Your Experience with U35?

Vet Vateshran Hollows with a solo one bar build stamplar:

before u35 - after many runs and some sort of progression, was able to do trifectas and time below 40 min, even if I died on last boss, arena still took me like 47-49min.

after u35 - did one run, fights took much longer, I died once on last boss due the lack of outgoing damage (couldn't get all mechanics cleared in time on the last phase, boss was also healing too much while in portals), I used sigils on the second attempt of fight, because it just was no fun, the whole thing took me 1:08 hour.

I'm not a great player, so lets say this is an example from the mid tier.
I worked on this arena after u35 was announced, did many runs, it was satisfying to get better and collect every achievement there. Now its just sad to see how once again I must struggle with things that already went well.

Want to play a stamdk, build relequen and pillar of nirn. Want to play a magplar, relequen and pillar of nirn. Magcro? Got ya covered with relequen and pillar of nirn. Fancy a magblade? Guess what, relequen and pillar of nirn. Nice set meta

There will be two routes in U36. Either those sets will be nerfed so we get some kind of build diversity or they'll buff others. My money is on the nerfing.

They Added 100 Custom Keybind Limit....

Which sucks, I would be fuming if Voltan Keybinder Addon did not fix the issue

Though not being a huge fan of U35, I have to object:
They did not introduce the limit with U35, they just added the text indicating that you have reached the limit.

For reference, see this post by Kevin:

Just to follow up here, we’ll pass this feedback along to the team. However, currently the team has no intention of increasing or uncapping the limit at this time. They would like to reiterate the only change between live and PTS is that the UI now clearly indicates the keybind limit on PTS. The current limit always existed.

that can be found in this thread over at the PTS forum:

Tried a vBRP last night with some guildies as we're progging it.

Prior to U35, we could complete vBRP with maybe 1 or 2 wipes. We were getting quicker and better.

Last night we spent an hour an only reached the 4th arena with multiple wipes. Enemies were pulled into the center into the "killzone" but just stood there as we couldn't burn them down quick enough. We got overrran multiple times and as for the healing, well our healer is very good but ae suffered with that.

The whole experience was not fun in the slightest. I don't believe we were running the new meta gear that is for all classes/specs of pillar/whorl/siroria.

ZOS you ruined my achievement playthroughs with AwA and that took a lot of interest from me. I enjoyed levelling my characters and doing achievements that I felt were relevant for that character.

With U35 you've taken a sledgehammer and cracked a walnut. I hope you realise the error of your ways, because, afterall you promised us 'small changes' with this years expansion. My plus expires at the end of the month and I think at that time I'll free some space on my hard drive.

I did a vMOL prog group on Saturday and getting the shield down on Zhaj'hassa took significantly longer than pre-U35 and wiped us a few times due to the increased duration due to lower DPS. Then we got to the twins and didn't even clear them despite clearing them the week before in U34 and overall having the mechs down better than the previous week. The erasure of progression is the most maddening, I cleared vMOL HM without issues in U34 and now we're back trying to adjust and relearn things that we had down.

I don't think ZoS has learned their error of their ways and am fairly certain that "the beatings will continue until morale improves" as we liked to say in the military. I've cancelled my sub and will have to see substantial reversions of U35's combat changes to consider re-subbing.

My own overall feeling after running several vet trials is positive. We’re not trying to clear hm VDSR, but just normal vet things in general. My favorite and first archer build is no longer miles behind what I can get with dual wield/melee. Now my wood elf archer nightblade RP character is just 8-10% behind the highest of nightblade parses I’ve seen posted anywhere, and about 3-4% behind my own in a meta build. And it feels impactful in real gameplay. This is all it takes for me, after years of watching the archer flounder and lag far behind everything else

People are saying this patch requires you to put everything into a meta build with very specific combos of sets and weapons because of the overall low dps output, but I honestly think that’s unnecessary. Everything my group has encountered to date seems to be dropping dead as fast or faster than before the patch

My main (frost magden) is a mess. With the changes to Advanced Species, I'm 3k over the pen cap I'd ever need in group content. I could adjust by swapping to 7 medium armor instead of 2 medium/5 light, but that would mean I couldn't use any of the frost DPS sets in my body slots (e.g. Frostbite, Whorl, Icy Conjuror, etc).

Additionally, I still absolutely hate the timing changes to mag shalks. It feels very awkward to use, and oftentimes, trash mobs are dead before the 2nd proc goes off. I tried swapping over to stam shalks, but I ended up with stam sustain problems, especially when doing content that requires blocking, dodge rolling, breaking free, etc. I feel like to make this character not insanely weak, I'd need to change to the usual meta medium sets (e.g. Relequen and Pillar) and ditch all the frost/magic stuff entirely. That feels really bad - what happened to play how you want?

