PTS Update 16 - Feedback Thread for Item Sets & Asylum Weapons

I know this doesn't pertain to any of the clockwork city items. But could we please get the proc chance and size of Winterborn's 5pc set bonus increased to 10% and 5-8m respectively? The size is abysmal even when you play entirely around by grouping mobs up. This is a decent frost DPS set for Wardens, but arguably it's their only one. Unless you ran this and Ysgramor's at the same time. Essentially this set needs to be a bit more reliable/stronger for the opportunity cost of running over say Necropotence or any other 'meta'/flavor of the month set. As it stands it's strong, but between the cooldown and the terrible range on the ice shard it can be trying at times to maintain the DPS potential from it.

Miats won't help you in a situation where someone in stealth does this:

    Cast snipe
Immediately casts arrow spray (you are stunned by this)
Snipe hits and receives damage buff
    (More attacks/executes)

Both attacks auto crit due to stealth bonus

Follow-up with ambush or birdspam :-)

    And why wouldn't it?

You do know that Miat's addon shows the opponent's cast bar of Snipe (not just the projectile flying towards you)? You see the cast bar, you dodge - simple as that.

Also, the stealth crit guarantee is only for the first attack that lands (in this case the Arrow Spray).

But yeah, even without Miat's in the picture I wouldn't see a problem with that - bow needs something going for it and if it becomes the best ganking tool once again (after over two years of being subpar for that as well) then so be it.

You know - stuff like this is the reason why i´m happy miats is in the game

Crafty players finding ways to oneshot being denied so.

Hey, people can currently do that better with Dark Flare+Javelin :P

Wouldn't be too horrible imo if bow became slightly better at burst than those magicka builds, considering how badly it lacks behind in all other aspects. And unlike Dark Flare+Javelin, atleast bow has to aim & hit with the Acid Spray - too far away and it won't be in range (20m...), too close and Lethal Arrow lands first, ruining the combo.

There's some skill involved atleast with this playstyle (atleast compared to pre-Battle Spirit burst, or proc meta of Homestead/1T).

darkflare however has a clearcut soundcue even when used from sneak.
snipe on the other hand is bugging out more than it´s not.

The nerf to Asylum Destro staves hurts their PvE performance significantly, basically providing no advantage over a 4th piece of a Trials set. Since this change was due to PvP considerations, I suggest the following revision:

Revert to the original version of the Asylum destro with the following addition - "This effect has a 50% chance to apply to player targets."

This would ensure a similar uptime in PvP to the change made in 3.2.2, but would not also harm the weapon's PvE performance.

Can we get a rework of the Asylum Resto please

Like maybe reducing the cost of everyone's next skill by some amount?

I just want another good staff for healers. We have had the same stuff forever.

My Suggestions for the Asylum Destro Staff, bow, and Resto Staff:
    Concentrated Force:
    Non-perfected:
Force Shock will now detonate for additional damage against enemies with a status effect. Dealing [x] damage of the element type per elemental status effect.

    Concentrated Force:
    Perfected:
Force Shock will now detonate for additional damage against enemies with a status effect. Dealing [x] damage of the element type per elemental status effect in a 3m radius, and will always apply the status effect of the staff type.

    Piercing Spray:
    Non-perfected:
Arrow Spray ignores the Physical Resistances of a target.

    Piercing Spray:
    Perfected:
Arrow Spray ignores the Physical Resistances of a target. And when you deal damage with Arrow Spray, you cause enemies hit to take 50% more damage from the direct damage portion of your next Snipe, Scatter Shot, or Poison Arrow used within 5 seconds.

    Timeless Blessing:
    Non-perfected:
Regeneration on allies will now refresh itself every 5s as long as your ally is withing [x]m of you.

Regeneration on allies will now refresh itself every 5s as long as your ally is withing [x]m of you.

Feedback on the Mad Tinkerer set:

It looks like it will be fun to use for RP, but not much else.

The fabricant is equipped with a comical amount of artificial stupidity, running blindly into anything in its path.

It does only a slight amount of damage, but the knockdown is useful and fun.

The fabricant is affected by enemy attacks and seems to die at the slightest damage. If it spawns into a red circle it will die immediately. IMO this is the factor that limits its effectiveness as a weapon the most.

The fabricant can run along way, and on occasion it did run into the next group of unagro'd mobs, knocking them in the air, and agroing them. While I think this is a fun feature, I'm sure some players will not like the idea of pulling two groups of mobs at once.

I think the fabricant could be allowed to spawn much more frequently without any danger of this set being made OP.

Much more fun, and more use, than the Defiler set's Hunger.

