Leave them alone. Under no circumstances should a PVP player kill someone just doing a quest.

While I believe it is poor sportsmanship to intentionally attack questers, the third option is really not fair as there are many instances in which a player cannot know the other’s intentions, both in Cyrodiil and Imperial City, and making the wrong split-second decision could mean a loss for yourself or your side.

When PVPing, I do try to avoid attacking people questing, collecting Skyshards, etc. and have had many peaceful encounters in both Cyrodiil and Imperial City. That said, I accept that these are PVP zones and am not upset when I am killed while there on PVE errands, but would go elsewhere or do another activity altogether if it became clear there were people deliberately seeking cheap kills in the area.

I try to avoid killing questers but if I feel I need to defend myself in Imperial City specifically by attacking first I will. If they seemed to just be a PvEr in the fight then I'll let them go next time I see them out of guilt.

Usually I avoid to fight with other player who are willing to do PVP.

PVP area has different game rule from PVE area, and more over different from dungeon or trial meta.
ESO PVP is NOT same game title anymore. It's not good testing area for current build. So, It's time
wasting to fight with other players anyway.

I don't feel that it is the responsibility of a PVP player to take care of a PVE players feelings in a game mode that is designed for PVP, and that less value needs to be placed on dying in a PVP zone. I'm PVE and I don't place extreme value on dying. Yeah it could be inconvenient, but hate whispering and bashing PVP players as "bad people" for doing PVP in a PVP zone is unreasonable.

I think it's unfair that some PVP players feel that they have to walk on glass around PVE players during an event that is meant for them to enjoy because they are being demanded to accommodate others in their zone.

I appreciate the PVP players who watch out for PVE players, and I appreciate the mentality of fairness that they have, but at the end of the day if I walk in their zone unprepared I am not entitled to being accommodated by them.

Personally don't care about quest spots, almost never around those but occasional Bruma. If someone starts on me that's fair, myself engage first only on flags there.

Personally I'd try to let the person complete or turn in the quest if it was obvious they were trying to do so (like if they're in front of the quest-giver in a town in cyro / engaged with a quest boss / etc.). But if there's fighting going on in the area or the person's intentions aren't obvious, I'm probably going to strike.

And in IC it's hard to tell who's doing what and I always attack first and ask questions later. Everyone is fair game.

I mean in pvp zones everyone has to accept the risk of being attacked... but I do think it's a bad look to intentionally go out of one's way to seek out questers (like when people camp inside the buildings with a quest-giver).

    Depends.

If it’s IC, everyone gets attacked, no questions asked. PVPers do the quests there too, so it’s usually impossible to tell who’s a PVPer and who’s a PVEer.

Same goes for towns with capture objectives. If you’re running around Bruma, I can’t always tell if you’re just questing there or if you’re going to flip the flags when I leave.

Chorrol? No one gets attacked in Chorrol. If you go to Chorrol to kill questers, you’re a bit of a coward, IMO.

Kill the person doing the quest, but if they see them again, let them pass and leave them be
How is the PvP player supposed to know that the other player is just there to do a PvE quest? It's perfectly okay to kill them the first time. After that first time, if it's become obvious that the other player is just doing a PvE quest and isn't interested in having a PvP fight, then the polite thing to do would be to leave them be-- but that isn't a requirement, and it assumes that the PvP player is playing leisurely enough to even have time to notice the names of other players when they see them. A lot of PvP players are too busy running around looking for anyone to kill to stop and look at everyone else's names, although if the other players' setups are visually distinctive enough then they might recognize them that way.

Personally, when I'm doing PvE quests in the Imperial City and get attacked by one or more enemy players, I just stand there and let them kill me, so I can get on with rezzing, jumping back down into the district, and getting on with the quest. There's no point in getting upset about it, and I make sure I bank any Tel Var I get after I turn in each quest, so I'm never carrying any amount of Tel Var that I'd be upset about losing.
I've fought mudcrabs more fearsome than me!

4th option: It's part of the game, but it is rather unsporting.

This. Deliberately targeting questers (say by camping quest objectives) is toxic and one of many reasons why PvP has been in a slow downward spiral over the years. Moreover, it’s a reason that isn’t in ZOS’ hands. You want more attention on PvP? It needs to be popular with the player base as a whole, and for that to happen it helps to not make someone’s first experience creeping around the Imperial City to be overwhelmingly negative because their undergeared inexperienced selves got murdered over and over by someone they stood no chance against while they were trying to do something relatively simple. Yes, they will die sooner or later, that’s PvP, but it doesn’t have to be the combat equivalent of hitting a brick wall in the same spot every time.

So help the newbies get their quest objectives done. Show them the ropes, warn them about the popular ambush spots. Walk them through the best ways to set up siege in Cyrodiil. Let them get their feet wet before they get shoved into the deep end.

And as usual I will be handing out War Torte during the event on PC NA, so happy bloodletting during the event everyone! 😄

If you go to flip a town because it currently belongs to another faction, then all other faction players in the area must die for the town flags to flip quickly. However, I wouldn't just go to a town to kill questers... that sounds like something a dishonest nightblade would do! XD

In PvP everyone is fair game at all times. That's just the fact of it.

However, if PvE mains go to one of the campaigns that has a lower population, any campaign other than the faction locked campaign, they will find they can do the town quests side by side with other factions players and only very rarely, if ever, be engaged in a fight.

This poll is kinda biased in that it seems to be trying to misrepresent what takes place during the MYM events and what PvE players can expect to experience while doing the quests in Cyrodiil to get their tickets.

Kill once then leave alone. Anything else is just griefing. Do you really need to prove you can kill the person again and again and again? It's why ppl who are forced to do Cyro for quests etc, hate PVPers. I'd rather not be hated for ruining some guy's day.

They kill me every damn time. They wait for me if I respawn and kill me again. They even chase me down to kill me as I'm running away!

Is it any wonder I avoid all PVP zones like the plague? Having a target and sign on your back that says for AP stab here isn't any fun for me.

It's too bad I like and am capable of soloing the horrors, but I stopped after too many times of killing stabbed after the boss was dead but before I even had time to loot the body. Maybe that's not the average behavior, but it is such a bad experience that it doesn't take much for it to lead to never again for me.

3rd option really should have been:

Leave them alone, unless they attack you first.

This is what I try to do. If they start attacking me, then they aren't just there to quest so I will fight back and defend myself, but if they are clearly just questing only and don't attack me, I will do my best to leave them alone.

If PvE players would go quest in version "no CP" of PvP, the problem would be rare. That's what I do. The map is mostly empty. I can wander freely nearly everywhere and never encounter anyone, neither allies nor enemies.

When I was still going to standard PvP so that it was populated, when I saw an enemy player, I was waving at him/her and in most cases, he was waving back and let me in peace. A few times I got attacked, but I didn't fight back, and the player then stopped before I died and let me go.

So all in all, I have a rather good experience of questing and/or picking up treasures in Cyrodiil. It makes me realize that maybe I have just been very lucky up to now. :D