My DK DPS don't feel too bad. My main gripe is with the hybrid cost on Molten Whip - my mag DK keeps running out of stam in content, and that's while using only 2 other stam skills (trap and stampede). I'll need to swap to the max mag and stam regen food to compensate and deal with the lack of HP buffs. Overall, that character now feels like playing an Elf Bane mag DK.. but without Elf Bane. My bow/bow poison DK actually feels really nice now - I only have to move into melee range twice every ~20 seconds, and the rotation genuinely is much easier to perform in content.

I've very much felt the nerfs to radiating regen as a healer, especially in mobile fights where AoE heals aren't as effective. Additionally, random PUG healers that like to spam radiating regen constantly also seem to be way less effective - I've had quite a number of dungeon runs where healers who played like that really struggled to keep people alive, where previously it likely wouldn't have been an issue. I'm likely going to add Echoing Vigor to my bar in all mobile fights, which doesn't feel great as I'm already cramped for bar space on all my healers.

On my tank characters, I'm struggling with the usual slew of DPS who truly don't know how to play - this update didn't help them at all. I especially feel for the people who are mostly spamming LAs or recasting random DoTs constantly or too early, as they will specifically have been nerfed a fair amount due to the balance changes.

Overall, I feel like this update had neutral to slightly negative consequences for most of my characters, extremely negative consequences for my main character (mag Warden), and positive consequences for one of my off-meta alts (bow/bow stam DK).

    .

As a healer main Radiating Regeneration is a hard hit for mobile fights as you said. I had to slot ritual of rebirth on my Templar as an insurance policy for those "oh crap" moments while mobile - but that's a very expensive skill to use. I've considered echoing vigor as well and will experiment between the 2 as I'm currently using vigor on my NB healer.

So far not really a fan...

But if the devs down-tune content in U36 like I suspect they will then the game will be much more accessible at the higher levels .

And then there will be outrage over that.

Yeah, it doesn't bother me - but I don't spend any real time "watching" animations anyway.

Devs could have made the game more “accessible” by reducing the max health and damage output of all trial dungeon and arena monsters, and that would have been better than them crapping all over us with this update.

First taste acquired, since I did some dungeoneering today. At least my non-pet magsorc was fine. I did everything as usual, and didn't notice any serious nerfs with damage. I even soloed Fungal Grotto I with Isobel, and it went rather easily. The only change that was noticeable was that I had to be more aware and active with healing both in that dungeon and when doing a pug random normal before that. Haven't checked if the 2 second ticks apply now to HoTs as well, but the reason might be that. I had to apply direct heals and damage shields more. I'm a semi-casual with at most a tolerable DPS, so looks like the update works as advertised for someone like me, or at least is a net neutral in its effects.

So far, so good. I've yet to try my other characters, though, and if the rumors are right it might be a rough ride with my templars from here on, as they rely on Puncturing Sweep (too) heavily. Might be a good time to rethink what to use as a spammable. Also, I'm interested to see how my other class characters are affected, and if they have become nerfed too much I won't be happy.

'Net neutral' is numerically nigh impossible in terms of damage barring potentially niche combinations where you're already on a heavy attack build using Empower where such things may cancel each other out, I'm afraid to say.

There is nothing in this update actually working 'as advertised'.

Oh, I use a solo craftable-set build with that character, so definitely no outlandish or niche combinations were involved. I even try to light attack weave (no idea if I do it right, though). The point is that the experience wasn't the disaster I was expecting from all I had read, but at least 95 % as easy as before. But as you saw, my post was conditioned. If my other characters suck, I'll gladly join the complaining chorus. Must try a few of them in the coming days to form a final opinion.

Now I have had the chance to play with multiple classes of characters. The experience is not positive, if still not a disaster. It seems like many of my characters now have some sustain problems that weren't there before or were less egregious. Especially my templars seem to be hit by this, whereas my Nightblade is affected very little. I think the problem stems from the lessened DPS at its root. I still don't notice a DPS drop that much, but it might be because I could be unconciously compensating with more APM and/or the fights are just a bit longer, which leads to increased resource usage per minute. Besides worse sustain, the group healing abilities are definitely worse which makes acting as a healer on dungeons harder.

Bottom line: Not liking the update that much, and hoping Update 36 corrects these problems.

As a stamplar main now its come to console I can say I am disliking it as much as I thought I would be from reading PTS notes. Horendous sustain now compared to previous patch, since patch 33 I have gone down from 117k on the dummy to a quick test yesterday with no changes of 103k (worse if I remove the new buffs from the dummy). I really don't like the jabs animation, or how ineffective it is to hit anything with it compared to previously.