    Mad Tinkerer's Set:
the AI on this proc pet is....bad. It seems like over half the time it just..misses the enemy, or rolls to where it used to be. And that's not even factoring in the times it spawns and then dies without even moving. It's the same issue that Flame Blossom has.
I used it against the Training Dummy and it missed. It missed the stationary training dummy. Just rolled right on past it.

You have to aim, like with the Velidreth set - point your character directly at the target.

    Feed back - dropped sets:

    Unfathomable darkness.

I really like the Physical Penetration as 3 piece bonus.

5 piece bonus seems low - I was getting about 5000 damage against a single ordinary overland mob once every 3 sec. This won't crit. So, this averages out to 1666 damage/sec on one target. This seems poor, especially as it's going to be a lot lower against anything with more than the minimum resistance.

Might be tempted to use this set as a 3 piece, but that's all.

    Livewire:

Text refers to "Healing taken" - for the sake of consistency shouldn't this be "Healing Received"?

Again the 5 piece proc seems poor stuff. Concussion is a bit meh for a 5 piece bonus effect. The healing bonus is very situational and I assume it won't crit as it's a proc. Against a boss with no adds one small heal every 10 seconds is hardly noticeable.

Can't see me using this set at all.

I think that innate axiom could be an interesting set with a slight buff. Currently on PTS is looks like this:

    Innate Axiom (All)
    (2) Max Magicka
    (3) Max Stamina
    (4) Spell Critical
    (4) Weapon Critical
    (5) Adds 400 Spell and Weapon Damage to your Class abilities.

The 5 piece bonus seems interesting, and I think it should fall into the same category as Netch/Automaton/War Maiden. That is to say: if more than 75% of your damage comes from the specific subset of skills, then it will outperform Julianos/Hundings. This seems to work out well in practice and has proven well balanced. Very specific builds can use these sets for a slight DPS increase (~1-2%) at the cost of using very specific skills. For the more common builds, these sets perform about as well as other top DPS sets (roughly 75% of damage comes from specific damage type).

The problem with Innate Axiom is the 2 and 3 piece bonuses. Comparing with the 3 similar sets mentioned above (netch, auto, maiden), Magicka DPS are giving up 129 spell damage in exchange for a nearly useless stamina and weapon crit bonus. Stamina DPS are giving up 129 weapon damage for a nearly useless Magicka and spell crit bonus.

Best case, if using all class abilities, the 5 piece bonus gives 100 more damage than that of Julianos/Hundings. But the loss of a useful bonus on the 2 or 3 piece outweighs the benefit.

I would recommend doing something along the lines of this:

    Innate Axiom (All)
    (2) See below
    (3) Max Stamina
    (3) Max Magicka
    (4) Spell Critical
    (4) Weapon Critical
    (5) Adds 400 Spell and Weapon Damage to your Class abilities.

Where the 2 piece bonus could be any one of the following:
    - Spell and Weapon Crit
    - Spell and Weapon Damage
    - Spell and physical penetration
    - Max Magicka and Stamina
    - Magicka and Stamina Regen
    - Max Health

This would put the set on par with Juli/Hunding/Auto/Netch/War Maiden for any meta build. It would be a buff to hybrid builds, but they need all the help they can get. And it may open up some new builds that focus entirely on class skills (dual wield Magicka build comeback?).

Honestly, the current versions of Asylum weapons are going to be completely unused in PvE. Even the *Perfect* Asylum weapons are too weak.

Of them all, Asylum DW and Resto need serious help.

Berserking Warrior set needs a buff.

Probably should have put this here.

    My bad.

    https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/375054/berserking-warrior-buff-please

    Some other random things.

Maelstrom dagger / axe needs love.
Maelstrom sword / mace suck badly.

There is no situation that I would ever drop a 5pc AND a 4pc bonus OR a monster set to use them. EVER.

    some very questionable sets
    • Ice furnace. Why does it STILL have weapon damage? Why is the fire proc so small? It's a terrible set.
    • Light Bringer. Just, Why? Easily the worst healing set in the game.
    • Glorious Defender is terrible. tanks can't spam attacks when they are blocking.
    • Spelunker. Really. Undaunted abilities. Please change to literally anything else.
    • Hircine's Veneer. Great concept, but just doesn't work. Please change to cost reduction instead of stam regen. Like worm. Currently it adds between 100 to 150 stam regen to most stam dps, and nothing at all to a tank.
    • Winterborn. If you're getting this to proc you're already laying down snares / immobilises with all the frost mechanics anyway. 3m radius is tiny. proc chance is tiny.

@ZOS_GinaBruno @ZOS_JessicaFolsom @ZOS_RichLambert Guys, the dual wield weapons are beyond bad... They are literally a dps loss, not even joking. The increase of the buffing by 2 seconds will not solve this... Using steel tornado in a single target parse is not logical, by any means. If that is the route you really want to take with these weapons, they need a MASSIVE BUFF to the current mechanic.

