to a PVP zone, it's not fair to either side for people who just want to quest and farm and to people who go in expecting PVP content.

This would solve the problem of MYM having absurd queue times, it would solve the ethical dilema of killing PVErs who just want to quest.

If this is too much of an ask (and i'd really have to ask why), then there should be an option to enter passively, that is- You basically get put in that purple safe hub mode and can't use weapons or be attacked, you're essentially just a passive entity that's there and have no meaningful impact on the map
So you can't interact with flags and you aren't considered part of any alliance and can interact with town quests and crafting stations, You don't have the same Zone chats, and any alliance guard NPCs simply don't see or react to you being there.

Because they're trying to entice PVE players to try out and, ideally, make PVP a regular thing for them. The problem's that the skill ceiling in PVP is so much higher than in any other mode, coupled with the annoyances of needing to create an entire different built with different gear and skills, the fact that if you get killed you lose significant progress AND the toxicity you might experience (I know people who love MYM because they can farm PVErs)...and if I was a betting man, I'd say less than 10% of PVErs who try out PVP stick to it.

I would like a PVE version of Cyrodiil and Imperial City, if only for story modes (I love the Immortal Eight and the Drake of Blades), but I know exactly why they're not going to do it. They need to entice more people to PVP, because outside of MYM, PVP is practically dead. And this is something PVPers have complained about for a while. Maybe this upcoming change announcement might shake things up. Or it might not.

All I know is that I only PVP to level up Assault and Support + my tickets, then get the hell out of dodge. I'm too old to waste my time with Mount Simulator. I play a super tanky build precisely because I can't be bothered anymore.
