Hey guys. Could you please confirm which quest step you're currently on? It should say "Contain Balreth's Spirit." If you still see "Defeat Balreth," then you may not have gotten credit for killing him. Also, we'd love to get the following information from you so we can work on investigating:
What class were you playing?
What abilities were you using?
What was your strategy for defeating Balreth?
Any specific details about how you fought him, or anything that seemed odd during the fight?
It did show contain balreth's spirit after i killed him.
1. I was playing a dragon knight
2. A combination of fiery chains and the talisman to keep the aggro on me.
3. Aggro and deal enough damage to kill him
4. Nothing odd happened. He died like he would normally and i heard the npc say his usual thing.... after that the npc vanished and there was nothing to do.
Jo Gina, In my case I was an Argonian Templar, using melee (one handed with sword), Reflective Light, Solar Barrage and Honor the Dead. I killed him roughly in the centre of the map very close to where the 'contain balreth' would be. I just used the stone and kept hitting him with barrages.
Later on it seemed that my NPC ally disappeared, I was the only human player in the instance too.
What abilities were you using? Furry, Strife, Assassin's Blade.
What was your strategy for defeating Balreth? Deal as much damage as possible, when I had low health I choosed to stun him and then I spammed my Strife. When he was running to the lava I continued to hit his back.
Any specific details about how you fought him, or anything that seemed odd during the fight?
It's exactly like DrPopkorne said, he died in the middle close to the thing then the ally dissapeared and it says "contain Balreth Spirit".
Another bug in the area of this quest:
Another issue that happen after third time trying was that when I were going to teleport out of the area that I became invisible and stuck. I tried to use /stuck command. I was teleported and still invisible and stuck.
I tried to go to the character selection and then in again still same issue. I had to close the whole game for it to work again.
Same here.
I was playing solo, Nightblade, using teleport strike, swallow soul and flurry.
Once Blreth was dead I could see his soul move but then nothing and no option to contain
--I had a group of friends that were able to complete it as a group.
I have abandoned and retried with a group and it still didn't work. Neither did /reloadui
Killed him as a lvl 9 bow sorc. Nothing special, seems like he's even easier than he was in beta. I abandoned the quest and retook it, but as soon as I zone in its still on the contain his spirit part and there is nothing there.
[*] What class were you playing?
Dragonknight.
[*] What abilities were you using?
Destruction staff attacks, searing strike, stone giant, maybe wall of elements.
[*] What was your strategy for defeating Balreth?
Spamming searing strike mostly.
[*] Any specific details about how you fought him, or anything that seemed odd during the fight?
Couldn't defeat him for the first time, so went back through the portal, switched weapon & skills, and went back in. Not sure if matters.
What was your strategy for defeating Balreth? Deal as much damage as possible, roll away from aoe, kill minions when they spawned, chains to keep out of lava.
Any specific details about how you fought him, or anything that seemed odd during the fight?
The fight seemed normal then after his death the npc ally dissapeared and it says "contain Balreth Spirit" a blue fire appeared under Balreth then a shiny thing left his body and hit nothing, there is now an arrow pointing at the nothing, screenshot attached.
Another bug in the area of this quest:
No other bugs happened for me during this.
Attempted /reloadui as well as quitting completely and logging back in. Also attempted abandoning the quest to do again, after abandon I had to re-summon the atronachs outside, came inside and there was no Balreth to fight, no body on the ground and still the command to contain his spirit with nothing visible.
EDIT: Just re-did the quest in a party of two and his spirit appeared, possible short term solution for people to get past the quest.
EDIT:EDIT: Okay, while his spirit appeared the portal to leave didn't. Had to open map use a wayshrine to leave.