I honestly suggest you keep it simple... Steel tornado is an aoe skill, and a good one at that. What is wrong with just giving steel tornado 100% more damage while having these weapons equipped? It would have a great place in builds, being very good in aoe situations. It is extremely simple to change, and would make everyone happy. <3

    Innate Axiom:
It is obvious that set will be used by magicka players. So, it would be nice to change 4pc from double bonus that partly will be used to magicka regen. 2pc boost damage, 3pc boost defense, so 4pc as mana regen would be boost of defense and offense simultaneously, depending on how user will spend sustain he granted by mana regen; 5pc is buffing both.

The current 4pc boosts defense as well. Crit heals are the most efficient counter to Defile.

My feedback to the asylum dual wield:

These weapons are messy, simple as that.

They mess up your rotation and thinking a lot, up to the point where they are a big damage loss compared to everything else. The 12 second buff was useless as well.

So, what they should do instead is reduce the cost of the next cast of these three abilities by 33-50%. This would make them a bit dps boost through lacerate and it's morphs, and would benefit sustain as well, and also would enable dragonknights and stamina sorcerers to use war machine effectively.

@ZOS_GinaBruno, please pass this idea on the combat designers, as it is just a lot more practical, unique and not overpowered. The value of cost reduction obviously requires a bit of testing.

    Then the asylum bow:

In PvE it is very very ineffective. Acid spray is a very expensive skill and ranged stamina dds have issues because of that. Reduce the cost on acid spray (only this morph). Also, lightweight trap costs the same as rearming trap, half the cost of lightweight trap, as it effectively does half of what rearming trap does.

This is the official feedback thread for the new item sets and Asylum Weapons. Specific feedback that the team is looking for includes the following:
    • Were you able to find/learn the new motifs? If so, did you like their appearance?

Yes and yes, though I do have a few critiques regarding the appearance:

~ The Ebonshadow motif looks fantastic, but, like so many other motifs, it suffers from the infuriating "washed-out-dye" syndrome, where nearly every dye, even rare and very dark ones, look all faded and pale. It was almost impossible for me to find a color scheme I didn't dislike, and even then, I wasn't particularly satisfied - and I have a wide range of dyes. It's pretty perplexing that we are unable to dye an armor called EbonSHADOW dark colors. Coldharbour Black should never look like a medium-light grey.

Even the Rubidite color of the weapons are a faded pink, which I also hate, a fact that is really frustrating because the shape of the blades might be my favorite in the game so far (a weapon dye feature would help, but even then I know all the colors would still come out faded). Also, the bird on top of the staff is really cool looking, though it is a bit too big, I think. It looks ok in the hand, but on the back... it looks like it would be really cumbersome and awkward to lug around. lol

~ The Apostle motif is really fantastic, one of my favorites so far. I particularly love the effect of mechanical limbs on the heavy armor. My only criticism is that I don't like the way almost every uncommon and rare dye looks really shiny metallic on the fabric parts. I don't like looking like I'm always wearing satin, silk, or gaudy lamé (though, to be fair, this is also something that bothers me with most of the Rubidite level gear, not just this one).

I also wish that the head of the staff looked like an orrery or an armillary sphere, and not just a solid ball, identical to the mace and maul. The design on the globe is cool, but it's really hard to see unless you zoom way in. I think that's a big missed opportunity.
    Cheers,
    Captain Rou Dantes

This isn't directly related to the patches, more to the lack of variety when it comes to healing sets. Whenever I run vet trials it's always me wearing spc and either worm or mending with the master resto, and my healer friend wearing the same thing but mending if I'm wearing worm or worm if I'm wearing mending. With the new asylum staff, there is an opportunity to, at the very least, make transitioning to end game healing easier for aspiring healers, and that opportunity is centred around the combat physician set. If this set had it's target cap increased to 6, even if its requirements were changed to be something like critically heal while they're over 75% health, new healers could wear this set over one of the other two, along with the asylum resto, and have a very forgiving time learning how to keep people alive, as well as manage their resources. For healers focusing on optimizing the group, the setup mentioned earlier will hold for the most part (though I would love getting something new and optimal to wear... For once in a loooong time), but this way the floor will effectively be raised for healers not hoping to do hardmodes and score runs, but aiming for content completion.

That goes against the idea they have, its to stop the whole stam/mag identical sets like julianos/hundings and provide a viable options to hybrids (ahaha) If they want to make the set truly useful. Merge the stats, replacement slot can be sp+wp. Either that or replace the crit with SP/WP, much more important IMO.