I am fearful now that doing things like VSS/VDSR/VCR portals etc will be so much harder than it was

Things take longer and sustain is now a bigger issue. The half stamina half magika cost of the DK whip is really noticeable. Jabs are sooo sad. Healing is also more difficult and also has sustain issues.

It isn't as bad as I feared, but there is nothing good about it either. If going back to 34 were an option I would take it in a heartbeat.

I did not like what I was reading on the PTS and didn't renew my ESO+ which ran out a couple of weeks before U35 went live on PC but decided to try it out anyway this week.
My main is a Stamblade hybrid. I like running (dlc) dungeons solo on normal, I can still do that and it doesn't seem much harder or slower. So yeah, it's ok for me, but I guess I'm lucky that neither my class nor my preferred playstyle were affected much.

Ive played mmorpgs for over 20 years so ive seen it all. PvE vet content is what I do so my opinion is coming from that side of the spectrum. I like the changes. It feels more like a mmorpg to me, with dots lasting longer, easier light attack weaving with a spamable. I had so much fun on my new build last night everything felt much smoother for me. As well, doing vet dungeons felt the exact same. We 3 maned CoS HM which i had never done before. I think if they tweak a few more things including some of the vet/hm trial bosses, things will be good going forward.

So I have now pugged a number of DLC dungeons on normal, it's bad. Wipes in content now that was pretty solid before. Struggle with bosses that take so much longer to kill, and it seems more one-shotting of healers and DPS. It's not that I don't know the mechanics, it's that when they take so much longer the chance that too many ads will spawn or that the difficult-to-time mechanic will be missed all that just goes up. Basically, it's less fun and as a healer I'm really finding it so much harder I may just switch to DPS instead.

I was repeatedly told that as a lower/mid-tier player I wouldn't even notice the changes. I have no earthy idea now how *anybody* could think that. Believe me, it's impossible to ignore.

Please...please just fix the Templar jab animation to get rid of that over the top "pull back" animation on the third and last hit. Have it hit forward instead....

I tried it out with two other Templars in a dungeon, and the constant sight of that "pull back" animation on every third hit for all three of us when dealing with a group of mobs was difficult to watch. It looked genuinely silly.

This has been my experience in dungeons:

My Sorcerer main is squishier than before. The sticky DOT changes are an indirect nerf to Critical Surge (fewer ticks, fewer chances to crit, less healing). I am noticing this particularly with Boundless Storm. My lightning staff channeled ticks also feel slower and might be part of the problem. In summary, Critical Surge self heals are no longer keeping up with heavy incoming damage like they used to.

My partner is a magicka Dragonknight main, and they decided to abandon Molten Whip due to its hybrid cost. It was previously their favorite spam attack, but the stamina cost is making that far less viable. They've switched to Force Pulse.

Looks like PvP is a bit underrepresented in here so I figured I'd chime in. As a warden main I really don't even see the point in logging in anymore. I can't kill anyone with my wardens anymore. I can still heal like a champ but now its hard to find a group as a dedicated healer when everyone already has enough healing by themselves! Tried swapping to my dk and it was ok but even though I play a mostly stam spec she struggled horrendously with the new whip because I was relying on it as a way to take the pressure off of my stamina for a bit.

It looks like all of the problems i had before are just as bad as ever in cyrodiil. Healing and damage reductions are stupidly high. Damage is also stupidly high. It has to be since you now need a coordinated attack to kill people in exactly one single second with no ability to react or they are back to full health the next second. Sustain is too high as well. It's all just out of hand. Even worse than before really.

I don't know whether it has anything to do with U35, but I was able to solo Elden Grotto II for the first time yersterday on both of my mains. I had previously tried to solo it on my PC NA main, who's a bit more capable than my PC EU main, and IIRC was not even able to get to the first boss. That was maybe a year ago, or longer, and a large part of it may have simply been a lack of familiarity with the various mobs and bosses, but I was able to clear it yesterday without too much difficulty despite being totally unfamiliar with what I'd be facing.

I had avoided even attempting it after my initial "Nope!" experience a year or so ago, so it might be that I could have cleared it before U35 if only I'd keep trying. However, I did not die even once yesterday, despite not having any foreknowledge about the mobs and bosses and mechanics, so it was definitely a very positive experience for me.

My DK (the whole whip thing aside) seems to be mostly okay. I seem to get one-shotted in places that before I hadn't but I guess that is related to loss of DPS.

My healers are what are really struggling. The NB is more flexible and seems mostly okay. The templar, sigh, may need to be shelved.
